Nos études se concentrent sur les transformations structurales thermiquement induites (relaxation et cristallisation structurales) et leurs effets sur la thermodynamique et la cinétique de la transition vitreuse et la cristallisation aussi bien que la réponse mécanique à la température ambiante. Ainsi que la déformation homogène dans la région du liquide surfondu et les propriétés physiques à basse température. En conséquence, leur enthalpie de relaxation suit les caractéristiques générales admises malgré la nature unique de leurs structures. Le deuxième verre présenté montre une meilleure stabilité thermique bien qu'il présente une plus faible capacité à former la structure vitreuse. Les transformations de phases lors du chauffage ont aussi été étudiées par diffraction de Neutron ainsi que par les modèles JMA et de Starink. Ce dernier a été introduit pour étudier leur cinétique de cristallisation. Les 2 verres montrent de hautes valeurs de résistance à la compression, toutefois avec des contraintes plastiques sensiblement différentes à température ambiante. Leur déformation et comportement uniques à la rupture, dont les changements d'angles de rupture

Firstly to inform participants of actual and developing technolog ical applications of glassy materials in which fundamental science makes a strong contribution, and secondly to bring together scientists from the widely different backgrounds of glass science and technology to promote mutual understanding and collaboration. The amorphous state has for more than a decade now been a renaissance of scientific and technological activity extending beyond traditional glass technology research. Striking developments of amorphous materials have been made in fields such as metallurgy, electronics and telecommunications and even in disciplines until recently less concerned by materials science, such as colloid chemistry, medicine and agriculture. The physical and chemical properties brought into application here result from the interaction between the glass composition and its non-crystalline structure. One role of the basic research is to understand this interaction, which in time through development, helps to extend the range of properties and applications. In this meeting we hoped to sensitize participants to the vast range of applications of amorphous materials which exploit their unique properties, and thus broaden future investigation. The program was organised around seven topics, signposts of scientific and technological activity in the 1980'S: optical materials, amorphous metals, crystallisation phenomena, electronic and electrical devices, sol-gel preparative methods, composite materials and long-term applications.

Pour cela, nous avons tout d'abord étudié une famille d'alliages (Zr-Ti-Cu-Fe-Al) pauvres en fer mais s'appuyant sur des résultats très prometteurs au niveau de la capacité de vitrification. Nous nous sommes ensuite intéressés à la famille d'alliages à base de fer ((Fe,Co,Ni)-(Zr,Nb,)-B) qui présente les meilleurs résultats parus dans la littérature. La dernière partie de ce travail a été consacrée à l'étude de nouvelles compositions chimiques n'ayant fait l'objet d'aucune étude. S'inspirant, au départ, de la base Fe-Zr-B de la précédente famille, ces compositions s'en sont ensuite progressivement éloignées. Nous avons ainsi formé des échantillons non seulement sous forme de massifs mais également sous forme de rubans, que nous avons caractérisé aussi bien du point de vue structural que du point de vue magnétique.
