Book excerpt: Many 21st Century Christians have excused themselves from the Biblical mandate to engage in effectual prayer and meditation. God is unlimited, yet He chooses to demonstrate His power through prayer. "Prayer Force" is a call to the believer for greater intimacy and communion with God. Prayer is not a magic wand. Perhaps the chief reason believers do not pray consistently is because they do not see their prayers answered. Without God's prerequisites, prayer remains unanswered. Misconceptions regarding prayer must be dispelled with the foundational Biblical descriptions. Priorities dictate schedules and schedules reveal priorities. If prayer is not a priority in action, it is not a priority at all. A look at God's view from Scripture and men's view from life, combine to make this book a dynamic propeller to fight the good fight on our knees. Pastor Kenneth J. Spink grew up in western New York, the 7th of 12 children. He is a graduate of Baptist Bible College and Baptist Bible Seminary of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Debbie, have four children. He has served as Senior Pastor of the Berea Baptist Church in Berea, OH since 1984, on the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches Council of 12 and the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches Council of 18. He has also served on the Baptist Mid-Mission General Council since 1988, where he presently fills the role of Chairman. In addition to his ministry as pastor, he has had numerous opportunities to develop and teach college level Bible courses. Pastor Spink has preached and encouraged believers in Hong Kong, Japan, Jamaica, Brazil, Chile, as well as Alaska and several other States.

There moves through it a beauty and a serenity which no mortal man can fully explain. It reassures our hearts, strengthens our resolve, and leads us into personal contact with God, our Father.” In this moving book by “an ordinary man and a child of God,” Phillip Keller takes each phrase of the Lord's Prayer one-by-one, unfolding it in wonderful detail and sharing insights he’s gained and experiences he’s enjoyed. Next to Psalm 23, the Lord’s Prayer is perhaps the most universally beloved passage in Scripture. It has been repeated millions of times by countless individuals for nearly 20 centuries. Yet, in spite of so much use and familiarity it has never lost its luster. A Layman’s Look at the Lord’s Prayer presents that luster in a fresh way to help you rediscover its incredible power. Book Synopsis The Elusive Aryans by : Shrinivas Vasudeo Pradhan
Download or read book The Elusive Aryans written by Shrinivas Vasudeo Pradhan and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-11 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The question of the original home of the Aryans and their migrations to India is only part of the problem of their “elusiveness.” Their subsequent assimilation and nativization in India also contributed to this elusive quality. This socio-cultural process can be traced through a study of their gods, rituals, and philosophy. Thus changes in the nature and function of Ṛgvedic gods; the appearance of upstart gods in the late Ṛgvedic period; the elaboration of the soma ritual with elaborate supplementary rituals; the introduction of the new ritual of Agnicayana; the rise of the eschatology of “punarjanma” (rebirth) and “saṁsāra” (eternal return) based on “karma”; and the ideal of “mukti”, or liberation from life, in place of the former ideal of a life of “śaradaḥ śatam” (a hundred autumns) are symptoms of, as well as a witness to, the transformation of the original identity of the Aryans as revealed in the Family Books of the Ṛgveda. This cultural transformation is no less significant than the “Yakṣa praṣṇa” (knotty question) of their original home and their “indubitable” archaeological traces. The book addresses itself to both these questions, and, for that purpose, takes another look at some of the archaeological material and Aryan life and thought as reflected in Vedic literature.

Book Synopsis Bullying in the Churches by : Stephen Finlan
Download or read book Bullying in the Churches written by Stephen Finlan and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2015-06-04 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do bullies have free rein in our churches? Who are the bullies? What is scapegoating? Is it possible to practice the mercy and forgiveness demanded by Gospel ethics while also protecting people from emotional and professional damage? These are some of the questions that Stephen Finlan seeks to answer, looking for an ethic of behavior that is both spiritually valid and psychologically wise. He seeks responses to bullying that are both "wise" and "harmless" (Matt 10:16), that do not leave people helpless against the cruelty of church bullies. Bullying has become a major concern in schools and workplaces, but the church sometimes lags behind the secular workplace in its ethics.
