A phone call that will change Frankie’s life. Frankie Chandler’s upcoming nuptials suffer a devastating setback when her fiancé, Detective Martin Bowers, is injured on the job. How badly injured? The doctors are mum on his condition, and his colleagues are just as evasive, telling her they don’t know what he was doing on the lonely hillside where he fell. Convinced that the key to Bowers’ recovery lies in finding out what happened, the pet psychic’s only hope for clarity is a gourmand goat who demands payment in pastries before he’ll reveal his secrets. When he does, his responses are confusing…and terrifying. Then Bowers’ very mysterious, possibly dangerous, and definitely skeptical sister, Edith, arrives, and every step forward becomes a battle. As the dysfunctional duo maneuver through suspects, witnesses, and the occasional corpse, the pet psychic decides to go it alone, because Frankie is determined her groom will make it to the church on time…if the killer doesn’t get her first. A devilishly funny peek into a bride-to-be’s nightmares!

Download or read book Managing Sensitive Projects written by Olivier D'Herbemont and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-10-24 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every day, managers must adapt to rapidly changing markets and situations. This book deals with sensitive or difficult projects, ranging from redundancy programs to disposal of radioactive waste, from the launch of a new product to the introduction of a new computer system. The authors use a revolutionary way to manage sensitive projects--the lateral approach. Derived from twenty years' experience working with managers, the lateral approach is a flexible and non- confrontational method that introduces change through an understanding of how people think and act. While communities and organizations often resist change even though they will benefit from it, this approach shows how projects can be successfully managed.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 I was 14 when I visited my aunt’s house in Wisconsin. I was playing with Jay, her son, and his friends, when I learned how to wakeboard. I was warned not to come over anymore, as Jay did not want to play with me anymore. #2 I was not an academic, and I loved sports, drums, and getting the hell out of my house. My parents were strict, and I had to be perfect. I was also forced to go to church. #3 I have learned over the years to be secretive and never share my cares and desires with anyone in my family, so that they can’t be scoffed at or laughed at. I like to think that with retrospect, my parents will wish they had raised me differently. #4 I was a defensive end, offensive right tackle, kickoff returner, punt returner, punter, and kicker in eighth grade. I was always out for blood in sports, and I played to stay out of trouble in school and off the streets.

Download or read book Desire written by Timo Airaksinen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Desire is a rich term meaning wish and want, willingness and relish, appetite and lust. This volume is an effort to analyse the concept of desire and its different practical contexts from a morally philosophic point of view. By analysing multiple definitions and studying underlying motivations, the authors offer a variety of explanations and interpretations. The volume consists of three main parts. The first part, "Desire and Practice," examines desire as a mental state that seeks personal satisfaction. The second part of the volume, "Desire and Moral Life," explores social, cultural, and literary facets of desire. Finally, in the third part, "Business Ethics and Other Contexts," the authors apply PR axiological principles to the business world, examining the conflict between frugality and consumerist ideology, the role of intuition in decision-making, and the need for design education as the basis of effective planning. The contributors to this, the newest volume in Transaction's Praxeology series, seek to explore desire in PR axiological terms, with an eye toward the three E's of praxeology: ethics, effectiveness, and efficiency. In doing so, they demonstrate that desire is central for practical activity in general and work in particular.
Book Synopsis Shame and the Making of Art by : Deborah Cluff
Download or read book Shame and the Making of Art written by Deborah Cluff and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-12-01 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shame remains at the core of much psychological distress and can eventuate as physical symptoms, yet experiential approaches to healing shame are sparse. Links between shame and art making have been felt, intuited, and examined, but have not been sufficiently documented by depth psychologists. Shame and the Making of Art addresses this lacuna by surveying depth psychological conceptions of shame, art, and the role of creativity in healing, contemporary and historical shame ideologies, as well as recent psychobiological studies on shame. Drawing on research conducted with participants in three different countries, the book includes candid discussions of shame experiences. These experiences are accompanied by Cluff’s heuristic inquiry into shame with an interpretative phenomenological analysis that focuses on how participants negotiate the relationship between shame and the making of art. Cluff’s movement through archetypal dimensions, especially Dionysian, is developed and discussed throughout the book. The results of the research are further explicated in terms of comparative studies, wherein the psychological processes and impacts observed by other researchers and effects on self-conscious maladaptive emotions are described. Shame and the Making of Art should be essential reading for academics, researchers, and postgraduate students engaged in the study of psychology and the arts. It will be of particular interest to psychologists, Jungian psychotherapists, psychiatrists, social workers, creativity researchers, and anyone interested in understanding the dynamics of this shame and self-expression.
