Book excerpt: The purpose of this book, Mending Broken Vessels, is to open the Word and show how God can fix all that are broken, Heal all that are hurting, Rebuild that which was torn down. Relationships come and go, but those that remain are tested over time. Then there are some relationships that are supposedly safe-havens to grow and cherish, but that safety can become violated and the results can be devastating. Psalms 34:18 tells us, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

When Hosea goes to Israel to proclaim God's message, the prostitute God tells him to marry turns out to be his childhood friend Gomer. He finds her broken and abused, unwilling to trust Hosea or his God. But when marrying Hosea becomes her only choice, Gomer does what she's good at--she survives. Can Hosea's love for God and God's love for Israel heal Gomer's broken spirit? With her potent combination of in-depth research and masterful storytelling, Mesu Andrews brings to life a complex and fascinating biblical story of the power of love and forgiveness in the face of utter betrayal.

Book excerpt: FULL RESTORATION is not just about divorce! There is no other book like this one! Full Restoration reaches out to any Christian who has sinned in his or her past. Gods restoration is never partial, but complete! You can still be used mightily for God! Full Restoration presents a sound interpretation of 1 Timothy 3:2 The pastoral aspirant is to be one who is a "one woman kind of man". It emphasizes this man's present character, not his past sin. Full Restoration shows that there is not a place in the Bible that says men who have sinned in their past lose their giftedness. With confession and repentance they can be used effectively in ministry again! God's forgiveness and restoration is complete. Even Jesus told Peter after his denial of the Lord, "Feed my sheep"! Full Restoration is for all Christians who have fallen into any sin, but are forgiven and desire to serve the Lord again! May the church see its need to discontinue seeing these precious forgiven and gifted saints as second class citizens...but restored persons who will feed Jesus' sheep!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I never intended for this book to see the light of day. As a matter of fact I published a book last year thinking that I would never publish another. When I suffered my stroke in 1991 I kept a diary of my thoughts and feelings. After about six years I sat down and wrote about my stroke. Recently, I was walking at the park as my cardiac rehabilitation therapist had recommended after my heart attack and bypass in 2009. I was talking to a therapist who works at one of the hospitals and also teaches a class at the local college. She asked me if I would speak to her class about my thoughts and feelings when I had my stroke. I agreed heartily, but also remembered I had written this manuscript. As I read this manuscript those feelings came back. I said to myself that all therapist and those in training should understand those feelings I was having. So here it is... I would like to share with you, the reader, my story. It's a story of tragedy and pain, recovery and hope, of a world shattered and broken, and the road to health and wholeness. It is my story. I'm going to try to share the feelings of lying in a hospital, not being able to move, needing help to go to the bathroom. Hating to call the nurse and having to admit my helplessness. Me, a minister, one who always prided himself on being in control of every situation. Here I lay; my whole world had fallen around me. Would my wife stay with me or would she just go away? Could our marriage of thirteen years take the stress? And what of Philip, our nine year old son, could he take the ribbing from the other children about his brain dead dad? Would Philip be embarrassed to be with his father who walked with a limp? What would all those people say since I had made my living keeping people at arms length all these years? How would I face them, or better yet, could I face them? These questions and many others would pop up in the next few weeks, months and years. I learned real quick what depression was and how it would grip me almost any time of the day. This is my story. I am proud of myself because now I can share it with you. It is said the first sign of recovery is when you can talk about it. I have faced a lot of monsters in the past ten years. There is a story of a young man named Shea. He lived in a small town called Shady Vale. One day a wizard named Allanon came to see him. Allanon told Shea that he was chosen to defeat the dark lord who was destroying the world. Shea was to find the Sword of Shinara and go to mount doom and defeat the dark lord. Well, on the way he meets the elves and dwarfs. He was attacked by the dark lord's underlings. One day he finally reached Mount Doom with the sword of Shinara. There he came face to face with the evil dark lord. Shea to his amazement faced the evil one. The sword reflected his doubts, fears and hopelessness (The Sword of Shinara). You see, the monster that Shea faced was himself. This story consoled me at times. When I was asked to do something I would have "no" on my lips. Then I would ask myself, "what monster are you fighting? Will you give up and give in?" My grandmother told me I was a hard headed person. I'll buy that.

Book excerpt: Today, so many are fearful of the unknown – a crumbling economy, job loss, loneliness, terrorism, tragic news around every corner. We are overwhelmed. Does the security and peace that should come from knowing we are in the hands of a loving God now seem to be an empty promise? Perhaps that’s because we have built our foundation on someone else’s faith – parents’, friend’s, or pastor’s, so we merely inherit a relationship with Jesus, but never find our own. A true storyteller and a teacher with a heart for ministry, Mark Hall traces the tragic, downward spiral that leads to a life of fear and spiritual compromise, and then charts the hopeful, upward road to the joy and confidence that comes when we claim our very own Jesus. Through fascinating personal stories, scriptural insights, and practical interactive studies, Your Own Jesus will liberate readers from compromise and empower them with joy and confidence.

In faith, though doubting and crying out to a God of love, hope springs up and grows increasingly with trust until the light bursts through the small opening in the trees. Now when you see clearly, life takes on new meaning. In Railroad Crossings to Restoration: Looking Back and Pressing Forward, Larene speaks from the heart in truth and love, remembering the journey she had traveled in the darkest moments of her life. This journey would not be like the last. It was not one where she knew the landmarks and where God would show her the paths to take to get there, filling in the blank spaces between. No. This journey was different. With no landmarks on the map and no knowledge of where she was going, she would need to trust God as He took her uncertain hand and made this new journey a mystery, an adventure, a venture into a newfound land of faith.

Book excerpt: Broken Vessels is a six week study reminding us that chasing idols always leads to brokenness, and our lives were meant to tell the story of the hope God offers His children when they turn toward him to meet every need and deep longing. Instead of covering up the hard chapters of our lives, we can share the hope we found in the dark by reframing the way we view brokenness born in self-sufficiency. By allowing God to adjust the way we look at past losses and challenges, we can start living a better story today. Readers will have a clearer understanding of how they can let the cracks in their vessels tell the whole story of losses that were healed by the Living Water.Broken Vessels can be a private, personal journey or completed with a friend or small group. It was written as a six-week study; each week has a chapter to read, five days of reflection, and journal opportunities along the way. Each day of reflection is intended to provide a time to dig deeper in scripture. The point of digging deeper is to connect the dots throughout the Old and New Testaments, and to provide an opportunity to consider how God might want to reframe things you have held as truth or conviction. There is space provided to write your thoughts directly in the book, but you may also want to grab a journal to record your thoughts.

Book excerpt: Broken Vessels is Dr. Mark Denison's latest book on recovery from sexual brokenness. This is unique because a pastor writes this book for pastors. Bringing his unique perspective as a senior pastor of 31 years, along with his personal story of sexual brokenness and recovery, Denison addresses difficult subjects that most would never touch. This book answers several difficult questions. "Can a man love God and porn at the same time?" "Why do 37% of pastors struggle with pornography?" "What makes pastors susceptible to sexual brokenness?" "What are the three basic causes of sexual addiction?" "What are the four keys to recovery?" "Once a pastor has fallen, can he pastor again?" Denison tackles some tough theological issues tied to sexual brokenness as he drills down into the deeper issues behind "the issue." But this book is not just for pastors. It is a must-read for all church leaders. Given that three out of eight men on staff at your church have this problem, your church needs to have a ready response when the crisis hits. Only 7% of churches have an answer to this pandemic. If your church is among the other 93%, this book serves as a roadmap to navigate the choppy waters you will inevitably face. Denison offers a step-by-step approach to addressing the issues of addiction and pornography. There is an added benefit to this in-depth look at one of the church's greatest challenges of this generation. Seventeen brave pastors from all over the world have been courageous enough to tell their personal stories of addiction and recovery. You will be moved and inspired as you read their stories of pain, abandonment, trauma, addiction, and restoration. Broken Vessels is unlike any book written on the subject of porn and sexual addiction. It will be an enormous addition to your library and the ministry of the church. If you are a church leader, you need this book. If you are a pastor, you must have this book! Dr. Mark Denison, along with his wife Beth, is the founder of There's Still Hope, a recovery ministry for those who have fallen to sexual brokenness. Mark leads men through his acclaimed 90- Day Recovery course and leads seven weekly recovery groups, including one that is held specifically for pastors. Mark and Beth also lead several recovery groups for couples. Mark serves as a Recovery Specialist for C3 Global Net-work, which offers resources to hundreds of churches. Addition-ally, Mark is a frequent speaker for Iron Sharpens Iron, Come to the Table, Castimonia, and other national conferences. Mark is the founding pastor of Recovery Church, with campuses in Flor-ida, Texas, and online. For over 30 years, Dr. Denison served as a senior pastor to three churches in Texas. His education includes a D.Min. (South-western Baptist Theological Seminary), M.Div. (SWBTS), MAHS (Liberty University), and B.A. (Houston Baptist University). Mark is also a trained PSAP (Pastoral Sex Addiction Professional), and has been trained by Celebrate Recovery. Married since 1983, Mark and Beth live in Bradenton, Florida near their son, and are proud parents to an adorable Shih-Tzu.

It combines essays from both archaeologists and biblical scholars whose subject matter, whilst differing widely in both geographical and chronological terms, also shares a critical stance used to examine the relationship between 'dirt' archaeology and the biblical world as presented to us through written sources.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1944, C. G. Jung experienced a series of visions which he later described as "the most tremendous things I have ever experienced." Central to these visions was the "mystic marriage as it appears in the Kabbalistic tradition", and Jung’s experience of himself as "Rabbi Simon ben Jochai," the presumed author of the sacred Kabbalistic text, the Zohar. Kabbalistic Visions explores Jung’s 1944 Kabbalistic visions, the impact of Jewish mysticism on Jungian psychology, Jung’s archetypal interpretation of Kabbalistic symbolism, and his claim late in life that a Hasidic rabbi, the Maggid of Mezhirech, anticipated his entire psychology. This book places Jung’s encounter with the Kabbalah in the context of the earlier visions and meditations of his Red Book, his abiding interests in Gnosticism and alchemy, and what many regard to be his Anti-Semitism and flirtation with National Socialism. Kabbalistic Visions is the first full-length study of Jung and Jewish mysticism in any language and the first book to present a comprehensive Jungian/archetypal interpretation of Kabbalistic symbolism.
