Reasons or Results is thought provocative and experiential. It makes you ponder how each one of us has an unexplored potential and yet chooses to hide behind our reasons. The book focuses on how people use reasons in their lives and stay away from their desired results. The author, Nidhi Bandaru, has a subtle yet powerful way of reminding you that these reasons are neither true nor real. The book is a quick and easy read covering the lives of sportspersons, teachers, businessmen, and people from different facets of life. It also covers examples of people next door on how they went beyond reasons and made their lives extraordinary. By the end of this book, you will have access to live an action-packed life by going beyond your reasons. You will be left with a choice – to let reasons lead your life or lead a life beyond reasons!

Book excerpt: The #1 New York Times bestseller. Over 20 million copies sold! Translated into 60+ languages! Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results No matter your goals, Atomic Habits offers a proven framework for improving--every day. James Clear, one of the world's leading experts on habit formation, reveals practical strategies that will teach you exactly how to form good habits, break bad ones, and master the tiny behaviors that lead to remarkable results. If you're having trouble changing your habits, the problem isn't you. The problem is your system. Bad habits repeat themselves again and again not because you don't want to change, but because you have the wrong system for change. You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. Here, you'll get a proven system that can take you to new heights. Clear is known for his ability to distill complex topics into simple behaviors that can be easily applied to daily life and work. Here, he draws on the most proven ideas from biology, psychology, and neuroscience to create an easy-to-understand guide for making good habits inevitable and bad habits impossible. Along the way, readers will be inspired and entertained with true stories from Olympic gold medalists, award-winning artists, business leaders, life-saving physicians, and star comedians who have used the science of small habits to master their craft and vault to the top of their field. Learn how to: make time for new habits (even when life gets crazy); overcome a lack of motivation and willpower; design your environment to make success easier; get back on track when you fall off course; ...and much more. Atomic Habits will reshape the way you think about progress and success, and give you the tools and strategies you need to transform your habits--whether you are a team looking to win a championship, an organization hoping to redefine an industry, or simply an individual who wishes to quit smoking, lose weight, reduce stress, or achieve any other goal.

Book excerpt: Semantics for Reasons is a book about what we mean when we talk about reasons. It not only brings together the theory of reasons and natural language semantics in original ways but also sketches out a litany of implications for metaethics and the philosophy of normativity. In their account of how the language of reasons works, Bryan R. Weaver and Kevin Scharp propose and defend a view called Question Under Discussion (QUD) Reasons Contextualism. They use this view to argue for a series of novel positions on the ontology of reasons, indexical facts, the reasons-to-be-rational debate, moral reasons, and the reasons-first approach.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You may serve great food. You may have a beautiful building and grounds. You may have the hippest decor. You may have all of the newest technology wants and needs. In today's world, though, that's not enough. Because it's not just about all of those things or whether your marketing efforts bring customers to your place of business. It's about whether your hospitality will bring your guests back. Hospitality from the Heart-Part I is an inspiring fable featuring the likable but burned-out and misguided Jim Watts. Jim has the experience and the work ethic that industry professionals admire and believe lead to success, but Jim still feels as if he is missing some¬thing. After finding himself and his wife at the quaint Gottschalk Inn for an unplanned weekend, that missing piece begins to appear and he learns the invaluable lessons of customer service, hospitality, and HEART. Hospitality from the Heart--Part II is where the lessons of the story meet the real world. It is a step-by-step guide for you to apply the principles of HEART into your organization and life. The result? Improved employee engagement, better morale, extraordinary service, greater customer loyalty, and increased profits. And best of all? A better place to work — for your team and for you.

Book excerpt: The New York Times bestseller that gives readers a paradigm-shattering new way to think about motivation from the author of When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing Most people believe that the best way to motivate is with rewards like money—the carrot-and-stick approach. That's a mistake, says Daniel H. Pink (author of To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Motivating Others). In this provocative and persuasive new book, he asserts that the secret to high performance and satisfaction-at work, at school, and at home—is the deeply human need to direct our own lives, to learn and create new things, and to do better by ourselves and our world. Drawing on four decades of scientific research on human motivation, Pink exposes the mismatch between what science knows and what business does—and how that affects every aspect of life. He examines the three elements of true motivation—autonomy, mastery, and purpose-and offers smart and surprising techniques for putting these into action in a unique book that will change how we think and transform how we live.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published in 1984, this volume presents methodologies for studying the ongoing psychological processes that occur as a person reads a text, as well as discussing the major findings that these methodologies have produced, to provide a handbook of reading comprehension research techniques. Focusing on the comprehension processes that occur when a person is reading, rather than the representation that remains after the text has been read, the methodologies use measures such as reading times that reflect ongoing processes, rather than relying exclusively on conventional measures of memory performance such as recall. These methods make use of computer technology for rapid and flexible stimulus representation and data acquisition. This book will allow researchers and students to select appropriate methodologies to investigate a range of fascinating questions about reading comprehension.

Book excerpt: This report presents the recommendations of a WHO Expert Committee commissioned to coordinate activities leading to the adoption of international recommendations for the production and control of vaccines and other biologicals, and the establishment of international biological reference materials. Following a brief introduction, the report summarizes a number of general issues brought to the attention of the Committee. The next part of the report, of particular relevance to manufacturers and national regulatory authorities, outlines the discussions held on the development of revised WHO Recommendations and Guidelines for a number of vaccines, blood products and related substances. Specific discussion areas included the development of WHO guidance on the quality, safety and efficacy of poliomyelitis vaccines (oral, live, attenuated); recombinant malaria vaccines; diphtheria vaccines (adsorbed); tetanus vaccines (adsorbed); combined vaccines based on diphtheria and tetanus vaccines; and Japanese encephalitis vaccines (live, attenuated). Subsequent sections of the report then provide information on the current status and proposed development of international reference materials in the areas of vaccines and related substances; blood products and related substances; in vitro diagnostic device reagents; biotherapeutics other than blood products; and antibiotics. A series of annexes are then presented which include an updated list of WHO Recommendations, Guidelines and other documents on biological substances used in medicine (Annex 1), followed by a series of WHO Recommendations and Guidelines adopted on the advice of the Committee (Annexes 2-7). All additions made during the meeting to the list of International Standards and Reference Reagents for biological substances maintained by WHO are then summarized in Annex 8.
