All investors have a slightly different approach to the world of finance and investing. Some investors put emphasis on short term gains while others focus on long-term growth. However, I believe that there is a common theme among all successful investors - past, present, and future. Investors who focus on the fundamental analysis of a company and use good risk management tactics are those who experience the greatest success. Remember, your first goal should always be to preserve the capital you initially invested, followed by making consistent returns and building your portfolio size over time.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All too often, when investors go in search of investment advice, they are met with television personalities and so-called investment “gurus” who do little more than push the latest and greatest scheme to retire rich. Your retirement funds—in the form of IRAs, 401(k)s, SEP or Simple IRAs, and other plans you can direct to some degree—are, however, far too precious to bet on the latest scheme, trend, or tip you heard at a party. In Invest Like an Institution: Professional Strategies for Funding a Successful Retirement, Michael Schlachter provides individual investors with the tools they need to build a portfolio that not only protects their wealth but helps it grow for the long term. Result? A comfortable retirement in which you can pursue your dreams and check “bucket list” items off at your leisure. As an advisor to large pension funds and endowments, Michael Schlachter counts among his clients the elite. Institutional investors like the retirement systems of states and major companies, as well as the largest university endowments, are among the few that consistently outperform the market. Sure, average retail investors can't make the same types of private deals in real estate, private equity, or hedge funds that institutional investors use to reap large returns or offset market volatility. But as this book demonstrates, you can replicate in your own portfolio the very same diversification strategies that large funds employ to achieve long-term gains. To that end, Invest Like an Institution shows how to build a portfolio that is every bit as diversified and risk-controlled as a multi-billion-dollar institutional fund—and a portfolio more likely to result in a happy, financially secure retirement. Filled with easy-to-implement guidelines that will put you on the path to financial success without encouraging you to chase trends, take on unneeded risks, or spend unnecessary fees, Invest Like an Institution analyzes: Why asset allocation and consistent retirement contributions are the single largest determinant of your success or failure The merits of a global portfolio versus those of a home country–biased portfolio How newer investment strategies are used by institutional investors to supplement a well-diversified portfolio Why fixed income investments are not as safe as most investors think and how to understand their role in your portfolio The best alternative asset classes that are readily available to individual investors Invest Like an Institution will help ensure that your investments are positioned for long-term growth under any market conditions. Follow its advice, and you can better achieve a prime goal we all share: retiring with a substantial nest egg.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first thing you need to get your head around is that investing and trading is not a get rich quick money scheme. This book is made to help solve the problem of not losing money in the markets from lack of knowledge so the content value is high. For the price you paid for this book, which is about the cost of trading one contract of crude oil or gold including all the fee's, the quality of the information is priceless in that it can save you money in losses in your investing and trading and time in learning if you just pay attention to what it says in here. You have to crawl before you can stand up. Be able to balance before you can walk, and walk before you can run. Same can be said for investing and trading in the live markets. You have to do the time if you want to learn how to drive the money train!! New retail investors and traders coming into the business have a large amount of work to do to be able to be consistently profitable day in day out. That said, most of the time they just want someone to tell them when to push the button so they can make money. It doesn't work like that. Being a self-directed investor and trader, is an honor and can be done by anyone anywhere on the globe. As I said already it is not a get rich quick thing and if you go in the live market with people like me who have the "kill everybody" in there in their attitude YOU WILL LOSE ALL of your money and very quickly. By not doing it the right way from the start you will only diminish your opportunity to do well as a market participant. You would serve yourself well and have a greater positive outcome more often if you just do it right from the start. Again I will say that this eBook is basic and is for new traders who have 0 experience trading and want to learn to trade the right way from the start. What do you need to learn first? How to read price charts, supply and demand in conjunction with price action is the only thing that moves price so that is what you should concentrate on right from the start. What you see on the charts before your very eyes is the only thing you need to see. You can use candles, bars, lines, it doesn't matter. If you are already trading and have studied other ways of trading, this method is going to be very very hard for you. I would encourage you to if you are consistently profitable daily and making real money daily doing what you are already doing then just keep on doing it no need to reinvent the wheel. Just my opinion. If you try it any other way you are going to lose some money. The decision to trade is yours. NO ONE is making you do this so why would you NOT want to be the best you can be at it. An expert. A professional. You need to treat trading as a business YOUR new business. YOU own it, you are responsible for it, and you reap the rewards of it. It doesn't get any better than that! Smart money doesn't use tick charts and range charts and all that TA nonsense. They look at daily and long term charts because they are in the business of making money. They are only interested in PA and where the orders reside at a certain price level they are interested in buying or selling at. It's time and price. Ask any bank trader or ex pit trader and that's what they would say. All the rest is BS. You want to really make money? Real money? Then do what the smart money does when and where they are doing it. See what they see do and do what they do. You are a self-directed investor and trader so YOU decided when you enter the market. No one else.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you are a beginner and thinking about getting into trading and investing this book was written just for you. This book details all the best information that brand new beginner investors and aspiring traders need in the beginning of their educational journey. The information in this book can save you a lot of time in the learning curve for the trading business which can sometimes be long and very expensive if you start off the wrong way from the first day. Making high profits in the financial markets on a daily basis is not that hard if you know what to look for and where to look for it. I talk about a method of trading and investing in this book that can be used on any liquid market on any time frame you desire to look at. Using this method for your investing and trading is wise because it is the only thing that can tell you with a high degree of certainty when the market is going to turn, and can also tell you with a high degree of certainty where the market is likely to go to kind of like having your own crystal ball. There are people in the live markets willing to walk over dead bodies to make money and they are certainly willing to invite you the novice retail trader into the market. They are there to get paid and the brand new retail traders who have made the mistake of not getting the right information and not doing the proper education and training from their first day in the business are the traders who they get paid from. Ask yourself this question before you start out in this business. Do I want to be the one who is paying the smart money or do I want to be the one who gets paid? This book is written to give you a fighting chance in the live markets by telling you just what it takes to become a high profit money making professional who can compete with the best professional money makers in the world. I encourage you to make this the first book you purchase for your pre education in the trading and investing business and then use it as a reference book in your library if needed throughout your entire career. There are zero shortcuts to becoming a consistently profitable investor and trader; you simply must do the time to prepare yourself to be able to work in the live markets against the best participants in the world. You owe it to yourself to do the right education and training from the start. The result of not doing it the right way from the first day is not an option and could cause a brand new trader to have a catastrophic unfavorable financial outcome and no one wants that. Book excerpt: An investing strategy that actually works, tailored to the retail investor Beating the Wolves of Wall Street pulls back the curtain on the myths and half-truths about trading that cause investors to lose money in the markets. This useful guide compiles the wisdom of over fifty professional traders and trading instructors from the Online Trading Academy to give retail investors the information they need to build an investment strategy better than anything they'll get from their financial advisor. Successful traders have key elements in common that help them beat the market, and this book reveals their secrets to help you level the playing field and start seeing better results. You'll learn why Buy and Hold strategies don't trickle down to be advantageous for the retail investor, and why you should immediately stop doing the things you've always been told were crucial. Most individual retail investors are like sheep being led to the slaughter by the wolves of Wall Street. They believe that successful trading and investing is simply learning chart patters or 'old school' fundamental analyses that no longer work effectively in the current market. This book is designed to show individual investors how the markets actually work. Discover the two types of traders, and which one makes money Learn which strategies benefit which investors, and how it works Understand how your financial advisor's advice is losing your money Master what you should be doing, and learn what you should stop doing You don't have to run with the wolves, but you should at least stop them from drawing blood. Successful investing is highly dependent on resources and context, and what works for them is not always the best choice for you. For a better strategy with better returns, Beating the Wolves of Wall Street is a no-nonsense, informative guide.

Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to provide individual investors who have as little as $1,000 to invest with the information necessary to earn a high return from investing in the stock market. Playing “the game” intelligently, as outlined in this book, will allow the small investor to earn a return better than most professional investors. Although the theories behind investment can be very complicated, the individual investor does not need to understand these theories in order to outperform the so-called experts. This book will show the reader the steps necessary to become a savvy investor and beat the pros. The good news is you can be a savvy investor and spend only a few minutes each year on your investment portfolio. It sounds almost too good to be true, but it is. One of the most important things successful investors can do is concentrate on the variables they can control and not worry about the variables they cannot control. When constructing a stock portfolio, the two variables an individual investor can control are the costs associated with any investment and the risk related to an individual’s portfolio. Adjusting these two elements in an intelligent way can have a dramatic impact on the return earned from one’s investments, potentially adding hundreds of thousands of extra dollars to the investor’s investment account.
