Book Synopsis Rapid Prototyping Software for Avionics Systems by : Nicolas Larrieu
Download or read book Rapid Prototyping Software for Avionics Systems written by Nicolas Larrieu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-10-13 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The design, implementation and validation of avionics and aeronautical systems have become extremely complex tasks due to the increase of functionalities that are deployed in current avionics systems and the need to be able certify them before putting them into production. This book proposes a methodology to enable the rapid prototyping of such a system by considering from the start the certification aspects of the solution produced. This method takes advantage of the model-based design approaches as well as the use of formal methods for the validation of these systems. Furthermore, the use of automatic software code generation tools using models makes it possible to reduce the development phase as well as the final solution testing. This book presents, firstly, an overview of the model-based design approaches such as those used in the field of aeronautical software engineering. Secondly, an original methodology that is perfectly adapted to the field of aeronautical embedded systems is introduced. Finally, the authors illustrate the use of this method using a case study for the design, implementation and testing of a new generation aeronautical router.

Book Synopsis Software Frameworks and Embedded Control Systems by : Alessandro Pasetti
Download or read book Software Frameworks and Embedded Control Systems written by Alessandro Pasetti and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-08-06 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although framework technology has proven its worth as a software reuse technique in many domains, there have been reservations regarding its application in embedded systems, mostly due to limited CPU and memory resources. Recent hardware advances, however, have changed this picture. This book shows how object-oriented software frameworks can be applied to embedded control systems. A case study of a framework using a set of application dependent design patterns for the orbit control system of satellites is presented.

Book Synopsis Concurrent Engineering by : C.S. Syan
Download or read book Concurrent Engineering written by C.S. Syan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: BACKGROUND There is an increasing awareness that 'time to market' is the key competitive issue in the manufacturing industry today. The global markets are demanding products that are well designed, are of high quality and are at low prices with ever decreasing lead times. Hence manufacturers are forced to utilize the best methods of technology with efficient control and management accompanied by suitably enabling organizational structures. Concurrent engineering (CE) is widely seen to be the methodology that can help satisfy these strenuous demands and keep the profitability and viability of product developers, manufacturers and suppliers high. There have been many reported successes of CE in practice. Rover were able to launch Land Rover Discovery in 18 months as compared with 48-63 months for similar products in Europe. Because of its early introduction to the market it became the best selling product in its class. AT&T report part counts down to one ninth of their previous levels and quality one hundred times (in surface defects) for VLSI (very improvements of large scale integration) circuits as a result of using the CE approach. WHO SHOULD READ THIS TEXT? This book will aim to provide a sound basis for the very diverse subject known as concurrent engineering. Concurrent engineering is recognized by an increasingly large proportion of the manufacturing industry as a necessity in order to compete in today's markets. This recognition has created the demand for information, awareness and training in good concurrent engineering practice.

Book Synopsis Applications of Rapid Prototyping to the Design and Testing of UAV Flight Control Systems by : John Komlosy
Download or read book Applications of Rapid Prototyping to the Design and Testing of UAV Flight Control Systems written by John Komlosy and published by . This book was released on 1998-03-01 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The modern engineer has a myriad of new tools to assist in the design and implementation of ever increasingly complex control systems. A promising emerging technology is rapid prototyping. By totally integrating the development process, a Rapid Prototyping System (RPS) takes the designer from initial concept to testing on actual hardware in a systematic, logical sequence. At the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), we have applied the concept of rapid prototyping to the discipline of flight control. The NPS RPS consists of a commercially available rapid prototyping software suite and open architecture hardware to permit the greatest possible range of control and navigation projects. The RPS is crucial in that it allows students to participate in projects from the initial concept to the flight testing phase of the design process. This thesis will describe in detail two of these projects; the development of an Airspeed Controller using the RPS tools; and the integration of a Voice Control System developed by ViA, Inc. of Northfield, Minnesota. Both projects demonstrate the inherent flexibility and risk reduction of the rapid prototyping a roach to system design.
Book Synopsis Model-driven Development for Embedded Software by : Jean-Aime Maxa
Download or read book Model-driven Development for Embedded Software written by Jean-Aime Maxa and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2018-03-27 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Model-driven Development for Embedded Software: Application to Communications for Drone Swarm describes the principles of model-oriented design used in the aeronautical field, specifically for the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). The book focuses on designing an embedded system for drones to carry out ad hoc communication within a drone fleet. In this context, an original methodology for rapid prototyping of embedded systems is presented. This approach saves time for the verification and formal validation phases, contributing to certification of the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). The book also addresses the more traditional verification phases that must be performed to verify accuracy of the system. This evaluation is carried out in simulation and by real experimentation. The various tools necessary for the implementation of this methodology are described to allow the reader to be able to implement independently. Finally, to illustrate the contribution of this original methodology, an example of embedded system development is presented in which the different phases of the methodology are explained to conceive, validate and test a new secure routing protocol developed for communications within a fleet of drones. Describes the principles of model-oriented design used in the aeronautical field Presents an original methodology of rapid prototyping of embedded systems Presents a mode of development for embedded systems in the different phases

Book Synopsis Optimization and Cooperative Control Strategies by : Michael Hirsch
Download or read book Optimization and Cooperative Control Strategies written by Michael Hirsch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-01-17 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cooperative, collaborating autonomous systems are at the forefront of research efforts in numerous disciplines across the applied sciences. There is constant progress in solution techniques for these systems. However, despite this progress, cooperating systems have continued to be extremely difficult to model, analyze, and solve. Theoretical results are very difficult to come by. Each year, the International Conference on Cooperative Control and Optimization (CCO) brings together top researchers from around the world to present new, cutting-edge, ideas, theories, applications, and advances in the fields of autonomous agents, cooperative systems, control theory, information flow, and optimization. The works in this volume are a result of invited papers and selected presentations at the Eighth Annual International Conference on Cooperative Control and Optimization, held in Gainesville, Florida, January 30 – February 1, 2008.
