Download or read book Change Management in Nonprofit Organizations written by Kunle Akingbola and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-03-30 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonprofit organizations are arguably in a perpetual state of change. Nonprofits must constantly scan, analyze, and adapt to the implications of the changing needs of clients, the community, funders, and government policy. Hence, the core competencies and capabilities of nonprofits must include how to effectively manage change. The knowledge, skills, and abilities of employees, volunteers, and managers must include the competencies required to formulate and implement strategies to manage planned and unplanned change. This book brings to the forefront the challenges and opportunities of change by combining insights from practice, research, and theories of change management to examine nonprofits. It incorporates interdisciplinary perspectives to examine the dimensions, determinants, and outcomes of change in nonprofits. It offers managers, researchers, and students case examples on how to develop, implement, and manage change in the context of nonprofits. Readers will better understand the dimensions of change that are unique to nonprofits and how these should be integrated into strategy and day-to-day operations, including reflection for both the change agent and the change recipient.

Book Synopsis Integrated Coastal Zone Management of Coral Reefs by : Kent Gustavson
Download or read book Integrated Coastal Zone Management of Coral Reefs written by Kent Gustavson and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2000 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The applied research indicates that, to improve awareness, park education programs should be targeted specifically to the user groups primarily through outreach programs. Further, the Park's management programs should be highlighted, particularly the beneficial, tangible products and services (benefits) the Park provides to each user group... The closer the tie between reef conditions and business earnings, the greater the users' support for reef conservation." Coral reefs are sometimes referred to as "canaries of the sea" because of their early warning ability to show near-shore oceanic stress. Because of their biological diversity, they are also called "rainforests of the sea." Coral reefs are vital to the well being of millions of people. Coral reef managers and government officials trying to save their valuable national resources have turned to research on coral reefs for help. The research presented in this publication merits a great deal of notice because the output is useful for decision support and training tools in integrated coastal zone management (ICZM). The work on cost-effectiveness analysis has developed integrated economic and ecological models, relying extensively on fuzzy logic procedures to model impacts and effects of interventions within the reef environment. By contrast, the marine system valuation work provides economic valuations of coral reefs, demonstrating the use of different modeling methods and treating key policy issues within this context. This publication will interest coastal zone experts and managers worldwide

Book Synopsis Adaptation and mitigation policies in Cameroon by : Félicien Kengoum
Download or read book Adaptation and mitigation policies in Cameroon written by Félicien Kengoum and published by CIFOR. This book was released on with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study is to identify new synergistic pathways between climate change mitigation and adaptation policies in Cameroon using an approach based on a literature review of the political processes that led to the introduction of the two strategies. The common feature of the two political processes is the absence of strategy in Cameroon. The country is finding it difficult to assimilate and coordinate these processes at the national level. More attention is being given to mitigation than to adaptation. In any case, it is difficult to formulate any political options without complete studies on the responses to the drivers of deforestation and forest degradation and on the vulnerability of the forest populations and their capacity to absorb climate shocks.

Book Synopsis La nouvelle question religieuse by : Pauline Côté
Download or read book La nouvelle question religieuse written by Pauline Côté and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2006 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. In a context of increasing polarization of public opinion about religious questions, how do issues involving religion appear in France, the United States, Belgium, and Canada? Parliamentary commissions, governmental reports, and laws pertaining to Islam and to so-called sects often lead to the promulgation of regulations that reflect the public's anxiety that religious diversity per se is threatening. The purpose of this book is to examine some of the identities, values, images, and myths that are perceived by decision makers and by participants in civil societies when boundaries are drawn between the public and the religious at the place where globalization and universal human rights meet.
