Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Praying with Passion is the perfect antidote to listless prayer. Judge McCaig's admonitions are on target." --Dr. Charles J. Wisdom, senior associate pastor, Second Baptist Church, Houston, Texas "In fifty-nine years as a pastor, I've read many books on prayer. Praying with Passion is the first that looks at all facets of one's prayer life. I wish I had Praying with Passion during my early years as a believer. I recommend this book to anyone serious about his or her prayer life." --Lowell F. Thompson, retired editor and consultant, Baptist Sunday School Board (now LifeWay Christian Resources) If everyone prayed just like you do, what would the world be like? If everyone prayed exactly like you wish you prayed, what would the world be like? The answers to those two questions are very telling. Praying with passion means having an intense, real relationship with God. It means having a conversation with God in which you truly know in your heart that He hears you. Praying with Passion seeks to help you learn to communicate with God and move closer to Him in all parts of your life. Learn to seek God's will, discern that will, and courageously follow it. Praying with Passion enables you to become passionate in your prayer life, as passion on fire has a far greater effect than knowledge on ice.

Book excerpt: "Some churches now advertise courses on how to pray. How ridiculous! That is like giving a course on how to fall in love." —A. W. Tozer Tozer understood prayer as few do: as a way of life. Now readers can share that same grand vision. Prayer combines the best of Tozer on prayer into one volume. Tozer was captured by the great wonder of God, and he regarded prayer as the primary means of coming into His presence. But if our everyday life is filled with the barrenness of busyness and there is no serious urgency to pray, we forfeit the wonder of being conformed to the image of Christ and knowing our God more intimately—the true Christian life. Prayer is doable. God is accessible. And Tozer provides the wisdom and encouragement to help us encounter Him daily. With commentary and reflection questions provided by compiler W.L. Seaver, Prayer takes our understanding of prayer to new depths and helps us have a life that prays.

Book excerpt: There is an appetite for God. And it can be awakened. I invite you to turn from the dulling effects of food and the dangers of idolatry, and to say with some simple fast: "This much, O God, I want you." Our appetites dictate the direction of our lives - whether it be the cravings of our stomachs, the passionate desire for possessions or power, or the longings of our spirits for God. But for the Christian, the hunger for anything besides God can be an arch-enemy. While our hunger for God - and Him alone - is the only thing that will bring victory. Do you have that hunger for Him? As John Piper puts it: "If we don't feel strong desires for the manifestation of the glory of God, it is not because you have drunk deeply and are satisfied. It is because we have nibbled so long at the table of the world. Our soul is stuffed with small things, and there is no room for the great." If we are full of what the world offers, then perhaps a fast might express, or even increase, our soul's appetite for God. Between the dangers of self-denial and self-indulgence is this path of pleasant pain called fasting. It is the path John Piper invites you to travel in this book. For when God is the supreme hunger of your heart, He will be supreme in everything. And when you are most satisfied in Him, He will be most glorified in you.

Book excerpt: Is our Christianity that of the New Testament? "God and men and their relation to each other—this I believe to be all that really matters in the world, and that is what I have written about here." —A. W. Tozer Like a physician running a biopsy on lifeless faith, here A. W. Tozer offers one of the most compelling critiques of feigned spirituality you may ever read. In Of God and Men, Tozer exposes false religious notions and lifts up true New-Testament Christianity. A loving and gentle critique of culture and even the church, it reveals lies we unknowingly believe, godless practices we unknowingly do, and treasures of Christ we unknowingly ignore. A manifesto of true religion, Of God and Men will set your foot on the narrow path and lift your heart in soaring worship.

Book excerpt: Do you long for something more in your relationship with God? The good news is that “something more” does not mean “doing more.” God is not waiting for you to get your spiritual life “right.” He wants to be with you right where you are. The real question is not “What does God want from you?” but “What does God want for you?” Sharon Jaynes understands what it’s like to have a “glory ache”—a longing to experience God’s presence on a daily basis. She also knows how easily working for God can get in the way of intimacy with God. And she’s discovered that we tend to make our faith journey much too hard. In A Sudden Glory, Sharon uses Scripture and story to help you erase the line between your “spiritual life” and your “daily life” as you enter the sanctuary of God’s presence even in the middle of your busy, messy day. Here you will find your eyes opened to moments of sudden glory in which the Creator assures you of His love as you live and move and have your being in Him. Here you will discover true freedom—the freedom of experiencing God in a deeper and more intimate way than ever before. Includes Bible study and discussion guide.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1988, I wrote a book called Why Pray?, which went through six printings by Creation House and one by the author. That book was written because I knew I had something to say to the prayers of America. I have, over the past fifty years of ministry, read scores of books on the subject of prayer. Most of them dealt with some rather fundamental issues, but none seemed to answer the questions I had regarding this matter. I wanted to know why God, who has all power, a plan and a will would need us to pray. I had read early in my life with God a statement attributed to John Wesley in which he said, “God does nothing, but in answer to prayer.” He did not explain the statement, but he sure caused me to think. If God does nothing but in answer to prayer, then prayer must be one of the most important things a Christian, can do. I believed the statement, but did not understand it and Wesley did not explain himself. Later I came to believe the following: God, who is sovereign, certainly has the power to do anything He wills to do whether anyone prays of not, however, I can say, from a careful study of the Word and a thorough examination of life’s experiences; as a rule, God does nothing, but in answer to prayer. THE LAW OF PRAYER is a follow-up of Why Pray? I have included in it some of the same material, with several new chapters, a new cover, forward and updated illustrations. David Shibley will write the forward. Other recommendations will come from Bishop Ken Ulmer of Los Angeles, CA, Pastor Steve Dixon, Jack Hayford and Mike Bickel. My Purpose in writing this: • Is to instruct, encourage, and inspire God’s children to pray by convincing them that He will hear their prayer as quickly as He will hear the prayer of anyone. • Is to share the truth that God our Father desires to have a relationship with each of His children and has made a way for this to happen. His door is never closed, and all are invited to come in for a chat. • Is to communicate a few more things I have learned to the thousands who read Why Pray? • Last, but not least, I want to obey my Father.

Book excerpt: God always speaks clearly, simply, and concisely, in His Word. His Words always carry with them great meaning for you and me. His words also are written in such a way so that we can understand and obey them. In the book, I Hear I Obey, you will learn the importance of obedience, on every level, especially to God. You will also discover how the words "to hear" tie directly in with our obedience. You see, we must first hear God's Word, before we can obey Him. Join with me, step by step, as we learn how to obey the Master's voice and graduate from His School of Obedience. Also discover the importance of family to God. By making family a priority in our lives, we are obeying God. Chris Louer is a native born Californian who lives in Mission Viejo, California. Chris, a bible teacher, received the Lord at the age of seven, and has been teaching and ministering to women for over twenty years. God's faithfulness to His Word is a reality to Chris and the gentle, practical way she encourages women, has won her the loving respect of women she has ministered to in Bible Studies, retreats and converences, and individually over the past twenty years. Chris and her husband Ron have been married for thirty-six years. They have two grown married daughters, Melissa and Adrianne, four grandchildren, as well as two godly son-in-laws, Shane and Aron. With boldness and practical teaching, Chris delivers the Word to this current generation, alerting the Body of Christ to what God requires for us to remain overcomers in these days.
