Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revelations of Humanity brings together essays into the history and actuality of how our searches for God and for our own humanity are interwoven. They argue that the revelation of God is possible only when accompanied by a revelation of what it means to be a human being. Revelation implies that the truth is not fully evident in either case. This quest is aided in many of the essays by a recollection of the thought of Thomas Aquinas. As opposed to simple memory, recollection implies that memory has been lost or become clouded, here by the misrepresentation of Thomas’ view of humanity’s relation to God as harmonistic, at best semi-Pelagian, often even naturalistic. This difficult recovery is made possible by historical research that alone can escape the easy systematic alienation that supporters and critics of Thomas have often brought to their interpretation of his works. Thomas’s sense of a real but finite capacity of human beings for God, his grace and revelation, anticipates in more ways than is commonly known much of contemporary suspicion about human capacities, but in ways that are open to God. That programmatic insight into the historical Thomas, keenly aware of human entanglements, limits and hopes, offers on many contemporary issues a ressourcement of systematic thought. Revelations of Humanity revolves around three clusters of issues. The first asks about the reality and limits of the human capacity for truth: in metaphysical, moral and political matters and in relation to the disputed issues of analogous reason and faith. The second cluster is structured around the four involvements that the Second Vatican Council identified as the human face of genuine Christian existence: participation in the legitimate joys, hopes, sorrows and fears of the contemporary world. These are refracted in the broken light of the human proprium of risibility, the abiding uncertainty addressed by hope, the disputed question of a suffering God and the recollection of Christ’s anxiety in the face of death. The final cluster brings together anthropological dimensions of current ecumenical and interreligious disputes: the need to complement affirmation with admonition in ecumenical conversation, exemplified by the ambivalence towards sacrifice in a genuinely Catholic theology and the need to avoid the excesses of univocity, equivocity or an all too facile analogy in the determination of interreligious relationalities.

Two thousand years later, we are still reading it and trying to wrap our heads around its contents. Pastor Pierre Rosa takes a thoughtful and pragmatic approach to this challenging apocalyptic literature. Through his careful study, he teaches us how to interpret prophetic biblical texts, while applying the timeless truths we find to our present-day lives. If the book of Revelation has ever stumped you, you'll appreciate the straightforward and understandable way Dr. Rosa explains it. God wants to reveal His redemptive plan to the world. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Revelation is a work of profound theology. But its literary form makes it impenetrable to many modern readers and open to all kinds of misinterpretations. Richard Bauckham explains how the book's imagery conveyed meaning in its original context and how the book's theology is inseparable from its literary structure and composition. Revelation is seen to offer not an esoteric and encoded forecast of historical events but rather a theocentric vision of the coming of God's universal kingdom, contextualised in the late first-century world dominated by Roman power and ideology. It calls on Christians to confront the political idolatries of the time and to participate in God's purpose of gathering all the nations into his kingdom. Once Revelation is properly grounded in its original context it is seen to transcend that context and speak to the contemporary church. This study concludes by highlighting Revelation's continuing relevance for today.

Book excerpt: This volume is a first-ever companion to the intellectually and pastorally stimulating work of Louis-Marie Chauvet, one of the most important systematic theologians of liturgy and sacraments in recent times. In this trans-Atlantic venture, pairs of leading thinkers continue the development of sacramental-liturgical theology along six lines of Chauvet's thought: fundamental theology, Scripture and sacrament, ecclesiology, liturgy and ethics, theology and the social sciences, and the theological anthropology of symbolism. Embracing his constant attention to faith is actual practice in history, these francophone and anglophone authors test numerous of Chauvet's insights in the face of new challenges for the church and world, the ongoing mediation of the humanity of God" revealed in the crucified and risen Christ. Louis-Marie Chauvet retired in 2008 from the faculty of theology at the Institute Catholique de Paris, while continuing his work as pastor of Saint-Leu-la-Foret in the Diocese of Pontoise, just outside Paris. He is author of Symbol and Sacrament: A Sacramental Reinterpretation of Christian Existence and The Sacraments: The Word of God at the Mercy of the Body, both published by Liturgical Press. Philippe Bordeyne is professor of theological ethics and dean of the faculty of theology at the Institut Catholique de Paris. Bruce T. Morrill, SJ, holds the Edward A. Maloy Chair of Catholic Studies in the divinity school at Vanderbilt University where he is also Professor of Theological Studies. In addition to numerous journal articles, book chapters, and reviews, he has published several books, most recently Encountering Christ in the Eucharist: The Paschal Mystery in People, Word, and Sacrament (Paulist Press, 2012). His most recent book with liturgical Press is Divine Worship and Human Healing: Liturgical Theology at the Margins of Life and Death Pueblo/Liturgical Press, 2009). "

The book explains how the deceitfulness of riches and the idea of having power is the main culprit wreaking havoc in the minds of people of every nation in the world. The book is intriguing because its many revelations received through dreams and visions are designed to arouse the fascination and curiosity of the reader. The content of the book is extraordinary because the Spirit explains what needs to be done to repair the safety net that once covered America and kept her safe. The book is powerful because its author while under the supernatural and miraculous power of the Holy Spirit teaches the reader how to go within to find wealth, power and creativity. The book is not a religious book because in the beginning of time the Creator formed and made Man and placed within his Spirit and Soul riches, power, healing and wealth. It is prophetic and provocative because the revelations are intended to stimulate a welcome reaction of excitement in the souls of its reader. Revelations of Truth for Humanity is not a bedtime story book to be read by everyone. Yet, the reader who is ready to plug into his/her inner strength and knowledge and power will read the material making sure to chew and digest the content most applicable to his own personal condition or situation. In an age of competing world-views, what is the basis of the Christian claim to offer the truth about God, the world and ourselves? David Heywood charts a path through the study of human knowledge, showing how the insights of theology, philosophy and psychology complement and amplify one another, and bringing the experience of revelation within the scope of the study of human learning. He shows the relationship between human psychology and the work of the Holy Spirit and demonstrates the credibility of the Christian claim to a transforming knowledge of God in Jesus Christ. Offering a new model for the relationship of theology to the natural and social sciences, David Heywood shows how the claim of Christian theology to deal in issues of universal truth can be upheld. For Christian education, this book provides a theological rationale for the use of methods of teaching and learning of educationally proven effectiveness.

Book excerpt: Twin Flames and numerous advanced souls are presently re-uniting across the planet to complete their mission at this critical juncture in Earth's ascension. Humanity has long been trapped by the forces of darkness that have brought about much suffering and despair. Today the world stands poised to emerge from the spiritual wilderness as increasing numbers of souls awaken to their true purpose; to reconnect to their spiritual origins and serve their fellow brothers and sisters. If they are successful, they will transition to a higher dimension. Alas, unseen forces are working hard to stop humanities ascension and it will take the combined efforts of Twin Flames, Star Seeds and other advanced souls to bring the balance of power back into humanities favor. The time is fast approaching when the presently unfolding worldwide events will reach their prophesized conclusion. Will the souls of humanity be ready for a fifth dimensional existence or will they be required to experience further three-dimensional lessons? Worst still, might they be coerced into another dimension altogether, further delaying their return to their true home? This is the sixth time that humanity has attempted to ascend from this planet and it has required a substantial degree of interplanetary and spiritual assistance just to get this far. These souls have come to live the path of unconditional love knowing that there are no barriers that true love cannot overcome. Remarkably and despite high levels of intervention the final result still appears to hang in the balance. This book details the journey of one such advanced soul, his twin flame, his soul mates and their journey prior to and after answering the call to help liberate humanity. It details the relationship between other planetary races, especially those from the Sirius, Orion and Alpha Draconis star systems and Earth based humans. This work is not only an action-based adventure but also a love story; following the powerful bond of love that

Book excerpt: In 1989, in response to Richard Schenk's doctoral dissertation, Josef Ratzinger wrote that "the only way to bring fresh wind into systematic theology is to connect looking back at the great masters in the history of the faith with questioning anew and more profoundly in the horizon of our times." Soundings in the History of a Hope offers Schenk's experimental attempts to meet these requirements for the renewal of systematics, looking above all to St. Thomas Aquinas and some of his patristic sources, contemporary critics, and later readers in order to retrieve seminal ideas for addressing issues that would continue to develop after Thomas's time. The essays in this volume examine interreligious relationality, hope and doubt, human labor and mortality, structures of nature, movements of history, and events of grace and failure-between the gaudium et spes of today's world and its many "sorrows and worries." A Native of California, Richard Schenk, of, is a Roman Catholic priest of the Western Dominican Province of the Order of Preachers. He studies in Santa Barbara, Berkeley, and Munich, and taught philosophy and theology in Berkeley and Fichstätt, Germany. He directed centers of philosophical and theological research in Hannover, Germany, and Washington, DC. From 2011 to 2014, he served as president of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does man seek in religion, and what should he seek in it? How does God reveal Himself in order to bring man to a knowledge of the Truth? How does suffering help this revelation to occur? These and other questions were discussed by Fr. Seraphim Rose, an Orthodox Christian monk from the mountains of northern California, during a lecture he gave at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 1981. The contents of this lecture comprise God's Revelation to the Human Heart. Drawing from a variety of sources -- the Holy Scriptures, patristic writings, the lives of both ancient and modern saints, and accounts of persecuted Christians behind the Iron Curtain -- Fr. Seraphim goes to the core of all Christian life: the conversion of the heart of man, which causes it to bum with love for Christ and transforms one into a new being.
