Most people struggle to heal what has been broken by negative experiences in their lives. What we do with our experiences can make the difference between staying broken and being rebuilt. The Bible tells us over and over that there is glory in our sufferings. But what does that mean for people who wrestle with dark issues like trauma, abuse, shame, self-criticism, depression, and anxiety? In this study journal, author LeeAnna shares her experiences as a child abuse survivor who has battled brokenness in many forms. Using her story alongside God’s revelation, she takes you through the steps of discovering your own healing testimony. Together, you will dive into the scriptures to uncover seven truths about God’s restoration for the broken, including you. As you journal, you will discover the following: • What limitations your brokenness has over you • Why brokenness is contagious and how it can be stopped • What rebuilding looks like from the inside-out • What true inspiration really is and how to receive it • How to overcome being exhausted by your brokenness • The importance of your unique story and situation in God’s world • What promises God uses to rebuild you This journal will take you step by step through a new understanding of what God says about brokenness without watering down the truth. Book excerpt: Thomas Jackstraw, heir to a long family tradition of proud military men, was drummed out of West Point twenty years ago when he wouldn’t denounce fellow cadets for cheating. In the two decades since, he has traveled the world as a highly paid mercenary, training Third World armies and guerrilla factions and sometimes leading them into battle. After his young bride dies in a suspicious car crash, he grows disillusioned and retreats from the world of emotion. His latest job takes him to a small backwater republic in South America, where he spends his nights drinking and his days trying to build an army from a ragtag group of rebels. So when Jackstraw, an excellent marksman, is offered a small fortune to fake the assassination of a U.S. vice-presidential candidate, things get really complicated—especially when he and the attractive, amoral politician, Rachel Valentine, meet and hit it off very, very well. Jackstraw suspects a double-cross, however, and plots an alternate escape route. But he’s a step behind the trickery. When the staged shooting goes horribly awry, he barely survives and makes his way back to the U.S., where he becomes a fugitive hunted by every law enforcement agency in the nation. As he works his way across the country, he must use all his considerable skills to evade capture and turn the tables on the shadowy forces conspiring against him. From the jungles of South America and the peaks of the Rocky Mountains to the backrooms and bedrooms of a presidential campaign, Jackstraw is both a thrilling adventure story, and a tangled tale of redemption, greed, power—and even love.

Book excerpt: For more than two hundred years, the Tsar's private and elite soldiers have been the core of order and stability in civilized Russia. The Imperial Life Guards were formed in 1690, and their reputation is legendary. In southern Ukraine in the 1850s, however, the historic canvas of decay and poisonous alliances are weakening traditional monarchies and governments. Political unrest abounds, and medieval processes are giving way to contemporary acts of insurrection, greed and disloyalty. Growing up in a small village, young Samuel Orloff is obsessed with learning everything he can about his father's secret past, the Imperial Life Guards, and their mission. Amid a sea of chaotic change, Samuel's father rescues Charles Kovnik, an injured Imperial Life Guard, from a creek near their home and nurses him back to life. Now mentored by Charles and bound by inseparable events beyond his control, Samuel discovers life paths are not always chosen as revelations about his family's history become just as important as the realization for his future. The Tsar's Guard is the compelling story of a boy's coming-of-age journey in mid-nineteenth-century Russia as he attempts to fulfill his dream of becoming one of the Tsar's trusted Imperial Life Guards.

Over a period of 42 days the congregation held daily prayer meetings, approximately 40 worship gatherings that often extended more than three hours, baptized a half-dozen new believers, received more than 24 hours of individual public confession and repentance of sin, confessed and turned from six sins of which the church family was corporately guilty, rejoiced in the healing of relationships and families, and experienced the renewing grace of God in dozens of life-changing ways.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Compliant Offshore Structures deals with some aspects of the mechanics of compliant offshore structures. Analysis methods for determining the hydrostatic and hydrodynamic behavior, at wave frequencies only, of conventional and novel compliant structure types are described. The contribution of hull configuration for tandem hull vessels and of pneumatic compliances for ship shape and semi-submersible vessels is also emphasized. Comprised of 11 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the various conventional and emerging methods of hydrostatic and hydrodynamic analysis that are available for characterizing compliant marine structures. The response of compliant structures to ocean waves is given emphasis, along with the hydrostatic stability of a compliant vessel. The discussion then turns to the use of analysis methods for a variety of conventional and novel compliant structures such as semi-submersibles, ship forms, tensioned buoyant platforms, crane vessels, and vertical marine risers. However, those compliant structures that are believed to have a future application or, alternatively, are useful in illustrating an interesting performance feature are also considered. Among such structures are those with articulated joints, pneumatic compliances, and tandem hull marine vehicles. This monograph is intended for practicing engineers as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students.
