Also made available to me in their entirety were the Executive Board's minutes of the Brotherhood, fortified by vital data from the parent American Federation of Labor. I have, of course, thoroughly examined the published proceedings of the union itself. In a year spent on research, extensive travel and scores of interviews I have profited from the generous help of more people than a brief preface can mention. I should like to single out at least those who were able to supply information to me from their long and intimate association with Hutcheson himself and their experiences in the labor movement.
