Book Synopsis Positive Operators and Semigroups on Banach Lattices by : C.B. Huijsmans
Download or read book Positive Operators and Semigroups on Banach Lattices written by C.B. Huijsmans and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last twenty-five years, the development of the theory of Banach lattices has stimulated new directions of research in the theory of positive operators and the theory of semigroups of positive operators. In particular, the recent investigations in the structure of the lattice ordered (Banach) algebra of the order bounded operators of a Banach lattice have led to many important results in the spectral theory of positive operators. The contributions contained in this volume were presented as lectures at a conference organized by the Caribbean Mathematics Foundation, and provide an overview of the present state of development of various areas of the theory of positive operators and their spectral properties. This book will be of interest to analysts whose work involves positive matrices and positive operators.

Book Synopsis Commutative Harmonic Analysis II by : V.P. Havin
Download or read book Commutative Harmonic Analysis II written by V.P. Havin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Classical harmonic analysis is an important part of modern physics and mathematics, comparable in its significance with calculus. Created in the 18th and 19th centuries as a distinct mathematical discipline it continued to develop, conquering new unexpected areas and producing impressive applications to a multitude of problems. It is widely understood that the explanation of this miraculous power stems from group theoretic ideas underlying practically everything in harmonic analysis. This book is an unusual combination of the general and abstract group theoretic approach with a wealth of very concrete topics attractive to everybody interested in mathematics. Mathematical literature on harmonic analysis abounds in books of more or less abstract or concrete kind, but the lucky combination as in this volume can hardly be found.

Book Synopsis Introduction to Prehomogeneous Vector Spaces by : Tatsuo Kimura
Download or read book Introduction to Prehomogeneous Vector Spaces written by Tatsuo Kimura and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2003 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first introductory book on the theory of prehomogeneous vector spaces, introduced in the 1970s by Mikio Sato. The author was an early and important developer of the theory and continues to be active in the field. The subject combines elements of several areas of mathematics, such as algebraic geometry, Lie groups, analysis, number theory, and invariant theory. An important objective is to create applications to number theory. For example, one of the key topics is that of zeta functions attached to prehomogeneous vector spaces; these are generalizations of the Riemann zeta function, a cornerstone of analytic number theory. Prehomogeneous vector spaces are also of use in representation theory, algebraic geometry and invariant theory. This book explains the basic concepts of prehomogeneous vector spaces, the fundamental theorem, the zeta functions associated with prehomogeneous vector spaces and a classification theory of irreducible prehomogeneous vector spaces. It strives, and to a large extent succeeds, in making this content, which is by its nature fairly technical, self-contained and accessible. The first section of the book, "Overview of the theory and contents of this book," Is particularly noteworthy as an excellent introduction to the subject.
Book Synopsis Mathematical Methods in Quantum Mechanics by : Gerald Teschl
Download or read book Mathematical Methods in Quantum Mechanics written by Gerald Teschl and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2014-11-05 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum mechanics and the theory of operators on Hilbert space have been deeply linked since their beginnings in the early twentieth century. States of a quantum system correspond to certain elements of the configuration space and observables correspond to certain operators on the space. This book is a brief, but self-contained, introduction to the mathematical methods of quantum mechanics, with a view towards applications to Schrödinger operators. Part 1 of the book is a concise introduction to the spectral theory of unbounded operators. Only those topics that will be needed for later applications are covered. The spectral theorem is a central topic in this approach and is introduced at an early stage. Part 2 starts with the free Schrödinger equation and computes the free resolvent and time evolution. Position, momentum, and angular momentum are discussed via algebraic methods. Various mathematical methods are developed, which are then used to compute the spectrum of the hydrogen atom. Further topics include the nondegeneracy of the ground state, spectra of atoms, and scattering theory. This book serves as a self-contained introduction to spectral theory of unbounded operators in Hilbert space with full proofs and minimal prerequisites: Only a solid knowledge of advanced calculus and a one-semester introduction to complex analysis are required. In particular, no functional analysis and no Lebesgue integration theory are assumed. It develops the mathematical tools necessary to prove some key results in nonrelativistic quantum mechanics. Mathematical Methods in Quantum Mechanics is intended for beginning graduate students in both mathematics and physics and provides a solid foundation for reading more advanced books and current research literature. This new edition has additions and improvements throughout the book to make the presentation more student friendly.
Book Synopsis Fixed points of fuzzy neutrosophic soft mapping with decision-making by : Muhammad Riaz
Download or read book Fixed points of fuzzy neutrosophic soft mapping with decision-making written by Muhammad Riaz and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, we introduce some operations on a fuzzy neutrosophic soft set (fns-set) by utilizing the theories of fuzzy sets, soft sets and neutrosophic sets. We introduce fns-mappings by using a cartesian product with relations on fns-sets and establish some results on fixed points of an fns-mapping. We present an algorithm to deal with uncertainties in the multi-criteria decision making to slenderize energy crises by using an fns-average operator and a comparison table for fns-sets.

It begins by describing the extreme conditions and then delves into a description of suitable semiconductor technologies and the modeling of devices within those technologies. It also discusses reliability issues and failure mechanisms that readers need to be aware of, as well as best practices for the design of these electronics. Continuing beyond just the "paper design" of building blocks, the book rounds out coverage of the design realization process with verification techniques and chapters on electronic packaging for extreme environments. The final set of chapters describes actual chip-level designs for applications in energy and space exploration. Requiring only a basic background in electronics, the book combines theoretical and practical aspects in each self-contained chapter. Appendices supply additional background material. With its broad coverage and depth, and the expertise of the contributing authors, this is an invaluable reference for engineers, scientists, and technical managers, as well as researchers and graduate students. A hands-on resource, it explores what is required to successfully operate electronics in the most demanding conditions.

Book Synopsis Ergodic Theory and Semisimple Groups by : R.J. Zimmer
Download or read book Ergodic Theory and Semisimple Groups written by R.J. Zimmer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based on a course given at the University of Chicago in 1980-81. As with the course, the main motivation of this work is to present an accessible treatment, assuming minimal background, of the profound work of G. A. Margulis concerning rigidity, arithmeticity, and structure of lattices in semi simple groups, and related work of the author on the actions of semisimple groups and their lattice subgroups. In doing so, we develop the necessary prerequisites from earlier work of Borel, Furstenberg, Kazhdan, Moore, and others. One of the difficulties involved in an exposition of this material is the continuous interplay between ideas from the theory of algebraic groups on the one hand and ergodic theory on the other. This, of course, is not so much a mathematical difficulty as a cultural one, as the number of persons comfortable in both areas has not traditionally been large. We hope this work will also serve as a contribution towards improving that situation. While there are a number of satisfactory introductory expositions of the ergodic theory of integer or real line actions, there is no such exposition of the type of ergodic theoretic results with which we shall be dealing (concerning actions of more general groups), and hence we have assumed absolutely no knowledge of ergodic theory (not even the definition of "ergodic") on the part of the reader. All results are developed in full detail.
