Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Imagineering Cultural Vienna written by Johannes Suitner and published by transcript Verlag. This book was released on 2015-05-31 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Media discourses always consider Vienna as a »cultural city«. This study shows how such a perception is skilfully shaped by political constructions of cultural imaginaries in and of the city. The book unveils how simplistic cognitive interpretations of culture not only define an unquestioned, reductionist idea of the city's cultural character - it also explains how these imaginaries influence the recent urban development practice in one of Europe's globalizing cities.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 670 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Becoming an Entrepreneur by : Susanne Weber
Download or read book Becoming an Entrepreneur written by Susanne Weber and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-05 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides new insights into the important field of Entrepreneurship Education. The editors pick up Fayolle’s invitation: “How can we learn from ‘institutional’ culture?” and translate it to a variety of aspects of learning to start-up. From the perspective of Human Resource Education and Management (Wirtschaftspädagogik) the authors shed light into the socio-cultural system of entrepreneurship education. They start with mapping out its challenges. They discuss context factors like political regimes affecting entrepreneurial activities, consider goals including moral awareness, introduce ideas of modeling entre- and intrapreneurial competencies, suggest teaching-learning-strategies, discuss evaluation procedures and introduce case studies of entrepreneurship education in different countries for different study levels. All in all this book stimulates and supports the challenges of educators, students, and practitioners (human resource managers, consultants, principals, teachers, and trainers) to introduce into the varying contexts of entrepreneurship education content specific, procedural, causal elements necessary for starting and maintaining an enterprise.
Book Synopsis Educational Perspectives on Mediality and Subjectivation by : Patrick Bettinger
Download or read book Educational Perspectives on Mediality and Subjectivation written by Patrick Bettinger and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-10-22 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book examines the complex relationship between education, media and power. Exploring the entanglement of education media and power structures, the contributions use various examples and case studies to demonstrate how subjectivation processes and digital structures interact with one another. The book asks which modes of subjectivation can be identified with current media cultures, how subjects deal with the challenges and potential of digitality, and how coping and empowerment strategies are developed. By addressing theoretical as well as empirical evidence, the chapters illuminate these connections and the subsequent significance for media education more widely.
Download or read book Ralf Dahrendorf written by Olaf Kühne and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-04-24 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ralf Dahrendorf (1929 to 2009) has worked in sociology, political practice and political philosophy, and is associated with significant impulses in role theory and conflict theory. This book presents the first synthesis of his extensive oeuvre in English. Dahrendorf's political commitment was driven largely by his desire to maximize life chances, thus contributing to the further development of liberalism. In the tradition of Karl Popper, his work in all areas was aimed at defending the open society, and he saw conflicts, if they were settled, as being suitable in principle for contributing to social progress. This book provides insights into the various methodological and theoretical aspects and critiques of Ralf Dahrendorf's work, as well as his reflections on the position of sociology in the system of sciences and in relation to political practice. The current crisis of liberal politics has made Dahrendorf’s work more relevant than ever, and this overview will be of great interest to students and researchers across sociology, political science, political ideologies and European integration.

Download or read book The Evolution and Everyday Practice of Collective Patient Involvement in Europe written by Alexander Haarmann and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-10-17 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This timely study analyzes social, economic, political, provider, and patient factors shaping collective patient involvement in European health care from the postwar period to the present day. Examining representative countries England, the Netherlands, Germany, and Sweden, it documents the roles of providers and legislatures in facilitating consumer involvement, and the varied forms of patient input into hospital operations. These findings are compared and contrasted against the intent and ideals behind patient involvement to assess the effectiveness of implementation policy, strengths and drawbacks of patient participation, and patient satisfaction and outcomes. The book’s conclusions identify emerging forms of patient participation and predict the impact of health policy on the future of European collective patient involvement. Included in the coverage: · Patient involvement: who, what for, and in what way? · The Netherlands: the legislative process to collective patient involvement · England: formal means of public involvement—a continuous story of discontinuity · Germany: Joint Federal Committee—the “Little Legislator” · Sweden: reasons for a late emergence of patient involvement · Lessons to be learned from implementing patient involvement The Evolution and Everyday Practice of Collective Patient Involvement in Europe will interest and inspire scholars and researchers in diverse fields, including social policy, sociology, political sciences, and nursing studies, as well as patient organizations, policymakers, and healthcare providers.

Book excerpt: The enlargement of the European Union towards the East from May 2004 has generated an increase of about 100 million inhabitants in the EU population, and has especially brought along major challenges and important opportunities both for the "new" countries and for the "old" member states. That is the main focus of this volume, which is divided into three sections. The first analyses the effects of the enlargement on the functioning of Community institutions, on the relations with the other Eastern European countries, and finally on regional and global economic dynamics; the second section analyses in detail the role of the monetary politics of the European Central Bank and the activities of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development; and the third deals with the importance of the entrepreneurial class in ensuring the success of the transition process of the Eastern European economies.
