Der Schwerpunkt wird dabei auf seinen beiden Grundsätzen der Gerechtigkeit liegen. Geprüft werden diese beiden Grundsätze hauptsächlich vor dem Hintergrund eines Textes von Peter Koller auf die Frage nach ihrer möglichen Anwendbarkeit und ihrer Grenzen in der Realität und auf Grundlage eines Textes von Otfried Höffe auf ihre mögliche Umsetzung in unserer heutigen Zeit, in der Globalisierung ein immer größer werdender Einfluss für das menschliche Zusammenleben ist. Zu Beginn gibt es eine kurze Einführung und Übersicht über das gesamte Werk „a theory of justice“ die als Grundlage für weitere Erläuterungen dient. Im Anschluss wird dann das zweite Kapitel des Buches näher vorgestellt. Dies mit besonderem Augenmerk auf Rawls Hinführung und Formulierung seiner beiden Gerechtigkeitsgrundsätze. Nach der Darstellung des Kapitels wird Rawls Argumentation für seine beiden Grundsätze hinsichtlich ihrer logischen Begründbarkeit auf Grundlage des Textes von Peter Koller kritisch hinterfragt. Neben der Kritik an der logischen Begründung wird im Anschluss der Frage nachgegangen inwieweit die Möglichkeiten existieren die Gerechtigkeitsgrundsätze von Rawls in der Realität umzusetzen und welche Grenzen und Unterschiede zwischen Theorie und Praxis verlaufen. Danach wird vor dem Hintergrund, dass Rawls Buch „a theory of Justice“ vor über 50 Jahren geschrieben wurde außerdem erörtert welche Schwierigkeiten und Grenzen die heutige Zeit für seine Theorie birgt und ob seine Theorie auch die Möglichkeiten und Probleme der Globalisierung mit einbezieht.

John Rawls war ein US- Amerikanischer Philosoph, der 1971 in seinem Werk „A Theory of Justice“ die Thesen seiner Aufsätze wieder aufnahm und sie ausführlicher darstellte. Rawls wurde durch dieses Werk einer der bekanntesten Politologen und Philosophen der Gegenwart und schuf damit eines der wichtigsten Werke über die Grundlagen einer liberalen Gesellschaft. Er versuchte „ die herkömmliche Theorie des Gesellschaftsvertrages von John Locke, Kant und Rousseau zu verallgemeinern und auf eine höhere Abstraktionsstufe zu heben.“ Hierfür nutzt er ein beliebtes Gedankenexperiment, den Urzustand, der auch von seinen Vorgängern bereits angewendet wurde um ihre Theorien zu begründen. Damit die Menschen einer gerechten Umverteilung der natürlichen-, sozialen-und ökonomischen Grundgüter zustimmen muss nach John Rawls eine gerechte und für alle Parteien gleiche Ausgangssituation geschaffen werden, nämlich der schon erwähnte Urzustand mit dem Schleier des Nichtwissens. Rawls hoffte, dass sein Experiment einmal wegweisend für die Bildung einer gerechten Gesellschaft sein könnte. Er wollte eine realistische Utopie schaffen und hoffte, dass diese in unserer realen Welt tatsächlich funktioniert. Doch ist dieser Urzustand eine fiktive Situation, die in der Realität umgesetzt werden könnte? Um diese Frage zu klären, betrachtet die vorliegende Arbeit die Bedingungen, die Rawls für sein Gedankenexperiment aufstellt. Das Thema ist auch heute von aktueller Brisanz, wie mir durch einen Artikel in „Spiegel Online“ bewusst wurde, der sich mit der Kluft zwischen Arm und Reich beschäftigt. Die Einkommensungleichheit nimmt auch 2013 wieder rapide zu und macht deutlich, dass man sich auch heute noch mit Gerechtigkeitstheorien beschäftigen muss.

There are quite divergent philosophical, economical, sociological, psychological and politological contributions. Sometimes the disciplinary boundaries impede theoretical progress. On the other hand it is an indication for the high complexity of the subject that so many divergent paradigms compete with one another, or - what is worse - live separately in a kind of splendid isolation. Decision theory in the broader sense, embracing the theory of games and collective choice theory, can help to understand practical reason in philosophical analysis. But there are interesting aspects which cannot be dealt with adequately within a decision-theoretic conceptual framework. To have both of these convictions justifies to neglect dis ciplinary boundaries and poses a problem for the orthodoxies of either sides. All the essays of this volume focus on the relation between economic rationality and practical reason and discuss different aspects of the same problem, i. e. a basic deficiency in the standard economic theory of practical rationality. But philosophical analysis would not be of much help if it just rejected the economic paradigm. It must rather help to integrate economic aspects into a broader view on practical reason.
