Against this backdrop of the intensifying geopolitical and geo-economic competition between the U.S. and China, this book calls for the revival and reinvigoration of selected Eurasian small powers’ embedded geopolitical, political-economic and strategic-cultural structures. Drawing on Pierre Bourdieu’s notion of habitus, the book argues that these self- changing and unceasingly structuring structures do not only constrain and limit, but also enable and galvanize small powers’ strategists and policy- makers to proactively generate creative means-and-ends calculations, conduct prudent security assessments, and devise measured and responsive strategic deployments. In this context, the book proposes that the small powers return to their own religious, cultural and intellectual roots. It also argues for the need to rediscover their own strategic cultures as an essential means of re-inventing and implementing their own unique models of national development. As a substantial contribution to the subfields of small power politics and strategic cultures in international relations, the book marks a paradigm shift in both theory and practice. Exploring historical case studies from such diverse African, Asian and European powers as the Philippines, Liberia, Myanmar, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand, Germany, Japan, Indonesia, Russia, the European Union, Ukraine, Poland and the United Kingdom as well as China, the book presents engaging dialogues with a wealth of classical and contemporary Western and non-Western strategic thinkers, including: Thucydides, Sun Tzu, Halford Mackinder, Kautilya, King Solomon, Li Zongwu, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Karl Haushofer, Carl Schmitt and the Malayo-Polynesian datu, as well as John Mearsheimer. Comenzando con el primer capítulo de estrategia se habla sobre la relación entre tecnología y negocio. Se mencionan también algunos de los principales riesgos de los negocios. 2. En este primer capítulo de finanzas se le introduce al lector todo lo que necesario para comprender los capítulos venideros de estrategia, puede decirse que este es un capítulo de carácter académico. 3. Prosiguiendo con el tercer capítulo del trabajo, se habla en este de la industria madura y los posicionamientos en la misma desde un punto de vista estratégico. 4. En el cuarto bloque, espejo del tercero, se ratifica lo mencionado en el anterior haciendo uso de los estados financieros. 5. En quinto lugar se encuentra el capítulo de estrategia en el que se habla de la etapa de desarrollo de las industrias. 6. El sexto es el capítulo referente al quinto, en este se continúa con el mismo procedimiento y se reflejan en este mediante ratios e indicadores lo explicado en el quinto capítulo. 7. Para terminar con los capítulos de estrategia se habla en este sobre los modelos de negocio y las maneras de innovar a partir de ellos, generando así una nueva industria o una nueva propuesta de valor. 8. Finalmente en el octavo capítulo se toma una industria disruptiva y se analiza esta desde el punto de vista financiero.

Nos dimos cuenta que la estrategia o la estrategia empresarial, cuando la tenían, sólo se concebía entre el director y algún personal directivo clave y estos se juntaban al final de cada año para hacer la Planeación Estratégica de la empresa. Debemos comentar que algunos tenían éxito, pero para la gran mayoría de ellos, la estrategia era romántica, un esfuerzo desgarrador y un calvario, pues no sucedía, debido a que el día a día, la operación diaria y todos los problemas que surgen por malos procesos o falta de estandarización, impedían tener tiempo para dar seguimiento a lo planeado en la estrategia, y como es lógico, si había otras cosas o actividades más urgentes, lo de la estrategia se posponía, y como esto sucedía frecuentemente, al final de un año no acontecía nada o muy poco de lo planeado se había llevado a cabo, y como la estrategia se hace cada año se volvían a juntar para planear el siguiente año, y bueno... pues esto es el cuento de nunca acabar. Un cuento que probablemente has escuchado desde hace años y, que como te darás cuenta, no tiene un final alentador, mucho menos feliz.
