Book Synopsis Challenges Confronting Students in Conducting Effective Physics Practicals in Senior High Schools in Namoo District by : Joshua Abanah Azechum

This book was released on 2024-02-16 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2024 in the subject Didactics - Physics, grade: A(0.4), , course: Philosophy of Education, language: English, abstract: This research entails an in-depth exploration of the challenges encountered by students when conducting physics experiments. Employing a descriptive survey approach, the study involved 270 students and 7 teachers in the Namoo District. From this pool, a sample of 120 students and 4 teachers was randomly selected for analysis. Numerous challenges were identified during the research, including difficulties in identifying physics apparatus, mounting equipment, recording accurate readings, and making careful observations during experiments. Additionally, issues such as insufficient laboratory apparatus, the absence of a standard physics laboratory, and inadequate supervision were prominent. Based on the findings, recommendations have been proposed to address these challenges. These include ensuring the provision of adequate laboratory equipment and establishing standard physics laboratory facilities. By implementing these recommendations, it is hoped that the practical learning experience for students in senior high schools can be improved in the Namoo District.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Laboratory Manual in Physics: To Accompany Black and Davis' "Practical Physics for Secondary Schools" It is now more than twenty years since we began to teach elementary physics in the laboratory and we already have many laboratory manuals. Why add another to the list? Every teacher of physics undoubtedly takes up the task of organizing his laboratory with great enthusiasm and high hopes. But sooner or later he finds that this business of teaching young people physics by means of laboratory exercises is a very difficult problem. No amount of costly apparatus or elaborate laboratory directions will produce that mental activity about physical phenomena that we all want to stimulate in our students. Doubtless the ideal method would be for each teacher to make his own laboratory manual, and many have done so. This book is the result of one teacher's attempt to get together a set of experiments that represent a well-balanced course. The aim has been to make the directions so clear and concise that the average boy or girl, who already has in mind a general outline of the problem, can not only do the experiment but can also see the point to it. It is assumed that when the class assembles for the laboratory exercise the teacher will first make a few introductory remarks to indicate just what the problem of the day is and how it is related to the previous work and to the practical affairs of life; then he will briefly outline just how the problem is to be attacked in the laboratory. If the student has already mastered the written directions, he ought then to be able to proceed intelligently and expeditiously with the work in hand. Book Synopsis Teaching Einsteinian Physics in Schools by : Magdalena Kersting
Download or read book Teaching Einsteinian Physics in Schools written by Magdalena Kersting and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-08-30 with total page 499 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In our world today, scientists and technologists speak one language of reality. Everyone else, whether they be prime ministers, lawyers, or primary school teachers speak an outdated Newtonian language of reality. While Newton saw time and space as rigid and absolute, Einstein showed that time is relative – it depends on height and velocity – and that space can stretch and distort. The modern Einsteinian perspective represents a significant paradigm shift compared with the Newtonian paradigm that underpins most of the school education today. Research has shown that young learners quickly access and accept Einsteinian concepts and the modern language of reality. Students enjoy learning about curved space, photons, gravitational waves, and time dilation; often, they ask for more! A consistent education within the Einsteinian paradigm requires rethinking of science education across the entire school curriculum, and this is now attracting attention around the world. This book brings together a coherent set of chapters written by leading experts in the field of Einsteinian physics education. The book begins by exploring the fundamental concepts of space, time, light, and gravity and how teachers can introduce these topics at an early age. A radical change in the curriculum requires new learning instruments and innovative instructional approaches. Throughout the book, the authors emphasise and discuss evidence-based approaches to Einsteinian concepts, including computer- based tools, geometrical methods, models and analogies, and simplified mathematical treatments. Teaching Einsteinian Physics in Schools is designed as a resource for teacher education students, primary and secondary science teachers, and for anyone interested in a scientifically accurate description of physical reality at a level appropriate for school education.

Book Synopsis A Manual of Practical Physics by : H. E. Hadley
Download or read book A Manual of Practical Physics written by H. E. Hadley and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-14 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Manual of Practical Physics Though many good manuals of elementary practical physics are available for general use in Secondary Schools, there are few of a reasonable size and moderate price suitable for students working to the standard of the pass Intermediate examinations of various British universities. Repeated requests for a course to correspond with this need are responsible for the preparation of the present laboratory guide. It is not suggested that the book contains all that such Intermediate examinations may demand as regards experimental work; nevertheless, the student who has performed most of the experiments described, and understands the principles taught by them, should find himself able to undertake any ordinary practical exercise in elementary physics. Apart from examination requirements, the scope and substance of the course are such as may be followed profitably by those senior students in Secondary Schools who propose to specialise in science. It is not assumed that students of Intermediate standard will require to carry out all the experiments described, as the majority of them will have taken already a preliminary course in physical measurements. But, as such previous work must vary in different cases, the course here described is complete in itself and includes a brief treatment of preliminary measurements, which may perhaps serve a useful purpose as revision exercises. A number of the experiments are preceded by a brief reference to the theory of the principles involved. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
