Book Synopsis Quantum Biochemistry by : Chérif F. Matta
Download or read book Quantum Biochemistry written by Chérif F. Matta and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-01-14 with total page 978 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Divided into five major parts, the two volumes of this ready reference cover the tailoring of theoretical methods for biochemical computations, as well as the many kinds of biomolecules, reaction and transition state elucidation, conformational flexibility determination, and drug design. Throughout, the chapters gradually build up from introductory level to comprehensive reviews of the latest research, and include all important compound classes, such as DNA, RNA, enzymes, vitamins, and heterocyclic compounds. The result is in-depth and vital knowledge for both readers already working in the field as well as those entering it. Includes contributions by Prof. Ada Yonath (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2009) and Prof. Jerome Karle (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1985).

Book Synopsis Chemistry and Biochemistry of Flavoenzymes by : Franz Muller
Download or read book Chemistry and Biochemistry of Flavoenzymes written by Franz Muller and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemistry and Biochemistry of Flavoenzymes summarizes the present knowledge of the chemical and physical properties of free flavin, modified flavins occurring in nature, and deazaflavin. This information forms the fundamental basis for understanding the catalytic properties of flavoenzymes. Flavoproteins involved in transport, electron transfer, oxidation, dehydrogenation and hydroxylation reactions are discussed with respect to their biochemical and biophysical properties. The book presents the catalytic mechanisms of the flavoproteins in detail and, where available, three-dimensional structures and molecular biology data are included. The medical aspects of free and protein-bound flavin are also briefly discussed. Chemistry and Biochemistry of Flavoenzymes is an essential reference source for chemists, biochemists, toxicologists, biologists, pharmacologists, and researchers in the pharmaceutical industry.

Book Synopsis Molecular and Quantum Pharmacology by : E. Bergmann
Download or read book Molecular and Quantum Pharmacology written by E. Bergmann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The seventh Jerusalem Symposium has tried to penetrate into a field of research towards which the efforts of a large number of the most variegated modern techniques are conversing: molecular and quantum pharmacology. The hope to elucidate the mode of action of drugs, to establish correlations between the electronic and con formational structures of drugs and their mode of action and level of activity, to derive from these data the nature of the cellular receptors and an understanding of the interaction of the drugs with those receptors - is a strong stimulus to enlarge and deepen the research efforts with the ultimate view to rationalize the design of more efficient and more specific drugs. The Symposium represents an attempt to survey the progress made so far in this respect and the methods and efforts employed in order to arrive at even greater achievements. The presentation of this Symposium differs somewhat from that of the preceding ones. Owing to the political events which disturbed the peace in the Middle East and therefore the normal activities of commerce and industry in Israel at least temporarily, the printing and distribution of this volume were entrusted to the Reidel Publishing Company. We wish to thank them for their very efficient col1aboration and for all their efforts to publish this volume with a minimum delay.
