This book was released on 2012-05-29 with total page 1239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Expert petroleum geologists David Roberts and Albert Bally bring you Regional Geology and Tectonics: Phanerozoic Passive Margins, Cratonic Basins and Global Tectonic Maps, volume three in a three-volume series covering Phanerozoic regional geology and tectonics. Its key focus is on both volcanic and non-volcanic passive margins, and the importance of salt and shale driven by sedimentary tectonics to their evolution. Recent innovative research on such critical locations as Iberia, Newfoundland, China, and the North Sea are incorporated to provide practical real-world case studies in regional geology and tectonics. The vast amount of volcanic data now available to form accurate hydrocarbon assessments and analysis at passive margin locations is also included into this thorough yet accessible reference. Named a 2013 Outstanding Academic Title by the American Library Association's Choice publication A "how-to" practical reference that discusses the impact of the development of passive margins and cratonic basins on the structural evolution of the Earth in regional geology and tectonic applications. Incorporates the increased availability of industry data to present regional seismic lines and cross-sections, leading to more accurate analysis and assessment of targeted hydrocarbon systems Analyses of passive margins and cratonic basins in East Africa, China, Siberia, the Gulf of Suez, and the Laptev Sea in the Russian Arctic provide immediately implementable petroleum exploration applications Summaries of analogue and theoretical models are provided as an essential backdrop to the structure and stratigraphy of various geological settings.
Book Synopsis Continental Rifted Margins 2 by : Gwenn Peron-Pinvidic
Download or read book Continental Rifted Margins 2 written by Gwenn Peron-Pinvidic and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2022-06-28 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rifted margins mark the transition between continents and oceans, which are the two first-order types of land masses on Earth. Rifted margins contribute to our understanding of lithospheric extensional processes and are studied by various disciplines of Earth Science (geology, geophysics, geochemistry). Thanks to better and wider public access to high-quality data, our understanding in these areas has improved significantly over these last two decades. This book summarizes this knowledge evolution and details where we stand today, with a series of case examples included. It is structured in a practical way, with concise text descriptions and comprehensive diagrams. Continental Rifted Margins 2 is a useful resource for students and newcomers to the rifted margin community – a "cookbook” of sorts to facilitate the reading of scientific publications and provide basic definitions and explanations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main focus of the book is the geological and geophysical interpretation of sedimentary basins along the South, Central and North Atlantic conjugate margins, but concepts derived from physical models, outcrop analogues and present-day margins are also discussed in some chapters. There is an encompassing description of several conjugate margins worldwide, based on recent geophysical and geological datasets. An overview of important aspects related to the geodynamic development and petroleum geology of Atlantic-type sedimentary basins is also included. Several chapters analyse genetic mechanisms and break-up processes associated with rift-phase structures and salt tectonics, providing a full description of conjugate margin basins based on deep seismic profiles and potential field methods.--

Book Synopsis Reconstructing Biblical Dead Sea Scrolls by : Edward Herbert
Download or read book Reconstructing Biblical Dead Sea Scrolls written by Edward Herbert and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2018-11-26 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first part of the book develops a battery of scientifically based tools to aid the reconstruction of biblical Dead Sea Scrolls, which, when applied together, substantially improve the quality of reconstruction attainable. The focus then moves to the important non-masoretic but fragmentary biblical scroll, 4QSama, for which sixty-two new fragment identifications and an analysis of the character of the scroll are presented. Based upon this, a detailed reconstruction of the 4QSama fragments of 2 Samuel is undertaken, revealing 55% more deviations from the Masoretic text than had previously been identified. The effectiveness of the new method is thus demonstrated. Data concerning the support of key Hebrew and Greek witnesses provides a valuable foundation for the study of the history and development of the biblical text.

Book Synopsis Restoration of Facial Defects with Digital Technology by : Leonardo Ciocca
Download or read book Restoration of Facial Defects with Digital Technology written by Leonardo Ciocca and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2022-03-20 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Restoration of Facial Defects with Digital Technology gives global descriptions of each method so that readers can project, design, and manufacture a maxillofacial prosthesis and customize maxillofacial surgery. It also covers using CAD-CAM technology to reduce the cost and time of making a facial prosthesis. The complete workflow for producing the ear, nasal, and oculofacial prosthesis (implant and mechanically supported), and for oncologic maxillofacial surgery is described. The atlas form of the book describes each procedure in a step-by-step manner so that readers may reproduce the process and obtain improved results with respect to the analogic procedures. This book communicates the most updated knowledge and the method of digital technology applied to the maxillofacial rehabilitation workflow, in a way that all may use it as a guide for replicating the methodologies presented in the book. This book will help also informatics technicians and biomedical engineers to project and customize the virtual construction of the prosthesis. It also describes how to use the new technology to reduce time and cost of the operatory room. The information in this book will also let readers: know the new methodologies to use digital technology instead of analogic procedures by anaplastologists; accomplish unusual hygiene procedures of craniofacial implants (hygienists); propose prosthetic alternative solution instead of the plastic surgery to the patient who lost ear, nose, or facial parts for oncologic or traumatic reasons; simplify the plastic reconstructive surgery and module as a function of the final prosthetic rehabilitation supported by craniofacial implants. The book has been written by experts in the field, pulling together information from disparate sources into one reference, making it ideal for anyone working in maxillofacial rehabilitation of the face. Includes coverage of case studies of facial disfiguring due to cancer or trauma using both surgical and prosthetic approaches Describes the step-by-step protocol to digitally design ear, oculofacial, and nasal prostheses, and to mold manufacturing using modern 3D printing technology Provides evidence-based state-of-the-art protocol on maxillofacial and craniofacial implant surgery related to the facial rehabilitation
