Download or read book Molecular Switches written by Ben L. Feringa and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-08-04 with total page 814 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Structure and Dynamics of Strongly Interacting Colloids and Supramolecular Aggregates in Solution by : Sow-Hsin Chen
Download or read book Structure and Dynamics of Strongly Interacting Colloids and Supramolecular Aggregates in Solution written by Sow-Hsin Chen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 848 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last decade, various powerful experimental tools have been developed, such as small angle X-ray and neutron scattering, X-ray and neutron reflection from interfaces, neutron spin-echo spectroscopy and quasi-elastic multiple light scattering and large scale computer simulations. Due to the rapid progress brought about by these techniques, one witnesses a resurgence of interest in the physicochemical properties of colloids, surfactants and macromolecules in solution. Although these disciplines have a long history, they are at present rapidly transforming into a new, interdisciplinary research area generally known as complex liquids or soft condensed matter physics: names that reflect the considerable involvement of the chemical and condensed matter physicists. This book is based on lectures given at a NATO ASI held in the summer of 1991 and discusses these new developments, both in theory and experiment. It constitutes the most up-to-date and comprehensive summary of the entire field.

Book Synopsis Langmuir-Blodgett Films, 1982 by : G.G. Roberts
Download or read book Langmuir-Blodgett Films, 1982 written by G.G. Roberts and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-10-26 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thin Films Science and Technology, Volume 3: Langmuir–Blodgett Films, 1982 presents the developments and complementary methods for the production of ultrathin films. This book evaluates the process technology and potential of the films. Organized into two parts encompassing 48 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the idea that the Langmuir–Blodgett method of superimposing fatty acid monolayers might be suitably modified. This text then examines the behavior of anisotropic photoconductivities in Langmuir films of rhodanine containing merocyanines with three donor nuclei diluted with arachidic acid. Other chapters describe the characteristic of pure Langmuir–Blodgett films of porphyrins. This book discusses as well the preliminary resonance Raman spectroscopy experiments on Langmuir–Blodgett films made of a small number of porphyrin layers. The final chapter deals with the need to fabricate small structures in electronic devices because of the advantages of cost and speed. This book is a valuable resource for scientists and engineers.
Book Synopsis Nanoscience and Nanotechnology by : Glenn Clayton
Download or read book Nanoscience and Nanotechnology written by Glenn Clayton and published by Scientific e-Resources. This book was released on 2018-12-14 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nanotechnology combines solid state physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, biochemistry and biophysics, and materials science. It is a highly interdisciplinary area, meaning that it involves ideas integrated from many traditional discipline. Quantum nanoscience is the application of quantum theory to the design of new nanoscale materials and devices. Quantum Nanoscience explains functionality and structure in natural or engineered nanoscale systems through quantum mechanisms such as discretisation, superposition and entanglement. In the 19th century, decades of practice with heat engines led to the new science of thermodynamics. The understanding of the world captured by thermodynamics is now part of the fabric of engineering and effective design across a vast range of different technologies. Thermodynamics, quantum nanoscience is an enabling science for engineering and design of new nanotechnologies. Molecular nanotechnology (MNT) is a technology based on the ability to build structures to complex, atomic specifications by means of mechanosynthesis. This is distinct from nanoscale materials. Based on Richard Feynman's vision of miniature factories using nanomachines to build complex products (including additional nanomachines), this advanced form of nanotechnology (or molecular manufacturing) would make use of positionally-controlled mechanosynthesis guided by molecular machine systems. MNT would involve combining physical principles demonstrated by chemistry, other nanotechnologies, and the molecular machinery of life with the systems engineering principles found in modern macroscale factories. This book introduces the reader to the world of nanotechnology by giving them in-depth details of different aspects of the field.
