Book Synopsis Handbook of International Futurism by : Günter Berghaus
Download or read book Handbook of International Futurism written by Günter Berghaus and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2018-12-17 with total page 984 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Handbook of International Futurism is the first reference work ever to presents in a comparative fashion all media and countries in which the movement, initiated by F.T. Marinetti in 1909, exercised a particularly noteworthy influence. The handbook offers a synthesis of the state of scholarship regarding the international radiation of Futurism and its influence in some fifteen artistic disciplines and thirty-eight countries. While acknowledging the great achievements of the movement in the visual and literary arts of Italy and Russia, it treats Futurism as an international, multidisciplinary phenomenon that left a lasting mark on the manifold artistic manifestations of the early twentieth-century avant-garde. Hundreds of artists, who in some phase in their career absorbed Futurist ideas and stylistic devices, are presented in the context of their national traditions, their international connections and the media in which they were predominantly active. The handbook acts as a kind of multi-disciplinary, geographical encyclopaedia of Futurism and gives scholars with varying levels of experience a detailed overview of all countries and disciplines in which the movement had a major impact.

Book Synopsis Art, Architecture and Design in Poland, 966-1990 by : Stefan Muthesius
Download or read book Art, Architecture and Design in Poland, 966-1990 written by Stefan Muthesius and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first comprehensive history of Polish Art to appear outside Poland. Many areas of Poland boast works of Medieval art and Italian Renaissance. The refined 18th century was thoroughly imbued with the latest Italian, French and English fashions in design. The divided and dispossessed country of the 19th century then, developed its own national historical subjects and mythologies in painting which culminated in the work of the great artists of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. In the 20th Century Poland prided itself again in its participation in international Modernism, and Modern art reigned also for most of the decades after WW II., in church building and poster design. Compact yet comprehensive with 323 illustrations, with an extensive bibliography, geographical and historical maps this book serves as a work of reference as well as a guide. The lengthy Introduction takes on the history of Polish art history as a critical and academic discipline.

Their most recent production, The Wedding, is taken as a focal point for a retrospective discussion on the company’s development. Premiered at the festival celebrating the 40th anniversary of the company, The Wedding echoes most of the major achievements of Staniewski’s stage language and his capacity of exploring and developing the performative potential of liveness. This study consists of essays by prominent practitioners and theoreticians of theatre, director’s notes, conversations with Staniewski and other company members, selected archival materials and substantial visual coverage. It promises to be of great interest to students and scholars across the fields of theatre and performance studies.

Book Synopsis Jerzy Grotowski's Journeys to the East by : Zbigniew Osinski
Download or read book Jerzy Grotowski's Journeys to the East written by Zbigniew Osinski and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-05-31 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jerzy Grotowski’s Journeys to the East is an unusual collection of facts, quotations, and commentaries documenting the real and metaphorical journeys of the Polish theatre director and ‘teacher of performers’ into a geographical and cultural dimension which we used to and still call the Orient. Grotowski’s contacts and meetings with the East are placed here in the context of his biography. Painstakingly researched by Grotowski’s main biographer Zbigniew Osiński, this book is necessary reading for those interested in Grotowski’s deep relationship with the East and in the inspiration he drew from its various cultures. The book will appeal to all readers who feel a need to have a glimpse of the East from the perspective of one of the main theatre reformers in the twentieth century.

Book Synopsis Poszukiwanie tożsamości kulturowej w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej 1919-2014. The Search for Cultural Identity in East-Central Europe 1919-2014 by : IRENA KOSSOWSKA
Download or read book Poszukiwanie tożsamości kulturowej w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej 1919-2014. The Search for Cultural Identity in East-Central Europe 1919-2014 written by IRENA KOSSOWSKA and published by Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu Mikołaja Kopernika. This book was released on 2015 with total page 551 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Okres transformacji polityczno-ekonomicznej w Europie po upadku muru berlińskiego cechowały z jednej strony dążenia integracyjne w ramach Wspólnoty Europejskiej, z drugiej zaś odnowa zainteresowania paradygmatem regionalnej, narodowej i lokalnej tożsamości. Zjawiska glokalizacji, łagodzące skutki dominacji zachodnich wzorców kulturowych, stają się tu ważnym punktem odniesienia, umożliwiającym dowartościowanie lokalnej odrębności i kulturowej tradycji.
