Book Synopsis Thoughts on Economic Development in China by : Ma Ying
Download or read book Thoughts on Economic Development in China written by Ma Ying and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-03-05 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about mutual influences of thinking about economic development in China and in the West, from the 18th century until the present. Its chapters are contributed by development economists and historians of thought from China and other parts of the world. The book describes important stages in the evolution, cross-fertilization and contextual modification of ideas about economic order, development and institutional change. It illustrates how Western concepts and theories have been adopted and adapted to Chinese conditions in different waves of modernization from the late 19th century until the present and that this was and is no one-way traffic. The book examines to what extent pre-classical thinking in the West, in particular French Physiocracy in mid-18th century, was influenced by China as an ideal and a source of ideas, at a time when China was the largest and most advanced economy in the world. It discusses to what extent different approaches of modern Western-style economics, in particular in the fields of development economics and institutional economics, can be used to understand the rapid transitions and developments of the Chinese economy in recent decades, and to what extent they need to be modified in the light of new experiences and insights. Against this background, several contributions to the volume provide assessments of the current state of economic science and teaching in China, in particular with regard to Chinese views on Western economics. The book should be of interest to those who are interested in the economic history of China.
Book Synopsis China's Economy by : Arthur R. Kroeber
Download or read book China's Economy written by Arthur R. Kroeber and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-01 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: China's Economy: What Everyone Needs to Know® is a concise introduction to the most astonishing economic growth story of the last three decades. In the 1980s China was an impoverished backwater, struggling to escape the political turmoil and economic mismanagement of the Mao era. Today it is the world's second biggest economy, the largest manufacturing and trading nation, the consumer of half the world's steel and coal, the biggest source of international tourists, and one of the most influential investors in developing countries from southeast Asia to Africa to Latin America. China's growth has lifted 700 million people out of poverty. It has also created a monumental environmental mess, with smog-blanketed cities and carbon emissions that are a leading cause of climate change. Multinational companies make billions of dollars in profits in China each year, but traders around the world shudder at every gyration of the country's unruly stock markets. Most surprising of all, its capitalist economy is governed by an authoritarian Communist Party that shows no sign of loosening its grip. How did China grow so fast for so long? Can it keep growing and still solve its problems of environmental damage, fast-rising debt and rampant corruption? How long can its vibrant economy co-exist with the repressive one-party state? What do China's changes mean for the rest of the world? China's Economy: What Everyone Needs to Know® answers these questions in straightforward language that you don't need to be an economist to understand, but with a wealth of detail drawn from academic research, interviews with dozens of company executives and policy makers, and a quarter-century of personal experience. Whether you're doing business in China, negotiating with its government officials, or a student trying to navigate the complexities of this fascinating and diverse country, this is the one book that will tell you everything you need to know about how China works, where it came from and where it's going.

Download or read book The General Theory of Eco-Social Science written by Jianfang Jin and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2014-11-25 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The General Theory of Eco-Social Science has made fundamental changes to Social Science; it introduces five new theories to the field of humanities and social science. ECO-ENTITYAn Entirely New Sociology It lays out an all new system of ecological theory integrating the social and natural sciences. At its core is the new concept of the eco-entity, its roles and inner systems, its rules, operation laws and operating mechanism. ECO-RESOURCESNew Philosophy and Management It advances the concept of eco-resources, expanding to the social relations of human beings, and puts forth the new theories of the monist world outlook of eco-resources, the dichotomy between positive and negative eco-resources, and the strategic management of eco-resources, through which it reveals a new dimension to humanities and social sciences. ECOLOGICAL SOCIETYA Brand New Political Science It introduces the doctrine of an ecological society where the rule of law is replaced by the rule of organicism, and explains the operating principles and governance of the future ecological society. ECO-ECONOMICSA New Economics It demonstrates with flow charts the economic growth cycle. It depicts the laws of commodity value and eco-value. It stresses the organic inter-relations between the government and the market. The author systematically expounded the economic growth cycle, the starting point, the methods, the principles, the mechanisms and the formulas, in his eco-economy growth theory. ECO -CURRENCYA Complete New Theory of Currency It creates the new theory of Eco-currency, three basic attributes of currency and three major functions of currency. The author proposes a new eco-monetary policy: management of role currencies, or a visible hand in adjusting the economy. In addition, he also illustrates the elements of eco-currency, a new currency, in detail.
