Download or read book Motivated by Love written by Z. Qokweni and published by Booktango. This book was released on 2016-09-20 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Like scissors in the hands of a skillful surgeon the message that God has given Zweli Qokweni will at times be a bit tough but the aim is not to tear anyone but to build up quality. Put your bible close to you in order to search the scriptures because there is no direct referencing of scriptures done in this book .Get ready to love God .Mr Qokweni's point of departure for writing this book is what God said through the Book of Isaiah 49: 6a " It is to small a thing for you to be my servant", this is a word that indicates a transition for greater transformation which begins by making a decision that seems foolish but yet great move towards what God calls great leaving behind what people call great . Therefore this material is extended to celebrate the legacy of the Life of Jesus . The crux is to bring to light the heartbeat of God across the board that leadership has only one point of departure as well as one landing point that is servant-hood . We have stripped off the essence of true definition of leadership and destroyed the heart of it . In so doing we have popularized the Kingdom message leaving behind the true substance of it which is " Jesus Christ " . This book speaks about Re-establishment of the Kingdom of the Living God that can be found only in Jesus Christ ! .

Download or read book Unfiltered written by Associate Director Eric Feldman and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 2004-08-15 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tobacco, among the most popular consumer products of the twentieth century, is under attack. Once a behavior that knew no social bounds, cigarette smoking has been transformed into an activity that reflects sharp differences in social status. Unfiltered tells the story of how anti-smoking advocates, public health professionals, bureaucrats, and tobacco corporations have clashed over smoking regulation. The nations discussed in this book--Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States--restrict tobacco advertising, tax tobacco products, and limit where smoking is permitted. Each is also struggling to shape a tobacco policy that ensures corporate accountability, protects individual liberty, and asserts the state's public health power. Unfiltered offers a comparative perspective on legal, political, and social conflicts over tobacco control. The book makes a unique contribution to our understanding of how scientific evidence, global health advocacy, individual risk assessments, and governmental interests intersect in the crafting of tobacco policy. It features national case studies and cross-cultural essays by experts in health policy, law, political science, history, and sociology. The lessons in Unfiltered are crucial to all who seek to understand and influence tobacco policy and reduce tobacco-related mortality worldwide.

Book Synopsis Maṇḍalas in the Making by : Michelle C. Wang
Download or read book Maṇḍalas in the Making written by Michelle C. Wang and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2017-12-18 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first scholarly monograph on Buddhist maṇḍalas in China, this book examines the Maṇḍala of Eight Great Bodhisattvas. This iconographic template, in which a central Buddha is flanked by eight attendants, flourished during the Tibetan (786–848) and post-Tibetan Guiyijun (848–1036) periods at Dunhuang. A rare motif that appears in only four cave shrines at the Mogao and Yulin sites, the maṇḍala bore associations with political authority and received patronage from local rulers. Attending to the historical and cultural contexts surrounding this iconography, this book demonstrates that transcultural communication over the Silk Routes during this period, and the religious dialogue between the Chinese and Tibetan communities, were defining characteristics of the visual language of Buddhist maṇḍalas at Dunhuang.
Book Synopsis The Cigarette Century by : Allan M. Brandt
Download or read book The Cigarette Century written by Allan M. Brandt and published by Basic Books. This book was released on 2009-01-06 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The invention of mass marketing led to cigarettes being emblazoned in advertising and film, deeply tied to modern notions of glamour and sex appeal. It is hard to find a photo of Humphrey Bogart or Lauren Bacall without a cigarette. No product has been so heavily promoted or has become so deeply entrenched in American consciousness. And no product has received such sustained scientific scrutiny. The development of new medical knowledge demonstrating the dire harms of smoking ultimately shaped the evolution of evidence-based medicine. In response, the tobacco industry engineered a campaign of scientific disinformation seeking to delay, disrupt, and suppress these studies. Using a massive archive of previously secret documents, historian Allan Brandt shows how the industry pioneered these campaigns, particularly using special interest lobbying and largesse to elude regulation. But even as the cultural dominance of the cigarette has waned and consumption has fallen dramatically in the U.S., Big Tobacco remains securely positioned to expand into new global markets. The implications for the future are vast: 100 million people died of smoking-related diseases in the 20th century; in the next 100 years, we expect 1 billion deaths worldwide.
