This book was released on 2014-12-27 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Urologists were early adaptors of robotic assisted laparoscopy, and pediatric urology similarly led in incorporating the technology into the surgical armamentarium for treating even the smallest infants. And it is in that tradition that this issue of Urologic Clinics of North America surveys the journey from the earliest pure laparoscopic procedures to the most advanced reconstruction possible today due to evolutions in technology. The issue begins with the procedure that arguably popularized the laparoscopic approach in pediatric urology—the laparoscopic orchiopexy, then posit the continued relevance of pure laparoscopy in the robotic era, before finally surveying contemporary advances in robotic-assisted pediatric urologic surgery. The issue is of relevance not only tor the novice contemplating a transition to laparoscopy or robotics but also for the seasoned minimally invasive surgeon seeking to enhance skills and augment his or her practice.
Book Synopsis Functional Reconstruction of the Urinary Tract and Gynaeco-Urology by : Richard Turner-Warwick
Download or read book Functional Reconstruction of the Urinary Tract and Gynaeco-Urology written by Richard Turner-Warwick and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2002-07-09 with total page 1068 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This lavishly illustrated operative atlas consists of detailed, step-by-step descriptions of the procedures used in reconstruction of the female urinary tract from the kidney to the urethra. It is based on the extensive operative experience of two very experienced reconstructive urologists. The procedures described have been devised compeletely afresh or considerably developed during the course of many thousands of operations and thus represent a unique collection. Many of the procedures and "tips" have not been published before. The approach taken throughout the book is a functional one. The basic principles underlying reconstrucive urology are outlined and emphasis is placed on the fact that the logic of each procedure is dictated by a thorough understanding of the particular functional abnormality involved. In addition there is a wealth of practical tips, observations and clinical pearls built up over many years of surgical experience which help to reduce complications and make operations easier. Each operative procedure is described by a sequence of colour photographs with running captions explaining the pitfalls and points of particular importance at each stage. It will be an indispensible guide to reconstructive urology for urologists and gynaecologists alike.
Book Synopsis Bone Cements and Cementing Technique by : U. Henze
Download or read book Bone Cements and Cementing Technique written by U. Henze and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: G. H. I. M. WALENKAMP, D. W. MURRAY Since the first use of bone cement, there has been much discussion about this important tool in arthroplasty. Many authors consider the cemented prosthesis as the gold standard when evaluating the outcome of primary prostheses. In a large number of total hip arthroplasties, as registered in the Scandi navian Hip Registers, important differences in revision risks have been docu mented between hospitals. These differences are partly due to the use of di verse cement techniques. In the analysis of data, the influence of these tech niques, as well as the different cement types, is clear. A recent disaster with a newly developed cement also illustrated that the quality of the cement must be assured, and that the introduction of a new material must be carefully prepared and followed-up. The new Palamed cement has been developed by the makers of the well known Palacos and Refobacin Palacos, which appeared to be the best ce ments in the Swedish register. An improvement was noted in slightly better handling characteristics, but the end product is the same as Palacos. As men tioned, this cement will be carefully followed-up in the near future. However, its introduction is a good reason to gather the expertise of some of the lead ing figures in the field in this book. II History of Bone Cements CHAPTER 2. 1 Industrial Development of Bone Cement Twenty-Five Years of Experience w. EGE, K. D.

Book Synopsis Operative Techniques in Arterial Surgery by : A.S. Ward
Download or read book Operative Techniques in Arterial Surgery written by A.S. Ward and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 759 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to provide a detailed account of the technical aspects of present day arterial surgery. It is hoped that the book will be more than just a manual of operative procedures and that it will provide the reader with an overall strategic plan when faced with a vascular problem. Emphasis has been placed throughout on careful preoperative assessment particularly at the sites of arterial involvement so that the most appropriate reconstruction technique can be selected. Meticulous attention to operative detail during each stage of a vascular reconstruc tion remains the basis for success. For this reason the various procedures in this book are described in step-by-step fashion aided by a large number of drawings. An updated bibliography citing the work of other authors is also included. Vascular surgery by its very nature introduces changes in vessel compliance and geometry and these may be the starting point for subsequent complications. In addition, complications may occur as a result of progression of the underlying vascular disorder. An appreciable portion of this work has therefore been devoted to the prevention, recognition and treatment of these complications.
