This book was released on 2001-07-11 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last five years, after the first meeting on “Quaternionic Structures in Mathematics and Physics”, interest in quaternionic geometry and its applications has continued to increase. Progress has been made in constructing new classes of manifolds with quaternionic structures (quaternionic Kähler, hyper-Kähler, hyper-complex, etc.), studying the differential geometry of special classes of such manifolds and their submanifolds, understanding relations between the quaternionic structure and other differential-geometric structures, and also in physical applications of quaternionic geometry. Some generalizations of classical quaternion-like structures (like HKT structures and hyper-Kähler manifolds with singularities) appeared naturally and were studied. Some of those results are published in this book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ' This book provides the first-ever systematic introduction to the theory of Riemannian submersions, which was initiated by Barrett O'Neill and Alfred Gray less than four decades ago. The authors focus their attention on classification theorems when the total space and the fibres have nice geometric properties. Particular emphasis is placed on the interrelation with almost Hermitian, almost contact and quaternionic geometry. Examples clarifying and motivating the theory are included in every chapter. Recent results on semi-Riemannian submersions are also explained. Finally, the authors point out the close connection of the subject with some areas of physics. Young geometers looking for problems and more importantly directions for future work will find reading this book provides a fine source of material and papers.”Mathematical Reviews “This is a very well-written and interesting book on Riemannian submersions and it is the first monograph in the literature about this topic.”Zentralblatt MATH “Well written, gathering information spread in a lot of papers, unifying the style of many authors, with most of the proofs carried in all details, with a wealth of examples, it certainly fills a gap in the literature and will be a prior reference for both researchers and students.”Romanian Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics '

This book was released on 2013-06-24 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quaternion and Clifford Fourier and wavelet transformations generalize the classical theory to higher dimensions and are becoming increasingly important in diverse areas of mathematics, physics, computer science and engineering. This edited volume presents the state of the art in these hypercomplex transformations. The Clifford algebras unify Hamilton’s quaternions with Grassmann algebra. A Clifford algebra is a complete algebra of a vector space and all its subspaces including the measurement of volumes and dihedral angles between any pair of subspaces. Quaternion and Clifford algebras permit the systematic generalization of many known concepts. This book provides comprehensive insights into current developments and applications including their performance and evaluation. Mathematically, it indicates where further investigation is required. For instance, attention is drawn to the matrix isomorphisms for hypercomplex algebras, which will help readers to see that software implementations are within our grasp. It also contributes to a growing unification of ideas and notation across the expanding field of hypercomplex transforms and wavelets. The first chapter provides a historical background and an overview of the relevant literature, and shows how the contributions that follow relate to each other and to prior work. The book will be a valuable resource for graduate students as well as for scientists and engineers.

This book was released on 1999 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 36 lectures presented at the July 1996 conference all contain new developments in their respective subjects. Beyond the traditional differential geometry subjects, several popular ones such as Einstein manifolds and symplectic geometry are well represented. Subjects include almost Grassmann structures; harmonic maps between almost para-Hermitian manifolds; coeffective cohomology of quaternionic Kahler manifolds; time-dependent mechanical systems with non-linear constraints; the equation defining isothermic surfaces in Laguere geometry; optimal control problems on matrix Lie groups; and leaves of transversely affine foliations. This book was released on 2011-07-20 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present workshop is aiming at the higher achievement of the studies of current topics ranging over differential geometry, Complex analysis and mathematical physics their future developments and their numerous applications. The present volume provides useful and significant information to the specialists in differential geometry, complex analysis and mathematical physics. It will be interesting also to a much broader audience of scholars and scientists working or interested in classical and quantum mechanics, in cell membranes, integrability and soliton interactions etc. Its geometric part includes homogeneous structures on almost contact metric spaces, geometric structures in four-manifolds and almost hermitian structures, complex connections on conformal Kähler manifolds, existence of compact hypersurfaces with the second fundamental form of constant length, linear Weingarten surfaces in a hyperbolic three-space, pre-contrast functions and their geometric properties, and further, fibre bundle formulation of Lagrangian quantum field theory, curvature forms and interaction of fields concerning geometrical setting in mathematical physics. The part on integrability and vector fields is devoted to the study of multicomponent nonlinear Schrodinger (MNLS) equations which play important role for understanding hydro-dynamical processes, the phenomena of Bose-Einstein condensates, etc. The symmetries of these MNLS equations are also studied, as well as their reductions and Lie algebraic properties. The third part of these proceedings treats problems of contemporary mechanics and mathematical physics. The methods of differential geometry quite unexpectedly provide important tool for modeling and studying microinjections in cell membranes, the equilibrium.
