Book excerpt: P R O P H E T I C FORCE ...is a bold effort at declassification of the subject of eschatology, a branch of Christian theology that deals with the last things; the rapture of the saints, millennial reign of Jesus Christ, destruction of the earth, concept and consequence of judgements and bases of rewards. Its real emphasis is on personal revival and holy living which the study of such subject should provoke in the community of believers. It endorses the finality of the position of the Bible on all issues, upholds the values of eternal life and urges readiness for heaven by which intellectual appreciation of the subject will not be more than a desirable by-product. The book builds a strong link between various doctrines of the Bible and the ultimate purpose they are meant to serve in a simplified and authoritative manner. Its comprehensive coverage of the subject, its broad-based and open-minded approach to the treatment of issues, its analysis of current developments on worlds social, political and religious theatres, its blending of contending theories and unbiased resolution of cloudy portions of the course have combined to strengthen its appeal to those who seek sound understanding of the controversial subject. P R O P H E T I C FORCE Presents the Factual Realms of Prophecies and Passionately Explores Current Events that are Fulfilling End Time Prophecies Conveys the Imperatives for Expectant Christian Living Offers Bold and Objective Resolution of Controversies The book ... is a compilation of sound teachings on eschatology in a way that the Church has yet to have it; an all-inclusive coverage of the subject and potent armour of truth to withstand falsehood that has filtered into the Church from several directions on the account of the cloudy subject - Pastor Michael Adeoye

Book Synopsis Prophets and Profits by : Richard Evans
Download or read book Prophets and Profits written by Richard Evans and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-07 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume examines the ways in which divination, often through oracular utterances and other mechanisms, linked mortals with the gods, and places the practice within the ancient sociopolitical and religious environment. Whether humans sought knowledge by applying to an oracle through which the god was believed to speak or used soothsayers who interpreted specific signs such as the flight of birds, there was a fundamental desire to know the will of the gods. In many cases, pragmatic concerns – personal, economic or political – can be deduced from the context of the application. Divination and communication with the gods in a post-pagan world has also produced fascinating receptions. The presentation of these processes in monotheistic societies such as early Christian Late Antiquity (where the practice continued through the use of curse tablets) or medieval Europe, and beyond, where the role of religion had changed radically, provides a particular challenge and this topic has been little discussed by scholars. This volume aims to rectify this desideratum by providing the opportunity to address questions related to the reception of Greco-Roman divination, oracles and prophecy, in all media, including literature and film. Several contributions in this volume originated in the 2015 Classics Colloquium held at the University of South Africa and the volume has been augmented with additional contributions.

He also describes how Graham's lifelong determination "to do something great for God" led him to organize international conferences that spearheaded the worldwide spread of the liberating message of Jesus, and prompted him to help strengthen religious freedom in the Soviet bloc and China. Download or read book The Jewish Law Annual written by Berachyahu Lifshitz and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2008-04-09 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 17 of The Jewish Law Annual adds to the growing list of articles on Jewish law that have been published in volumes 1-16 of this series, providing English-speaking readers with scholarly articles presenting jurisprudential, historical, textual and comparative analysis of issues in Jewish law. The volume contains seven articles diverse in their scope and focus. Two articles are devoted to the halakhic thought of Rabbi A. I Kook; two treat classic legal questions: breach of a promise to marry, and the legal capacity of minors; two examine aspects of the judicial process, one exploring talmudic analyses of the biblical requirement that courts be established in every town, and the other, post-talmudic views on judicial authority in cases suspected of fraudulent claims. Another article addresses the fascinating question of the epistemic-pedagogic worldviews of the rival Tannaitic legal academics, the House of Hillel and the House of Shammai. The volume concludes with a section on Israeli legislation that adduces or is informed by Jewish law, and two reviews of a much-discussed recent book on a topic of considerable contemporary interest: the agunah problem.

Book Synopsis Living the Eucharist by : Paul Bernier
Download or read book Living the Eucharist written by Paul Bernier and published by Twenty-Third Publications. This book was released on 2005 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If the liturgy is truly to be the source and summit of our lives, says, Fr. Paul Bernier in this simple, clear, and perceptive book, then we need to look more closely at what we are really doing when we celebrate Eucharist, and see more clearly how it connects to our lives outside the church door. Bernier shows how the liturgy is meant to help us learn to dance to God's tune. A movement that was danced to perfection by Jesus, and whose melody is repeated over and over in the eucharistic liturgy. Fr. Bernier explores the five main rhythms of this liturgical, divine melody--"the gathering rhythm, the storytelling rhythm, the prophetic rhythm, the nurturing rhythm, and the missioning rhythm. He shows how these rhythms are meant to lead us deeper into sharing Christ's life, both in the liturgy in every moment of our days.
Book Synopsis Early Quakers and Their Theological Thought by : Stephen W. Angell

This book was released on 2015-07-08 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the most comprehensive theological analysis to date of the work of early Quaker leaders. Spanning the first seventy years of the Quaker movement to the beginning of its formalization, Early Quakers and their Theological Thought examines in depth the lives and writings of sixteen prominent figures. These include not only recognized authors such as George Fox, William Penn, Margaret Fell and Robert Barclay, but also lesser-known ones who nevertheless played equally important roles in the development of Quakerism. Each chapter draws out the key theological emphases of its subject, offering fresh insights into what the early Quakers were really saying and illustrating the variety and constancy of the Quaker message in the seventeenth century. This cutting-edge volume incorporates a wealth of primary sources to fill a significant gap in the existing literature, and it will benefit both students and scholars in Quaker studies.
Book Synopsis Commentary on the Prophets of the Old Testament, Volume 2 by : Georg Heinrich Ewald
Download or read book Commentary on the Prophets of the Old Testament, Volume 2 written by Georg Heinrich Ewald and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2006-03-17 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is infinitely better to commence a study of the prophets with what they themselves have written rather than with the meagre narratives and scattered legends of their deeds and words. In their own writings they have most distinctly and trustworthily laid bare their spirit. Whoever desires to know in their inmost hearts these heroes of divine truth and to admire their genuine greatness, should learn first to understand their words and actions as they themselves have recorded them. It is here that they approach us most closely and confidingly, inviting us most irresistibly to make ourselves acquainted with them. --from the Introduction

This unabridged edition embraces the penetrating analysis and warm devotional spirit which characterizes all of Dr. Morgan's writing. The world has seen but one G. Campbell Morgan, whose messages are as popular, effective, and inspiring today in printed form as they were when preached from the pulpit. What the artist portrays with his brush, G. Campbell Morgan reveals with his pen, a pen that never rested from its labors in the cause of Christ.
