A hardliner into field of classical poetry? In trying of overcoming loneliness of verses, of strophes and of lines?… Poetry, as basic form of literature, must accept all its developing dimensions, of poet-o-logy, of poetry-pietism, of quasi-poetry, including those of ANTIPOETRY!... But ANTIPOETRY must be written and re-written with anti-words, with anti-syllables, with anti-letters, with anti-numbers and with anti-symbols, by creating and recreating a sum of anti-verses, of anti-lines, of anti-strophes, by turning down thus all what is known till today in classical poetry, whatever in scribes-manuscript, Gutenberg-print, or digital print of present ages… In the same time, ANTIPOETRY must induce or re-induce a feeling of anti-emotion, an anti-logical perception of poetry, of anti-allegory, of anti-metaphor, of anti-ballads, of anti-epos, of anti-epithet, of anti-hermetism, of anti-hymn content, of anti-ode sense, of anti-idyllic structure, of anti-parable form and so on… The Anti-Poet

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dive into the Antipoetic Realm Dr. Ruben Gonzalez uses antipoetic devices in his poems of the modern world. These poems break all the traditional rules of poetry. The raw and simple language of these poems offer a New Voice that is at times sarcastic and at times humorous, but always fresh. Here are a few tempting sample lines from some of the poetic offerings in this book: Today I am the King of my world: The remote is in my hand! Tomorrow will be another chance to change the world. All politicians have to be crooks and liars. Take it for granted that you will go to hell. Do not be afraid to dive into these mischievous poems found only in the Antipoetic World!

Book excerpt: Anti-Poetry is a poetry book that breaks all the rules. Filled with "Anti-Poems" written from the deepest depths of my soul and without limitations. Foreward: I did not set out to write a book. This all started with me trying to find an outlet for the thoughts floating around my "tortured mind". I stumbled upon the medium of poetry not because I loved it, but because I hated it! ...(at the time). "Poetry" can be confusing. I felt that poetry was a restrictive medium masquerading as the opposite. There seemed to be patterns and rules to follow for what makes a "good poem". In plain sight, trends became unspoken rules over time. And yet I do love the essence of the medium: the expression of indescribable phenomena; Human Emotions. And so I decided one day after writing many poems that seemed to break all the rules of poetry, to write a book, because something interesting started happening: I began to love these poems that I hated. Understand that the words in this book do not intentionally adhere- at least not consciously- to one theme or structure. These are a bunch of words I wrote that made me feel something, or rather connected me a bit closer to what I was feeling as I wrote them. And so, what started out as my little "punk-poetry" experiment became something much more beautiful than I had intended. There are real poems in here, not just ones I created to break the rules of poetry. Some are weird, some are bad, some are beautiful, some are ugly, some are more like journal entries. Some, you may not consider "poetry" at all. Whether you love, hate, are confused by, or inspired by these Anti-Poems, just know they came from an unfiltered heart. I hope you enjoy at least one. Thank you for reading my first book - "Anti-Poetry". Love, Jihad

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Collected Poems brings together nearly four decades of C. K.Williams's work: more than four hundred poems that, though remarkable in their variety, have in common Williams's distinctive outlook—restless, passionate, dogged, and uncompromising in the drive to find words for the truth about life as we know it today. Williams's rangy, elastic lines are measures of thought, and in these pages we watch them unfold from his confrontational early poems through the open, expansive Tar and With Ignorance. His voice is both cerebral and muscular, capable of both the eightline poems of Flesh and Blood and the inward soundings of A Dream of Mind—and of both together in the award-winning recent books Repair and The Singing. These poems feel spontaneous, individual, and directly representative of the experience of which they sing; open to life, they chafe against summary and conclusion. Few poets leave behind them a body of work that is global in its ambition and achievement. C. K. Williams is one of them.

Book excerpt: The power of Eros, the enduring beauty of art, a love-hate nostalgia for his Argentine homeland, the bonds of friendship and the tragic folly of politics are some of the themes of Save Twilight. Informed by his immersion in world literature, music, art, and history, and most of his own emotional geography, Cortazar's poetry traces his paradoxical evolution from provincial Argentinean sophisticate to cosmopolitan Parisian Romantic, always maintaining the sense of astonishment of an artist surprised by life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Verse is born free but everywhere in chains. It has been my project to rattle the chains." (from "The Revenge of the Poet-Critic") In My Way, (in)famous language poet and critic Charles Bernstein deploys a wide variety of interlinked forms—speeches and poems, interviews and essays—to explore the place of poetry in American culture and in the university. Sometimes comic, sometimes dark, Bernstein's writing is irreverent but always relevant, "not structurally challenged, but structurally challenging." Addressing many interrelated issues, Bernstein moves from the role of the public intellectual to the poetics of scholarly prose, from vernacular modernism to idiosyncratic postmodernism, from identity politics to the resurgence of the aesthetic, from cultural studies to poetry as a performance art, from the small press movement to the Web. Along the way he provides "close listening" to such poets as Charles Reznikoff, Laura Riding, Susan Howe, Ezra Pound, Allen Ginsberg, and Gertrude Stein, as well as a fresh perspective on L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E, the magazine he coedited that became a fulcrum for a new wave of North American writing. In his passionate defense of an activist, innovative poetry, Bernstein never departs from the culturally engaged, linguistically complex, yet often very funny writing that has characterized his unique approach to poetry for over twenty years. Offering some of his most daring work yet—essays in poetic lines, prose with poetic motifs, interviews miming speech, speeches veering into song—Charles Bernstein's My Way illuminates the newest developments in contemporary poetry with its own contributions to them. "The result of [Bernstein's] provocative groping is more stimulating than many books of either poetry or criticism have been in recent years."—Molly McQuade, Washington Post Book World "This book, for all of its centrifugal activity, is a singular yet globally relevant perspective on the literary arts and their institutions, offered in good faith, yet cranky and poignant enough to not be easily ignored."—Publishers Weekly "Bernstein has emerged as postmodern poetry's sous-chef of insouciance. My Way is another of his rich concoctions, fortified with intellect and seasoned with laughter."—Timothy Gray, American Literature

Book excerpt: "Luis Pales Matos, a white man who began the poesia negra movement in Latin America in 1925, is the subject of The Numinous Site, Julio Marzan's latest book. Unlike its English-language counterpart, poesia negra refers to its subject and not the poet's race, so white poets are credited with writing poesia negra." "Pales's poesia afroantillana popularized the "dark" forces (African roots and unprestigious language) that were the white society's antimatter, an antipoetic consciousness that, complemented and refined by other poesia negra, opened the Latin American poem." "Perhaps influenced by Heidegger, throughout his work Pales reiterated his obsession with the frontier where the mundane touches the spiritual or metaphysical. His poems take the reader on a passage to an encounter with the imagistic representation of that force informing the soul of the individual, the collectivity, and the physical world. All his poems take us on that passage, including his socially conscious Afro-Antillean poems, because they originate from Pales's sense that language, including "Boricua," is synonymous with time and our sense of being. For Luis Pales Matos, poesia was an altar, and style a liturgy that, whether performed in drumbeats or words, invoked the poetic essence that he called the "numen.""--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc.
