In this sense, the determination of the National Health Council of Brazil is to recognize as regulated health professionals the following regulated professional categories: Social Workers; Biologists; Biomedical; Dental Surgeons; Physical Education; Nurses; Pharmacists; Physiotherapists; Speech therapists; Doctors; Veterinary Physicians; Nutritionists; Psychologists; and Occupational Therapists. They contributed decisively working together, allowing professionals to act in health actions nationwide, leaving the Unified Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde- SUS) the legitimacy attributed by the Magna Charta Libertatum of Brazil, to proceed with the norms for training the professionals that make up the sector’s of Health “The Unified Health System is responsible, under the terms of the law: to order the training of human resources in the area of health”. Through this legal framework, integrative health policies provided conditions for establishing the various transformations in the socio-political-cultural scenarios, reflecting on the epidemiological contour of society, leading to an increase changes in health models and contributing decisively to the conversions of care práxis, incorporating the multiprofessionality with agents with medium technical training through the Community Health Agent, Nursing Technician and Oral Health Technician. The establishment of knowledge and practices that provide the integration of the common field of activity of the multiprofessional teams, in the various performance scenarios, conducts the various actions which include the Family Health Support Center, Health at School Program, Health Academy, culminating in Psychosocial Care Centers I, II and III. They are specialized compositions in the approach to mental health for the treatment and social reintegration of SUS with mental disorders of different magnitudes users. In this way, it is evident that in Mental Health care by a multiprofessional team, it provides a gain for service users and contributes decisively to professionalization at different levels of training, as a result of continuing education in service.

Book excerpt: Estimativas recentes indicam que existem, no Brasil, 1.720 leitos psiquiatricos em hospitais gerais o que representa apenas 2,4 por cento do total de leitos psiquiatricos em todo o pais. Como esse percentual e minimo, quando comparado a muitos paises onde o tratamento de pacientes psiquiatricos em hospital geral floresce, chegando quase a substituir por inteiro o hospital psiquiatrico tradicional, procura-se detectar, nesta dissertacao, resistencias que possam estar dificultando a instalacao de unidades e enfermarias psiquiatricas em hospital geral no Brasil, mais particularmente na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Parte-se do pressuposto de que essas resistencias sao provenientes de tres fontes: das estrategias das secretarias de saude, da diretoria e do "staff" dos hospitais gerais e do modelo medico-hospitalar. Atraves de questionario semi-estruturado e de entrevistas focalizadas com coordenadores de saude mental a nivel federal, estadual e municipal e, tambem, com diretores, clinicos, cirurgioes, enfermeiras, psiquiatras e psicologos de tres hospitais publicos da cidade do Rio de Janeiro procura-se conhecer e descrever melhor esses focos de resistencia. Avalia as vantagens e desvantagens do tratamento do paciente psiquiatrico em diversos "settings": em unidades e enfermarias psiquiatricas, em leitos aglomerados ("cluster beds"), em leitos dispersos ("scatter beds"), em Nucleos e Centros de Atencao Psicossocial e em Hospitais-dia. Tecem consideracoes a respeito da capacidade do hospital geral, e do modelo medico ali reinante, em acolher, tratar e cuidar do individuo insano e discutem-se os modelos medico e biopsicossocial assim como as alternativas multi e interdisciplinares. Os resultados encontrados indicam que, ao se permanecerem as resistencias atuais, a implantacao de servicos psiquiatricos no hospital geral continuara sendo dificil contribuindo para a permanencia hegemonica do hospital psiquiatrico tradicional em nosso pais.(AU).
