This book was released on 2023-06-22 with total page 3070 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Working Group II contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) provides a comprehensive assessment of the scientific literature relevant to climate change impacts, adaptation and vulnerability. The report recognizes the interactions of climate, ecosystems and biodiversity, and human societies, and integrates across the natural, ecological, social and economic sciences. It emphasizes how efforts in adaptation and in reducing greenhouse gas emissions can come together in a process called climate resilient development, which enables a liveable future for biodiversity and humankind. The IPCC is the leading body for assessing climate change science. IPCC reports are produced in comprehensive, objective and transparent ways, ensuring they reflect the full range of views in the scientific literature. Novel elements include focused topical assessments, and an atlas presenting observed climate change impacts and future risks from global to regional scales. Available as Open Access on Cambridge Core.

Book excerpt: Part 1 of this book presents a brief overview of macro-economic performance of the Somali economy and more detailed sectoral analyses of rural development and employment, urban informal sectors, women's employment and income-generating activities, and education, manpower and employment with an additional focus on vocational training. As a result of the Somali government's interest in data collection and methodological issues, Technical papers 1-6 are presented in Part 2 of the report and are pertinent in terms of improving the current fragile data base of the country (national accounts, GDP, poverty, population). Part 3 of the report presents ten project proposals which JASPA considers critically important in leading to a better understanding of the Somali economy and generating more employment and incomes for Somalia's vulnerable groups.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do some countries have a vibrant nonprofit sector while others do not? Nonprofits in Crisis explores the theory of risk as a major mechanism through which economic development influences the nonprofit sector. Nuno S. Themudo elaborates this idea by focusing on Mexican nonprofit organizations, which operate and strive to survive in a risky environment. The study of these nonprofits generates broader lessons about philanthropy and the nonprofit sector that complement wider cross-national statistical analysis.

Book Synopsis Learning from farmer organisations by :
Download or read book Learning from farmer organisations written by and published by CTA. This book was released on 2018-09-01 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This booklet shows the results of the first “cluster” put together by the Experience Capitalization project implemented by CTA in different parts of the world – a group made up of representatives of some of the farmer organisations working in East Africa: the Uganda National Farmers Federation, the Kenya National Farmers Federation, the Kenya Livestock Producers Association, MVIWATA in Tanzania, and also of the East Africa Farmers Federation. Not knowing much about “experience capitalization”, they came together for a first workshop in Nairobi at the end of 2016 – and they all started their own capitalization process. CTA’s objective was that participants would not just discuss the concepts and principles behind the capitalization approach, but that they would work together with their colleagues back home and complete the process within a few months. What follows are the first results of these processes.
