Book Synopsis Ministry in Tears by : Rev. Benjamin A Vima
Download or read book Ministry in Tears written by Rev. Benjamin A Vima and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2015-12-02 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the two priest brothers portray the tears they shed in priestly ministry, not merely to ventilate their emotional outbursts or confessions to their friends, kith and kins, and even their so-called enemies, but most of all, to celebrate those tears as part of the blessing that has come to strengthen their union with the Lord, with the church, and certainly with their lifelong neighbors. The kind of tears their eyes showered were those of gratitude, joy, and sorrow. Their discussion also would bring home to every good-willed people how the foreign-born priests who serve the church in different continents not to be considered as mere international priests in a modern business term, rather to be esteemed as the true missionaries sent by the Lord for the impending purpose of new evangelization. Ultimately, their dream in this dialogical venture is to bring their readers, especially their (international) fellow missionary priests, closer to Jesus, the one they love the most, and to the church, his beloved spouse.
Book Synopsis The Christian Ashram Movement in India by : Zdeněk Štipl
Download or read book The Christian Ashram Movement in India written by Zdeněk Štipl and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2020-03-20 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is one of the first to present a definitive history of the Christian Ashram Movement. It offers insights into the development of the Movement, Europe’s Orientalist view of Eastern mysticism and how the concept of the "ashram" spread beyond the borders of India. Drawing extensively from ashram literature and the author’s field research, the book critically analyzes the notions of inculturation in the encounter between Christianity and Hindu spirituality and ritualism. It looks at how the Movement grew out of the colonial encounter and how it evolved through the years, which was contingent on developments within Christian churches outside India. The volume also discusses the reinterpretation of the idea of the "ashram" by Christian theologians, the introduction of elite Brahmanical concepts within the Movement and the unique theological perspectives which were nurtured in these ashrams. The book offers an alternative perspective to the generally perceived history of Christianity in India. It will be of interest to scholars and researchers of religious studies, Christianity, sociology, social anthropology and religious history.
Book Synopsis Asian Pacific Catholicism and Globalization by : José Casanova
Download or read book Asian Pacific Catholicism and Globalization written by José Casanova and published by Georgetown University Press. This book was released on 2023-12-01 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This history of the Catholic Church in Asia and the Pacific illuminates the processes of globalization Since the sixteenth century, Catholicism has contributed significantly to global connectivity. Except for the Philippines and Timor-Leste, Catholicism in Asia is, and is likely to remain, a minority religion. For this reason, it can serve as a unique prism through which to look at the processes of globalization in Asia. Asian Pacific Catholicism and Globalization demonstrates to scholars and students of Catholic history that the development of Catholicism in Asia and later in the Oceania-Pacific region is closely associated with three different phases of globalization. This book approaches the historical processes of globalization not as structural agencies or causal forces, but rather as the historical contexts that condition possibilities for human action and reaction in the world. The editors identify three distinct phases in the development of Catholicism in Asia and Oceania: early modern (sixteenth–eighteenth centuries), modern Western hegemony (1780s–1960s), and the contemporary (1960s–present). The book’s contributors discuss the development of Catholicism in all the major countries of the region, including China, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, India, and Australia.
Book Synopsis Exploring Kenosis Spirituality: The Implications for the CMI's Spiritual Formation by : Pratheesh Michael Pulickal

This book was released on 2022-01-01 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation is a study of kenosis spirituality aimed at determining how the spiritual formation of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) can be effectively infused with a more profound and genuine understanding of kenosis spirituality. Employing a communication-oriented method involving three interconnected and progressive steps, namely, an analysis of syntax, semantics and pragmatics, and concentrating on the role of the text-immanent reader, this study conducts an in-depth textual analysis of five key texts. These have been chosen from the Bible, the Eastern and the Western monastic traditions, the early writings of the CMI, and the Indian Christian Ashram to ascertain a deeper understanding of kenosis spirituality. The study subsequently considers how to introduce insights regarding kenosis into the CMI's spiritual formation. Pratheesh Michael Pulickal, from Kerala, India, a Catholic priest of the Syro-Malabar rite, belongs to the CMI Congregation.
