This book was released on 2021-04-07 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are an integrated part of cosmos. The substance related to the astronomical concepts forms the subject matter of Astronomy. It broadly studies universe, solar system, planets, galaxies, meteoroids, asteroids and several other astronomical bodies, often thought to be of the status of celestial origin. Out of the occurrence of a fluke manifestation, one after the other resulting in the creation of life, species and humans. In modern times, Hubble Telescope revolutionised planetary studies and outlived its lifespan. What likely edge will James Webb have over Hubble Space Telescope which immensely enriched the human knowledge on Cosmos for about three decades? Acclaimed scientists have contributed towards evolving a convincing narrative. Often indisputable pieces of evidence and sometimes some intelligent hypothesis support it. A tiny dot became universe followed by the birth of the sun, moon, the earth, other planets, nebula, galaxy and milky ways, and living kingdom. Life evolved, flora and fauna developed. Five catastrophic extinctions occurred eliminating several species. This journey is laid on twelve hours on a clock. In due course, Homo sapiens developed who brought along intricacies like Environmental Degradation, Global Warming and Climate Change. What length of the queue will be created if we trace the lineage of our generation back to the first human that appeared to roam about on the earth? Narrative wavers from line, tracks the life and achievements of ancient civilisations, which laid the foundation stone for human societies, and got eliminated due to damage to the fine balance of environmental sustainability. This book refers to the ones like Indus valley civilisation, the master traders; the Sumerians, the pioneers in many fields; the mysterious Maya; and incredibly industrious Rapa Nui. All got exterminated. As scientists continue to turn up even more signs of collapsed civilisations, they are finding plenty of evidence that climate shifts are to blame to a considerable extent. Why and how? The narrative attempts to answer. The chronicle is before you which might engender a child-like fascination as you delve deeper and farther in it.
Book Synopsis Legend-Tripping Online by : Michael Kinsella
Download or read book Legend-Tripping Online written by Michael Kinsella and published by Univ. Press of Mississippi. This book was released on 2011-05-17 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the Internet, seekers investigate anonymous manifestos that focus on the findings of brilliant scientists said to have discovered pathways into alternate realities. Gathering on web forums, researchers not only share their observations, but also report having anomalous experiences, which they believe come from their online involvement with these veiled documents. Seeming logic combines with wild twists of lost Moorish science and pseudo-string theory. Enthusiasts insist any obstacle to revelation is a sure sign of great and wide-reaching efforts by consensus powers wishing to suppress all the liberating truths in the Incunabula Papers (included here in complete form). In Legend-Tripping Online, Michael Kinsella explores these and other extraordinary pursuits. This is the first book dedicated to legend-tripping, ritual quests in which people strive to explore and find manifest the very events described by supernatural legends. Through collective performances, legend-trippers harness the interpretive frameworks these stories provide and often claim incredible, out-of-this-world experiences that in turn perpetuate supernatural legends. Legends and legend-tripping are assuming tremendous prominence in a world confronting new speeds of diversification, connection, and increasing cognitive load. As guardians of tradition as well as agents of change, legends and the ordeals they inspire contextualize ancient and emergent ideas, behaviors, and technologies that challenge familiar realities. This book analyzes supernatural legends and the ways in which the sharing spirit of the internet collectivizes, codifies, and makes folklore of fantastic speculation.

Book excerpt: I remember the things I felt at that bar in the mountains. The music was over... Some songs played on the Jukebox. The tears welled within me. The dusty road outside... I had my whole life ahead of me, a vision of the indescribable future. Tears fell within. Mountain life was different, but it fit me. A ship set sail on a lonely river. What was love anyway? Complicated. There was no one that could hurt me again I imagined. Just scars. Scars and a desire to make something out of my life. My cabin was just a shadow in the night. And I was supposed to believe I didn't know Jesus? I poured shots and beers that night to the locals. Some who had hearts and some whose hearts had escaped them. I'll never forget the songs that played on the Jukebox. The moon cast weary shadows, and eyes met eyes in the smoky bar. Smoke rising. All I could think of was having a fire for myself in my shell of a cabin outside, by the river. A river that always ran...

Download or read book What Is Real? written by Adam Becker and published by Basic Books. This book was released on 2018-03-20 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A thorough, illuminating exploration of the most consequential controversy raging in modern science." --New York Times Book Review An Editor's Choice, New York Times Book Review Longlisted for PEN/E.O. Wilson Prize for Literary Science Writing Longlisted for Goodreads Choice Award Every physicist agrees quantum mechanics is among humanity's finest scientific achievements. But ask what it means, and the result will be a brawl. For a century, most physicists have followed Niels Bohr's solipsistic and poorly reasoned Copenhagen interpretation. Indeed, questioning it has long meant professional ruin, yet some daring physicists, such as John Bell, David Bohm, and Hugh Everett, persisted in seeking the true meaning of quantum mechanics. What Is Real? is the gripping story of this battle of ideas and the courageous scientists who dared to stand up for truth. "An excellent, accessible account." --Wall Street Journal "Splendid. . . . Deeply detailed research, accompanied by charming anecdotes about the scientists." --Washington Post

Book excerpt: The Black Phoenix is a novel written by thirteen-year-old Khalif Aziz . In the book, the male protagonist, who takes upon the likeness of the author himself, is a young sorcerer whose age is as old as the pyramids. The 5,672-year-old goes through a form of reincarnation in which he dies in one body and begins a new life in the body of either a direct descendant or a relative. As a sorcerer, he constantly battles the forces of Apep, an evil god that wishes to control not only this universe but all others and let chaos tip the balance that all of these universes rely on. Since Khalifaziz is a human, he must do this in secret while still trying to keep up his cover as a regular human. Cara Marino, the character's best friend, never learns of her friends' abilities (she has other friends who have abilities she doesn't know of as well) until the day that she is attacked by a black Bennu, or a black phoenix. Thus begins an adventure in which both magic and science are large players. Cara is the sister of Phineas Marino, a scientist who worked for the government, working on all sorts of top-secret projects. His most important one, a teleport that sends one into any computer's cyberspace and even into the Internet's cyberspace. Knowing that the government would soon want this project, he hid it from everyone except his little sister, Cara. Then another scientist created a virus, and they fused together in order to form Vesteria, an evil being bent on world domination. Cara and Phineas agree to make sure this never happens, seeing as how it was his invention that caused this trouble; however, Phineas can't fulfill his promise, seeing as he is now dead. Cara then decides to do it all on her own, but then she meets a boy named Khalifaziz, a student of the school built in place of the abandoned laboratory where Phineas worked on his machine in secret. Khalifaziz and his friend Matt decide to help Cara fight Vesteria, leaving out the fact that they are both sorcerers. It turns out that they fight Vesteria better than Cara was ever able to. Unfortunately for them, Apep and Vesteria are sick of losing. One day, after Cara is attacked by the phoenix, Vesteria tries to hack Cara's computer systems. When Cara, Matt, and Shadoe, princess of an alien people made completely out of chaotic energy, all go inside the computer, it is revealed that everyone's worst fears have been realized. Vesteria is working for Apep. Suddenly, Khalifaziz and his friends are thrown into a war that they never expected to happen. Now everything has changed. Now they can't afford to lose. Because this time, Apep has a powerful new ally. A combination of science fiction, Egyptology, physics, and magic, The Black Phoenix joins the ranks of global young adult' and children's literature.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Arthurian legends are a crucial part of Western culture and literature. With their enduring themes, archetypal characters, and complex plots, it is not surprising that the stories of Camelot should find their way into films and television programs. From the moody (Excalibur) to the looney (Knighty Knight Bugs), over 250 entries describe the various media interpretations of the legendary king and his trusty knights. Entries are arranged alphabetically, with complete credits, synopses, and analyses of the ways in which the pieces interpret the legend. Included are works like The Sword in the Stone that are based solely on Arthur and his literary origins, as well as those that feature other Camelot characters like Galahad, Percival, and the operatic favorites Tristan and Isolde. Also included are fanciful interpretations in animated films, parodies like Monty Python's, films like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade that feature Arthurian themes, and television programs with Arthurian episodes such as Babylon 5 and MacGyver. Operatic and dramatic works, like Camelot, that have been recorded for film and television are also covered. Appendices, a bibliography and an index, are included.
