Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Though the Declaration of Independence stated that &“all men are created equal,&” married women and girls in the early days of the United States had few rights. For better or worse, their lives were controlled by their husbands and fathers. Married women could not own property, and few girls were educated beyond reading and simple math. Women could not work as doctors, lawyers, or in the ministry. Not one woman could vote, but that would change with the tireless efforts of Lucretia Mott, Lucy Stone, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, Carrie Chapman Catt, Jeannette Rankin, Alice Paul, and thousands of women across the nation. Rightfully Ours tells of the century-long struggle for woman suffrage in the United States, a movement that began alongside the abolitionist cause and continued through the ratification of the 19th amendment. In addition to its lively narrative, this history includes a time line, online resources, and hands-on activities that will give readers a sense of everyday lives of the suffragists. Children will create a banner for suffrage, host a Victorian tea, feel what it was like to wear a corset, and more. And through it all, readers will gain a richer appreciation for women who secured the right to fully participate in American democracy—and why they must never take that right for granted. Kerrie Logan Hollihan is the author of Isaac Newton and Physics for Kids, Theodore Roosevelt for Kids, and Elizabeth I, The People's Queen. She lives in Blue Ash, Ohio.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the intolerable deterioration of our moral fabric, bringing us to the point that right is wrong and wrong is right, a dire necessity exists not only to curtail such regress but to set things on the proper course. The heart, which governs morality of human thought and action, is summoned to act as the guide out of this rut and onto the path of righteousness and fair treatment of each other. In the pursuit of truth and justice, the Moral Code, which is comprised of the Last Six Commandments, the "Friend" Rule, the Golden Rule, and the "Spare the Rod Spoil the Child" Rule, is therefore proposed as the "just" Rule of the Land. This then is utilized as the foundation to achieving morally correct conclusions or courses of action to social problems, issues or difficulties that we encounter, especially in these morally trying times. An important application of this concept is in our governance. The good heart has guided us to an amazing conclusion that the ideal form of government is that which is based on the Moral Code, the ideal Rule of the Land, and Participative Democracy, the ideal form of democracy which completely satisfies the requirements, of the people, by the people and for the people; rather than the form of government based on the Legal Code, a flawed and harmful code set, and Representative Democracy, a faulty, dangerous and costly imitation of Participative Democracy. We, the people, are therefore urged, by this revelation, to wake up from this detrimental governmental slumber and empower ourselves by declaring independence of the current system and by instituting the ideal form of government. This land belongs to us and to no one else, and its future rests solely on our participation in this overwhelming but absolutely necessary endeavor. Wake Up! Rise Up! Participate!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emerging field of ‘psychoanalytic political theory’ has now reached a stage in its development and rapid evolution that deserves to be registered, systematically defined and critically evaluated. This Handbook provides the first reference volume which showcases the current state of psychoanalytic political theory, maps the genealogy of its development, identifies its conceptual and methodological resources and highlights its analytical innovations as well as its critical promise. The Handbook consists of 35 chapters offering original, comprehensive and critical reviews of this field of study. The chapters are divided into five thematic sections: Figures discusses the work of major psychoanalytic theorists who have influenced considerably the development of psychoanalytic political theory. Traditions genealogically recounts and critically reassesses the many attempts throughout the 20th century of experimenting with the articulation between psychoanalysis and political theory in a consistent way. Concepts asks what are the concepts that psychoanalysis offers for appropriation by political theory. Themes presents concrete examples of the ways in which psychoanalytic political theory can be productively applied in the analysis of racism, gender, nationalism, consumerism, etc. Challenges/Controversies captures the ways in which psychoanalytic political theory can lead the way towards theoretical and analytical innovation in many disciplinary fields dealing with cutting-edge issues. The Routledge Handbook of Psychoanalytic Political Theory will serve as scholarly reference volume for all students and researchers studying political theory, psychoanalysis, and the history of ideas.

In every area of your life, it will teach you how to apply biblical principles that will set you free from your past and from the strongholds of Satan. Gods desire is to fully restore us to deepest intimacy with Him through repentance and a total surrender of our wills to Him. He is calling His Church to rise up into a greater power and authority through the power of the cross, and to walk in mighty signs, wonders, and miracles. Jesus is calling forth a Joshua generationa holy remnant in this hour that will walk in power. The sacrifice will be great, but the rewards of surrendering everything to Jesus will far outweigh the losses. Gods inspired prophetic words in this book will awaken a new passion and desire in your heart to take hold of Gods end-time plan and purpose for your life.

Book excerpt: The goal of our journey in life is to discover and live out of our true self, the person God created us to be when He fashioned us in our mother’s wombs. However, this is easier said than done as many of us struggle with understanding who we really are in the midst of life’s ups and downs. In a comprehensive guide, Pastor Steve Langford describes the spiritual journey involved in discovering our unique, authentic self that stands in contrast to the false or constructed self that the world pressures us to be. After identifying the role of anxiety and fear in the manufacture of the false self, Dr. Langford describes what is involved in the journey along with the tools, concepts, and skills that resource the journey. He also describes how our experience of life is different when we move beyond the sabotaging power of the anxiety-driven constructed self and begin to live out of the true self. A guide for personal reflection and small group study follows each chapter. Discovering Your True Self describes the journey that leads us to move beyond the false self the world proclaimed we should be and embrace the true self, the person God created us to be.
