This book was released on 2017-02-27 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1996, a discovery was made of a body of knowledge which is believed to have important implications for the future of man. In that year, it was discovered that many cultural artifacts produced by man since about 30,000 BC possess an unusual symbolism. In The Creation: Its Infinite Features and Finite Realms, artifacts of man that possess this unusual symbolism are referred to as inspired sources. Volume IV of The Creation series addresses inspired sources that pertain to the destiny of man to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ and expand the kingdom of God to other stellar systems in the Milky Way Galaxy and, ultimately, to distant parts of the universe in the future age. This study also briefly addresses the means, that is, spaceship propulsion, wormhole travel, and black hole travel, by which man and other living entities who serve the Creator in the present age will travel to stellar and galactic destinations in the future age.

Book excerpt: One Woman, Two Lives Since her earliest memories, Elizabeth has lived two lives at the same time. She experiences the transition from present day California to rural England in 1555 the instant she falls asleep each night. As a child, orphaned Elizabeth was diagnosed as schizophrenic and institutionalized at a psychiatric hospital in northern California. She convinced the doctors at Marlowe Psychiatric Hospital her delusions stopped and was released on her 18th birthday. Dr. Philip Sawyer took on the responsibility of her state-mandated out-patient psychotherapy that was a contingency for her release. He is convinced she was wrongly diagnosed as schizophrenic, but suspects she is hiding a delusional disorder for fear of re-institutionalization. In the other realm, Elizabeth lives as the daughter of an English nobleman in the mid-sixteenth century. She believes a magic spell split her soul during birth which allows her to inhabit two bodies during two different time periods. She hopes to find a spell to unite her soul into one body.
Book Synopsis Realms of Literacy by : David B. Lurie
Download or read book Realms of Literacy written by David B. Lurie and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2020-03-17 with total page 538 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In the world history of writing, Japan presents an unusually detailed record of transition to literacy. Extant materials attest to the social, cultural, and political contexts and consequences of the advent of writing and reading, from the earliest appearance of imported artifacts with Chinese inscriptions in the first century BCE, through the production of texts within the Japanese archipelago in the fifth century, to the widespread literacies and the simultaneous rise of a full-fledged state in the late seventh and eighth centuries. David B. Lurie explores the complex processes of adaptation and invention that defined the early Japanese transition from orality to textuality. Drawing on archaeological and archival sources varying in content, style, and medium, this book highlights the diverse modes and uses of writing that coexisted in a variety of configurations among different social groups. It offers new perspectives on the pragmatic contexts and varied natures of multiple simultaneous literacies, the relations between languages and systems of inscription, and the aesthetic dimensions of writing. Lurie’s investigation into the textual practices of early Japan illuminates not only the cultural history of East Asia but also the broader comparative history of writing and literacy in the ancient world."

Book Synopsis Visible and Invisible Realms by : Margaret J. Wiener
Download or read book Visible and Invisible Realms written by Margaret J. Wiener and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1995-04-15 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1908, the ruler of the Balinese realm of Klungkung and more than 100 members of his family and court were massacred when they marched deliberately into the fire of the Dutch colonial army. The question of what their action meant and its continued significance in contemporary Klungkung forms the basis of Margaret Wiener's complex anthropolological history. Wiener challenges colonial and academic claims that Klungkung had no "real" power and argues that such claims enabled colonial domination. By focusing on Balinese discourses she makes clear the choices open to Balinese, both at the time of the Dutch conquest and in its narration. At the same time, she shows how these discourses, which revolve around magical weapons acquired from invisible agents such as gods, spirits, and ancestors, offer an alternative understanding of Klungkung's power. Moving between Balinese and Dutch narratives and between past and present, Wiener critiques colonial accounts by recounting Balinese memories and interpretations. Her attention to history and local situations illuminates the ways in which colonialism and orientalist scholarship have obscured the power of indigenous rulers and shows how Klungkung, once Bali's paramount realm, was relegated to a peripheral corner of the Indonesian nation-state. Both as a fascinating story and as a rich example of interdisciplinary scholarship, this book will interest students of colonialism, anthropology, history, religion, and Southeast Asia.

Book excerpt: Trouble is brewing in the realms beyond the rainbow … Kitsuneko has always done her best to honor her duty. As a young fox-cat changeling, she was conscripted into slavery by King Dario and Queen Arianna of Toulacoeur to serve as the surrogate for Princess Cari, their daughter who was kidnapped seventeen years ago. But when Kiro, Cari's younger brother and the heir to the throne, proclaims his love for her, Kitsuneko is torn between her duty to the kingdom and her desire for the virtuous prince. And when Kiro's kisses leave her breathless, Kitsuneko finds herself -- and the kingdom -- in mortal danger. For the peace that Toulacoeur enjoys, maintained through the blessing of Kleon, the Unicorn Guardian, is at risk, and to maintain their rule, the king and queen have arranged for Kiro to marry Ariella, a Warlord's daughter from a tribe of Gryphon Riders. Can Kitsuneko and Kiro find a way to be together and keep the kingdom's peace? Or is their love destined to only lead to destruction? Kitsuneko is A Companion Novella to The Realms Beyond the Rainbow, a fantasy romance adventure with changelings, rainbow portals, and the US Space Force from award-winning, genre-hopping author C. S. Johnson. FROM THE BOOK: I look in the mirror carefully, scrutinizing the smallest details of the face before me. It is the face of a beautiful young woman, serene and striking all at once. I study the rosy cheeks, still youthfully plump while they start to hint at adulthood, while golden hair falls to either side, sweeping long past the pointed chin. My focus fastens onto the nose in wonderment, mesmerized by the size of the little bump that turns up at its end. I press down on it with my finger, and it shrinks, ever so slightly, in size. Finally, my gaze travels to see the two large, slanted eyes staring back at me; the misty green twinkles, simultaneously bewildered and cautious. The eyes are mine, even if the rest of the face is not. Of all the different kinds of changelings, the kitsunefolk are the only ones whose eyes refuse to change. I doubt this is anything but by design; my kinfolk are known for their inner stubbornness as much as they are known for their outward flexibility. Add in the catblood, and that’s me. I am a changeling from the Honeyspice Lands, a kitsune-neko, and that’s all. That is my only role to play in the grand kingdom of Toulacoeur, and so much so, that’s what they named me. I am Kitsuneko, slave of King Dario and his wife, Queen Arianna, their full-time substitute for their daughter, Princess Cari. I smile into the mirror, and the face of Princess Cari smiles back at me. “Perfect,” I whisper. “You look just like her.” Or at least, I look like what most people think Princess Cari would look like, if she hadn’t been kidnapped seventeen years ago. WHAT READERS ARE SAYING: "I absolutely love this "tail" of love and tragedy and hope!" ~ Malissa, Audiobook Reviewer "This is fantasy old school, one adults and kids will enjoy." ~ William, Goodreads Reviewer
