This book was released on 1999-02-04 with total page 518 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The proceedings of the Lake Louise Winter Institute for 1998 deal with strong interactions. This includes the jet physics and fragmentation functions as needed in high energy collider physics, deep inelastic scattering to study the structure functions of nucleons, and finally physics with the production and hadronization of quark-gluon plasma at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Both the theoretical developments and experimental data were presented with the intent of establishing their relationship and finding new directions of study.

Book Synopsis Quarks And Colliders - Proceedings Of The Tenth Lake Louise Winter Institute by : Alan Astbury
Download or read book Quarks And Colliders - Proceedings Of The Tenth Lake Louise Winter Institute written by Alan Astbury and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996-08-22 with total page 554 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book originated in a series of lectures given at Liverpool in 2013 to a group that included postgraduate and undergraduate students and staff of the Physics Department. They followed from two very successful lectures given to the undergraduate Physical Society. It seemed that there was a very large interest among the students in investigating the foundations of physics in a way that was never done in physics courses, and was not available in books or other outlets. However, the idea was to create a framework in which students (and interested staff) could develop their own thinking relative to the ideas in the lectures. So it was important to create both conceptual and mathematical structures on the issues that are important at this level. The book has the right sort of technical content to allow for this development, but doesn't lose itself in excessive details. The ideal use for this book would be on postgraduate courses where students would be encouraged to think about the foundations in a way that is well beyond the superficial. However, a course on aspects of this material would also be valuable at the undergraduate level, where students could be stimulated into believing that creative thinking could solve the problems that emerge when we confront foundational problems.

This book was released on 1999-06-18 with total page 894 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume encompasses current issues in the physics of baryons, including their spectroscopy and quark-gluon substructure, and investigations with electroweak and strong interacting probes. The topics covered are: Baryon and Meson Spectroscopy, Chiral Physics, Heavy Quarks, Deep Inelastic Scattering, Form Factors and Exclusive Processes, Hadron-Nucleon Interaction, Hadrons in Nuclear Medium, and Special Topics in the First and Second Resonance, as well as a special part on the current status of neutrino physics. Each topic begins with an Introduction and Overview so as to make the more specialized papers readily accessible to non-experts.

Book Synopsis Fundamental Interactions by : Alan Astbury
Download or read book Fundamental Interactions written by Alan Astbury and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2008 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Pacific Symposium on Biocomputing (PSB) 2008 is an international, multidisciplinary conference for the presentation and discussion of current research in the theory and application of computational methods in problems of biological significance. Presentations are rigorously peer reviewed and are published in an archival proceedings volume. PSB 2008 will be held on January 4-8, 2008 at the Fairmont Orchid, Big Island of Hawaii. Tutorials will be offered prior to the start of the conference. PSB 2008 will bring together top researchers from the US, the Asian Pacific nations, and around the world to exchange research results and address open issues in all aspects of computational biology. It is a forum for the presentation of work in databases, algorithms, interfaces, visualization, modeling, and other computational methods, as applied to biological problems, with emphasis on applications in data-rich areas of molecular biology. The PSB has been designed to be responsive to the need for critical mass in sub-disciplines within biocomputing. For that reason, it is the only meeting whose sessions are defined dynamically each year in response to specific proposals. PSB sessions are organized by leaders of research in biocomputing's "hot topics." In this way, the meeting provides an early forum for serious examination of emerging methods and approaches in this rapidly changing field.
