Book Synopsis Gas and Particle Phase Measurements of Atmospheric Organic Compounds by : Douglas A. Lane
Download or read book Gas and Particle Phase Measurements of Atmospheric Organic Compounds written by Douglas A. Lane and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-11-17 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is becoming increasingly important to understand how and why semivolatile atmospheric pollutants partition between gas phase and particulate matter in the atmosphere. In this text the world's leading researchers in the field explain the significance of gas/particle ratios; physical and chemical parameters determining how semivolatiles partition in the atmosphere; how gas/particle ratio measurements are made; what artefacts occur during sampling; and novel new techniques and instruments for obtaining artefact-free results. Intended to be a reference book and a guide for those who study the gas/particle ratios of semivolatile atmospheric compounds. This book will be of interest to beginners in the field as well as those who have been involved in the field for many years and would like, in a single reference text, a comprehensive compendium of what is known about the theory and practice of gas/particle phase measurements.
Book Synopsis Risk Assessment and Indoor Air Quality by : Elizabeth L. Anderson
Download or read book Risk Assessment and Indoor Air Quality written by Elizabeth L. Anderson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-04-30 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the recent tightening of air quality standards as mandated by the U.S. EPA, has come great pressure on regulatory bodies at all levels of government, along with the industries and groups affected by these standards, to better assess the hazards and risks that result from air pollutants. Risk Assessment and Indoor Air Quality carefully ties tog
Book Synopsis Design and Protocol for Monitoring Indoor Air Quality by : Niren Laxmichand Nagda
Download or read book Design and Protocol for Monitoring Indoor Air Quality written by Niren Laxmichand Nagda and published by ASTM International. This book was released on 1989 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is derived from a symposium prompted by the growing concern for air quality in homes, offices and schools, and the need for better design of investigations about indoor air quality problems and solutions. Numerous chemical and physical factors influence the indoor concentrations of contaminants. The multiplicity of these factors makes the investigation design process complex. So, well-conceived designs and protocols form a crucial starting point for successful measurement programs. "Design" of a study relates to developing a general strategy or approach ; "protocols" refers to specific procedures to be followed in conducting a study. This document aims to provide information on designs and protocols used in different types of indoor air quality monitoring studies and to supply learning opportunities through shared experience

Book Synopsis Assessment of Crop Loss From Air Pollutants by : W.W. Heck
Download or read book Assessment of Crop Loss From Air Pollutants written by W.W. Heck and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During late 1985, the Research Management Committee (RMC) of the National Crop Loss Assessment Network (NCLAN) decided the most ap propriate way to bring the NCLAN program to a successful conclusion was to hold an international conference. It was envisaged as an opportunity to present an overview of results from the NCLAN program and as a chance to view the results in the context of ongoing research by members of the international community. * Although we wanted the Conference to have an assessment orientation, it was also intended for the Conference to focus on current state-of-knowledge. The Conference was designed to overview the needs of crop loss assessment, current approaches to assessment, progress in the development of predictive models, the use of the information for economic predictions, and the application of the data in policy decisions. Every effort was made to assure a broad representation of ideas. The Conference program was developed to evaluate major issues that address regional/national assessments of impacts of atmospheric pollutants on agricultural production. Sessions were structured to address specific issues by invited speakers, and by contributed papers and posters. First, background needs for doing loss assessment research including specific approaches and a rather detailed review of the NCLAN program were addressed (Session I). Session II addressed the needs for defining the exposure environment (e. g. extrapolating to regional concentrations and exposure characterization). Field approaches for determining crop loss were reviewed in Session III.
Book Synopsis Organic Chemistry of the Atmosphere by : Lee D. Hansen
Download or read book Organic Chemistry of the Atmosphere written by Lee D. Hansen and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1991-06-24 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume reviews the information currently available regarding the chemistry of organic compounds in the atmosphere. Topics discussed include methods for collecting organic compounds from the atmosphere, the influence of organic compounds on indoor and outdoor air quality, the chemistry of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, environmental tobacco smoke, organic compounds in rainwater, organic oxysulfur compounds, and the effect of organic compounds on visibility. Many of these topics presented have never been reviewed or have never appeared together in a single volume. Anyone concerned with atmospheric organic compound monitoring or who conducts research on organic compounds and their effect on the atmospheric environment will find this book to be extremely beneficial.
