Capitolul de mai jos prezintă 10 concepte statistice fundamentale. 1. Populație și eșantion Populația reprezintă toate elementele dintr-un grup. De exemplu, i) studenții din India sunt o populație care include toți studenții din India. ii) Oamenii de 30 de ani din India sunt o populație care include toate persoanele care se potrivesc descrierii. Nu este întotdeauna fezabil sau posibil să se facă analize asupra populației deoarece nu se pot colecta toate datele unei populații. Prin urmare, se folosesc mostre. Eșantionul este un subset al unei populații. De exemplu, 1000 de studenți din India reprezintă un subset al populației „studenti din India”.
