This book was released on 2002 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A workshop aimed to clarify under what conditions the validation of knowledge gained through experience can be considered a professionalizing factor for European Union teachers and trainers by creating a better link between experience and training and between vocational training and qualifications. Seven papers were presented in addition to an "Introduction" (Anne DeBlignires-Lgeraud), which reported on the status of teacher qualification in Europe. "Validation of Prior Learning In Training Occupations in Europe (Jens Bj rnvold) advocated that informal learning be more recognized. "Validation of Prior Learning in Training Occupations: (Anne-Marie Charraud) discussed the need for standards. "Validation of Prior Learning in Training Occupations in France" (Franoise Grard) described validation of prior learning. "Designing and Implementing the National Accreditation System of Trainers' Training in Greece (Stamatina Diamanti) identified vocational teacher education standards. "Validation of Competencies and the Professionalization of Trainers in Austria" (Alfred Freundlinger) considered three types of competency regulations. "Accreditation of Vocational Teachers' Competencies in Norway" (Ellen Bjerknes) emphasized that teacher accreditation required a holistic approach. "Vocational Training Markets and Validation of Trainer Qualifications in Portugal" (Horacio Covita) provided a model of cross-disciplinary training skills linked to a credit system. Some papers have reference lists. A glossary is appended. The papers appear in English and French. (AJ).
Book Synopsis French and Other Perspectives in Praxiology by : Wojciech W. Gasparski
Download or read book French and Other Perspectives in Praxiology written by Wojciech W. Gasparski and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-01-18 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 12 in this distinguished series explores current topics in praxiology as studied in France and elsewhere. As is characteristic of contemporary praxiology, contributors both investigate new topics and use new methods to re-examine older approaches.Part 1 is composed of three sections by French scholars. These deal with humans as a subject of action as well as a subject of knowledge. In respecting the particular domains of psychology and praxiology, they demonstrate how they converge to shed light on the human being as an individual or as part of a group. The first section discusses relations between individual action and collective action, while the second section is concerned with relations between the act, objects, and space, and explores work spaces, production spaces, office spaces, and social spaces. The third section examines relations between action and cognition, a domain considered to be little understood in general. Finally, the role of mathematics in decision-making is discussed as a determinate of the praxiological process. The second part is composed of contributions by scholars from Finland, Great Britain, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and the United States. The topics are: how praxiology helps economists understand cooperative actions and related issues of different responsibilities; how and to what an extent university education creates conditions for competitive advantage in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and how problems of corporate governance are approached in the region; how innovation influences competence in the region of established economy in Spain; and how information systems constitute a multi-agent system. Finally, a formal analysis of praxiological dimensions in light of the fuzzy logic approach is discussed.

Book Synopsis Promoting, Assessing, Recognizing and Certifying Lifelong Learning by : Timo Halttunen
Download or read book Promoting, Assessing, Recognizing and Certifying Lifelong Learning written by Timo Halttunen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-03-11 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an international perspective on the growing interest worldwide in lifelong learning, particularly as it relates to learning beyond compulsory education and initial occupational preparation: across working life. Much of this interest is driven by key social and economic imperatives associated with the changing requirements of work and working life, the transformation of many occupations and lengthening working lives. The concerns in lifelong learning are also associated with individuals being able to engage in learning about cultural and social topics and practices that they had not so far. It is important to understand how this learning can be assessed, recognized and certified. Many in workforces across the world learn much of the knowledge that is required to maintain their employability through that work. Yet, that learning and that competency remains without recognition and certification while this could be particularly helpful for individuals seeking to sustain their employability or to extend their work into new occupations or workplaces. The first section of this book sets out the overall project and outlines the key concepts and issues. It illustrates why there is a need for promoting and recognizing lifelong learning and explains some of the terminology, concepts and key considerations. The second section informs about a range of policies and practices that are currently being deployed or have been deployed across a range of countries within Europe, Scandinavia and Asia. The last section comprises of contributions emphasizing the ways in which the assessment of workers learning takes place in different occupational contexts and different cultural contexts. The final chapter outlines how a systemic approach to recognizing lifelong learning might progress for a country which is promoting a continuing education and training system largely outside of tertiary education institutions.

Book Synopsis Global Perspectives on Recognising Non-formal and Informal Learning by : Madhu Singh
Download or read book Global Perspectives on Recognising Non-formal and Informal Learning written by Madhu Singh and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-06-05 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with the relevance of recognition and validation of non-formal and informal learning education and training, the workplace and society. In an increasing number of countries, it is at the top of the policy and research agenda ranking among the possible ways to redress the glaring lack of relevant academic and vocational qualifications and to promote the development of competences and certification procedures which recognise different types of learning, including formal, non-formal and informal learning. The aim of the book is therefore to present and share experience, expertise and lessons in such a way that enables its effective and immediate use across the full spectrum of country contexts, whether in the developing or developed world. It examines the importance of meeting institutional and political requirements that give genuine value to the recognition of non-formal and informal learning; it shows why recognition is important and clarifies its usefulness and the role it serves in education, working life and voluntary work; it emphasises the importance of the coordination, interests, motivations, trust and acceptance by all stakeholders. The volume is also premised on an understanding of a learning society, in which all social and cultural groups, irrespective of gender, race, social class, ethnicity, mental health difficulties are entitled to quality learning throughout their lives. Overall the thrust is to see the importance of recognising non-formal and informal learning as part of the larger movement for re-directing education and training for change. This change is one that builds on an equitable society and economy and on sustainable development principles and values such as respect for others, respect for difference and diversity, exploration and dialogue.
Book Synopsis Simulation Training through the Lens of Experience and Activity Analysis by : Simon Flandin
Download or read book Simulation Training through the Lens of Experience and Activity Analysis written by Simon Flandin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-21 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers various ways in which analyzing professional experience and activity in simulation training makes it possible to describe practice-based learning affordances and processes. Research has been conducted in various simulation programs in the domains of healthcare, victim rescue and population protection, involving healthcare workers, firemen, policemen, servicemen, and civil security leaders. "Work-as-done" (/ "training-as-done") in simulation has been analyzed with ergonomics, occupational psychology, and vocational training approaches. The authors describe and discuss theoretical, methodological, and/or practical issues related to practitioner experience and activity in simulation training. The book also provides evidence on the conditions under which lived experience in simulation can foster or hinder learning, and derives appropriate orientations for simulation design and implementation.

Book Synopsis Cultural, Training and Educational Spaces by : Theodora Balmon
Download or read book Cultural, Training and Educational Spaces written by Theodora Balmon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-01-04 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For two centuries, the school system has been a central point around which other players have gravitated: local authorities, voluntary organizations and the world of work. Over the course of the 20th century, this school centric configuration underwent a transformation, with local authorities tending to become integrated into the vertical culture of the school system. This was only the beginning of a process that brought schools and socio cultural players into constant contact. Cultural, Training and Educational Spaces first examines the relationships with knowledge generated by the links between the school system and other cultural, training and educational spaces, taking a historical, pedagogical and philosophical perspective. Easy access to learning materials creates different relationships with knowledge than those observed in schools. The book then looks at the pedagogical practices in these different cultural educational spaces, such as libraries and media libraries, museums and historical sites, places of heritage, history and entertainment, social networks and other multimedia formats.

Book Synopsis Collective Skill Formation in the Knowledge Economy by : Giuliano Bonoli
Download or read book Collective Skill Formation in the Knowledge Economy written by Giuliano Bonoli and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2022-09-22 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interest in collective skill formation systems has been high for a long time, but recent structural economic and societal developments have led commentators to question their viability. In particular, the shift towards a knowledge economy creates a number of challenges for these highly praised systems of vocational training. These challenges relate to the growing importance of knowledge intensive production in advanced economies and with the accelerated pace of change due to innovation and globalization. What is more, these issues are compounded by coinciding developments in growing inequality and the emergence of multicultural societies. Can collective skill formation systems adapt fast enough to the needs of the knowledge economy? Can they continue to be as successful as they have been in the past in integrating youth in the labour market? Will employers be willing to participate in the delivery of vocational training in this new context? In this book, a world class team of leading experts on collective skill formation systems provide a thorough discussion of these and other questions raised by the shift to a knowledge economy. The book argues that collective skill formation systems remain attractive for firms and governments. However, continuous and profound adjustments will be needed if they are to fulfil their objectives in terms of equity and efficiency.
