This book was released on 2019-07-18 with total page 629 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book of Revelation is a fascinating book of the Bible. It is in a prominent position of the Bible being the climactic conclusion of God's redemptive plan. The conclusion of a story is always vital to that story. This book is an unveiling of the fulfillment of God's prophetic plan. It's where we discover how things are going to turn out in the end. It's where we find the outcome of age-old battles and the reality of truth claims. Revelation can be an intimidating portion of the Bible. A cursory reading of the material reveals the style its written in is different from most other sections of the Bible. For this reason, some choose to stay away from this portion of scripture. Some pastors refuse to teach this great book at all. Practical Revelations from the Revelation of Jesus Christ is a practical inductive Bible study. Our objective is not only to observe and interpret the contents of this great book, but to glean practical truths that can be practically applied to life. This is a book for new believers as well as the seasoned Christian. For regardless of where you are on the spectrum of spiritual development, there are very valuable practical truths to be discovered in this fantastic portion of scripture. I invite you to prayerfully join me in our venture of faith through Revelation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most evangelical Christians believe that those people who are not saved before they die will be punished in hell forever. But is this what the Bible truly teaches? Do Christians need to rethink their understanding of hell? In the late twentieth century, a growing number of evangelical theologians, biblical scholars, and philosophers began to reject the traditional doctrine of eternal conscious torment in hell in favor of a minority theological perspective called conditional immortality. This view contends that the unsaved are resurrected to face divine judgment, just as Christians have always believed, but due to the fact that immortality is only given to those who are in Christ, the unsaved do not exist forever in hell. Instead, they face the punishment of the "second death"--an end to their conscious existence. This volume brings together excerpts from a variety of well-respected evangelical thinkers, including John Stott, John Wenham, and E. Earl Ellis, as they articulate the biblical, theological, and philosophical arguments for conditionalism. These readings will give thoughtful Christians strong evidence that there are indeed compelling reasons for rethinking hell.

Book excerpt: The NIV Application Commentary helps you communicate and apply biblical text effectively in today's context. What can we know about the book of Revelation? What should we make of its visions of apocalyptic horsemen, horns with faces, flying angels, and fantastic beasts? Most important, what meaning does it hold for us here and now, and how can we apply it to our lives? Craig S. Keener shares perspectives on Revelation and helps us strengthen our hope in the future while living out our faith wisely in the present. To bring the ancient messages of the Bible into today's context, each passage is treated in three sections: Original Meaning. Concise exegesis to help readers understand the original meaning of the biblical text in its historical, literary, and cultural context. Bridging Contexts. A bridge between the world of the Bible and the world of today, built by discerning what is timeless in the timely pages of the Bible. Contemporary Significance. This section identifies comparable situations to those faced in the Bible and explores relevant application of the biblical messages. The author alerts the readers of problems they may encounter when seeking to apply the passage and helps them think through the issues involved. This unique, award-winning commentary is the ideal resource for today's preachers, teachers, and serious students of the Bible, giving them the tools, ideas, and insights they need to communicate God's Word with the same powerful impact it had when it was first written.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The end of the world is coming. From roadside signs to science fiction films, this slogan underscores our society’s nervous fascination with the future. Whether it’s a giant asteroid, a worldwide plague, or some other global catastrophe, the end of the world is a terrifying prospect—at least for those who have no idea what it will be like. For Christians, however, the end of the world should be anything but dreadful. In fact, it should be something we actually look forward to. Why? Because God has told us how the world will end. And He has assured us that the end of this age will mark the beginning of a new, glorious one in which we will serve and worship Him in sinless perfection. Our eternal hope, as believers, is intimately tied to the end of this world. All of this is laid out in the book of Revelation. Not only is Revelation the inspired Word of God, it is also the only New Testament book that includes a promised spiritual blessing for those who study and apply its message. As such, it is an essential part of every Christian’s devotional life. Those who ignore Revelation deprive themselves of a rich treasure of divine truth, and the promised blessings that come from understanding that truth. Join John MacArthur as he explains the book of Revelation in a way that is both doctrinally precise and intensely practical.

Book excerpt: New York Times bestseller What is Jesus worth to you? It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily... But who do you know who lives like that? Do you? In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus. Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment -- a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.

The Battle for Jerusalem explores the heart of Israel's current struggle, the history behind the antagonism between Arabs and Jews, and the powerful significance of the Temple Mount, a thirty-five acre parcel that is the most fiercely contested real estate on the planet. Hagee explains how this conflict is not merely political or economic, but is also spiritual, with the repercussions of their actions continuing to echo across the world. Most importantly, Hagee illustrates how all the players in this tortuous conflict fit into God's plan for the ages. Previous editions: 0-7852-6788-3, 0-7852-6588-0, and 0-7852-6542-2

This book was released on 2016-03-02 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sky is falling! No, Chicken Little isn't back in vogue. But the end times are upon us. Has your attention been drawn to such themes as Armageddon, the Apocalypse, antichrist, the Rapture, and other such events? TV and movies are including them in ever-increasing measure. The same thing happened at the time of Jesus' birth circa 7 B.C. When the time draws near for Biblical prophecies to be fulfilled, God gets folks interested in them. What does that tell us about today? The "Heavenly Citizens" series serves as a tool to help the Christian understand not only what the Bible teaches us, but also how to study the Bible. Explaining what the Bible teaches is like giving someone a fish to eat. Teaching him how to study the Bible is like teaching someone how to fish so he can feed himself. Both approaches are essential to developing spiritual maturity. "Revelation" is the eleventh volume in the "Heavenly Citizens" series. The Apostle John was exiled by the Roman emperor to the island of Patmos, in the Aegean Sea off modern Turkey. In the solitude he had there, he was visited by Messiah Jesus. The Lord gave him a vision of Himself glorified, a vision even more glorious than what John witnessed on the Mount of Transfiguration. Jesus followed that with a portrayal of the entire Church Age, and then gave a vivid account of the end times. It is customary for folks today to flock to end-times stories. We are fascinated by what we don't know, and we want to get the latest scoop on the unknown, so that we can be one up on everyone else. But that is not the purpose for which God reveals the future to us, as we can ascertain by a quick reading of Deuteronomy 29:29. In keeping with God's purpose, we spend our time in studying "Revelation" by limiting the guess work, which serves only to tickle our fancy, and in its place substitute a practical application of the text to our lives for today. Why did Messiah Jesus reveal these events to the Apostle John? What are we to learn from this revelation, that will help us to live each day like God calls us to live? Yes, this revelation is long and full of exciting details, so we wouldn't dream of leaving any of that out. Truth be told, we spend considerable time on each and every verse in the "Book of Revelation." But if we leave it at that, then we have failed God and ourselves. Messiah Jesus didn't die so that we can be smart and intellectual! He died so that we might have new life, His life in us. That is our guiding principle in studying the "Book of Revelation," viz., how to make better disciples for our Lord. The approach for "Revelation," and for every volume in the "Heavenly Citizens" series, is to teach the student the meaning of Scripture. We also teach him or her how to study the Bible on his/her own. We do this in two ways: we provide a few rules by which to govern our Bible study, and we demonstrate by example how to study the Bible. Experience is an outstanding teacher. In our books we practice the rules for Bible study. By walking through the Bible with us, the reader experiences firsthand what our method of study is like. We believe the student will come out of our studies with both an understanding of the Bible and the ability to truthfully understand the Bible on his/her own. The path lies before you. Walk through the gate and join the journey with us! And may the blessings of the Lord Jesus Christ be yours in abundance.
