Book excerpt: Recruiting For The Future There is no doubt that every industry in this country has undergone incredible transformation over the past decade. But something else has changed as well--how we attract the talent needed to make those changes work. Recruiting and attracting great people is becoming tougher and tougher. What might have worked twenty years ago doesn't work now. The mindset of the future workforce is diff erent than anything prior. The traditional methods of interrogating talent don't work with this future workforce. They must be courted and attracted in addition to being vetted, and there must be a balance between selling and courting while you are vetting. In his book, Recruiting the Future of Medicine, author David Wolfe navigates this new recruiting landscape, helping you to: - learn how to tell your company's story in order to attract top performing candidates, - utilize the nine-step recruiting process to attract the future workforce, - avoid mis-hires and only hire the best available people, - fully understand the motives of a candidate and how to speak to those motives, and - fully understand what will retain and motivate the future workforce. With his guidance, you'll learn how to recruit better people sooner, thus gaining a competitive advantage in the market as yours becomes a world class organization.

Book excerpt: During the last five years, clinical research and development costs have risen exponentially without a proportionate increase in the number of new medications. While patient recruitment for clinical studies is only one component in the development of a new medicine or treatment, it is one of the most significant bottlenecks in the overall drug development process. Now it is imperative that industry leaders see beyond reactive measures and recognize that advancing their approach to patient recruitment is absolutely essential to advancing medicine and continuing the stability of their corporate brand across the globe. Reinventing Patient Recruitment: Revolutionary Ideas for Clinical Trial Success is a definitive guide to planning, implementing and evaluating recruitment strategies and campaigns globally. The combined experience of the authors provides a depth of perspective and boldness of innovative leadership to set the standards for future patient recruitment programs and practices. This book is a must-have for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industry professionals concerned with enrolling for domestic and multinational clinical studies and remaining on time and on budget.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The youth of the ocean floors (0- .3Ma) verses the age of plate tectonics (2-3 Ma) suggests strongly that plate tectonics is cyclic. Densified silicate liquid(Ls) at about 290km depth suggests that it could be the ingredient that lightens the outer core as well as an active ingredient in its activities along with lower mantle phases high density magnesium provoskite (MgPv), calcium perovskite (CaPv), magnesiumwustite (Mw), iron(Ir) and iron liquid(Lm) plus isobarically and isothermally invariant liquid phases. Unstable convective contacts among these phases at all levels produce heat as they tend toward stable equilibrium. This heat expands against the earth's mantle and even causes the inner core to melt with 5cc\g. Eventually, the core-mantle boundary fails along lines and / or points to allow for the exit of densified silicate liquid. This liquid reacts with the lower mantle to produce unique liquids FOZO for oceanic island basalts and C-Component for the ridge and rise basalts ofthe Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans. It is thought that these ejected liquids react to form hot solid plumes of low viscosity that ascend to 290 km where they melt on decompression to basalt that ascends further to create oceanic crust. Sea-floor spreading followed by subduction to the earth's core where the cycle ends to begin... again and again. A hypothetical ternary system is used to illustrate the cycle from beginning to end. Experimental evidence indicates that the core-mantle boundary may be as simple as a quaternary reaction: MgPv + CaPv +Mw = Ls + Lm, where Ls probably contains some Fe203.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How we recruit future healthcare professionals is critically important, as the demand for high quality healthcare increases across the globe. This book questions what the evidence tells us about how best to select those most suited to a career in healthcare, ensuring that the approaches used are relevant and fair to all who apply. The editors of this collection take a comprehensive look at the latest research surrounding recruitment and selection into healthcare roles. Each chapter is authored by leading experts and, using international case material, the practical implications for workforce policy are explored. They review the key stages in designing effective selection systems and discuss how best to evaluate the quality of selection processes. Evidence from role analysis studies as well as the effectiveness of different selection methods including aptitude and situational judgment tests, personality assessment and interviews are examined. Chapters also cover approaches to student selection and recruitment for postgraduate trainees through to senior appointments. Finally they highlight contemporary issues in recruitment, including the use of technology, selecting for values, candidate perceptions, coaching issues and how best to promote diversity and widening access.
