This study explores acceptance factors regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence in companies. The study focuses on employees of generations Y and Z in Austria. The research design is based on the empirically established technology acceptance model by Fred Davis, which considers the factors perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Based on theoretical findings and a preliminary study, this model was extended to include the factor of perceived security. The results of this paper are based on theoretical findings from scientific literature as well as an empirical study, which follows a quantitative, hypothesis-testing approach. Through an online survey and followed by a PLS-SEM, the determinants were examined and evaluated based on 7 research hypotheses in order to answer the formulated research question. Based on the results of the empirical research, 5 of the 7 research hypotheses were accepted, while the remaining 2 hypotheses were rejected. In relation to the research question, perceived usefulness has the most significant influence on the acceptance of generative AI in companies from the employees’ point of view. In contrast, only a small positive effect was found for perceived ease of use. Perceived security only plays a subordinate role among the influencing factors based on the available results and has hardly any significant influence on the acceptance of the technology.
