Everyone may feel differently because everyone might react differently to the same poem. Or some people may experience the same emotions. Poems that Express Different Aspects of Emotions uses surrealism, abstraction, realism, and literal kinds of poetry to create a different aspect of emotion from within you. That’s right! This book is designed to bring out what you feel based on what you experience as you read the poem. Amanda Libbers hopes that this book brings out primarily positive emotions, though it might bring out a little sadness too. If you are looking to experience different things in the realm of Christian viewpoints, this is the book for you! (Note: Christian viewpoints are interpreted as literally as possible and referenced as such when using or interpreting scripture directly within a poem.)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How does one summarize an eclectic collection of words that express the jumbled sets of complex emotions spanning a lifetime? What they mean to those who were the motivation for their creation cannot begin to be expressed to "mere" readers who happen upon this book as passersby to a recent accident. You see the results, but needed to have been there to fully feel the impact on your emotions. Yet poetry, like art of a more physical nature, has meaning to each of us on our own level. It is with that thought in mind that the author submits these poems to the world. If nothing is gained from the reading, but a single laugh; a solitary tear, or one knowing nod of the head; then the job will have been worth the doing. Please walk the path of life a little less quickly and hug those you love a bit more often.

Book excerpt: The astonishing, powerful debut by the winner of a 2016 Whiting Writers' Award WHEREAS her birth signaled the responsibility as mother to teach what it is to be Lakota therein the question: What did I know about being Lakota? Signaled panic, blood rush my embarrassment. What did I know of our language but pieces? Would I teach her to be pieces? Until a friend comforted, Don’t worry, you and your daughter will learn together. Today she stood sunlight on her shoulders lean and straight to share a song in Diné, her father’s language. To sing she motions simultaneously with her hands; I watch her be in multiple musics. —from “WHEREAS Statements” WHEREAS confronts the coercive language of the United States government in its responses, treaties, and apologies to Native American peoples and tribes, and reflects that language in its officiousness and duplicity back on its perpetrators. Through a virtuosic array of short lyrics, prose poems, longer narrative sequences, resolutions, and disclaimers, Layli Long Soldier has created a brilliantly innovative text to examine histories, landscapes, her own writing, and her predicament inside national affiliations. “I am,” she writes, “a citizen of the United States and an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, meaning I am a citizen of the Oglala Lakota Nation—and in this dual citizenship I must work, I must eat, I must art, I must mother, I must friend, I must listen, I must observe, constantly I must live.” This strident, plaintive book introduces a major new voice in contemporary literature.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This poetry book- She Expresses Through Poetry-depicts the author's feelings and emotions in the poem. This is her first poetry book, consisting of 68 different poems on various themes. The author expressed her emotions and feelings on love, heartbreak, life, parents, death, nature, challenges of life, dreams, failures, emptiness, sufferings of life and many more. This very poetry book consists of various poems on different topics, which will convey or give the taste of hope, happiness, sadness, and melancholy. The author has made use of figures of speech to make her poetry touching and interesting, which would grab the reader's attention to go through this book. This book will take you through various emotions, which may even make you feel like the author has exactly expressed or written what you have felt or felt or gone through. The poems written in this book are based on the author's personal emotions as well as experiences and events she has observed or heard about. As the author wrote this poem, she immersed herself fully in the inking and expressed what she felt and what she felt in the form of alphabets, which gave her relief as well as refreshed her tired mind and soul. Some of the poems in this book were written by the author in response to title suggestions from friends and readers. Some of the poems in this very poetry book are written based on what happened to the author in real life, like the feelings of her love, the pain of heartbreak, and the pain of losing someone who was close to her forever. The poems in this book are written in simple words, not bombastic words, so that the readers can understand and feel what she has written. Some poems in this very book were written by the author dedicating them to her love, to those who had hurt her, and some poems were written based on what she heard and saw in and around her by placing herself in others' shoes and feeling it and expressing it in the form of the alphabets. At times, when she was broken to the core, filled with pain, she just expressed it through poetry, which helped her feel a little better after pouring what she felt into the inks. The author wishes and hopes that every reader who takes hold of her book and slips through the pages of her poetry book may get to explore more about love, life, values and lessons of life. She hopes readers will feel her poetry to the core and she wishes she could convey some beneficial messages through the poems written in this very poetry book. She even hopes to inspire those who love the art of writing. The author is happy to turn her collection of poems into a book which can travel to every corner of the world to be read and explored by countless numbers of people.

Book excerpt: A remarkable Pocket Poets anthology of poems from around the world and across the centuries about illness and healing, both physical and spiritual. From ancient Greece and Rome up to the present moment, poets have responded with sensitivity and insight to the troubles of the human body and mind. Poems of Healing gathers a treasury of such poems, tracing the many possible journeys of physical and spiritual illness, injury, and recovery, from John Donne’s “Hymne to God My God, In My Sicknesse” and Emily Dickinson’s “The Soul has Bandaged moments” to Eavan Boland’s “Anorexic,” from W.H. Auden’s “Miss Gee” to Lucille Clifton’s “Cancer,” and from D.H. Lawrence’s “The Ship of Death” to Rafael Campo’s “Antidote” and Seamus Heaney’s “Miracle.” Here are poems from around the world, by Sappho, Milton, Baudelaire, Longfellow, Cavafy, and Omar Khayyam; by Stevens, Lowell, and Plath; by Zbigniew Herbert, Louise Bogan, Yehuda Amichai, Mark Strand, and Natalia Toledo. Messages of hope in the midst of pain—in such moving poems as Adam Zagajewski’s “Try to Praise the Mutilated World,” George Herbert’s “The Flower,” Wisława Szymborska’s “The End and the Beginning,” Gwendolyn Brooks’ “when you have forgotten Sunday: the love story” and Stevie Smith’s “Away, Melancholy”—make this the perfect gift to accompany anyone on a journey of healing. Book excerpt: The follow-up book to the popular original "Pieces of the Heart", exploring more emotions, and inspiring another group of readers... Emotions. Life. The saying goes that the eyes are the windows to your soul. Given that to be true, then I submit that life's experiences are the lifeline to the heart. For every experience, there is a new piece added to the heart. With each new experience, comes an emotion. Many come with emotions. Many emotions are new, many are somewhat the same, yet independent of themselves. Each also carries varying degrees at which each emotion is felt...each experience a piece, of varying size, of the heart. And it's the culmination of those experiences that make up our heart. Which emotions do we feel strongest? Which emotions seem to control us? Which emotions make us weak. We all experience differently, create differently, and envision differently. We all have varying degrees of emotions, through our experiences and through our creativity and visions. This collection of experiences will take the reader into a past of memories, triggering thoughts and maybe a smile or two. This collection may take the reader into a present thought process, triggering experiences that readers may be encountering now. Finally, this collection will take the reader deep into thought about their visions of the future. This is a feel good collection of poems that will set the reader at ease, yet will delve into some deep emotions. Enjoy!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chinese Buddhist monks of the Song dynasty (960–1279) called the irresistible urge to compose poetry “the poetry demon.” In this ambitious study, Jason Protass seeks to bridge the fields of Buddhist studies and Chinese literature to examine the place of poetry in the lives of Song monks. Although much has been written about verses in the gong’an (Jpn. kōan) tradition, very little is known about the large corpora—roughly 30,000 extant poems—composed by these monastics. Protass addresses the oversight by using strategies associated with religious studies, literary studies, and sociology. He weaves together poetry with a wide range of monastic sources and in doing so argues against positing a “literary Chan” movement that wrote poetry as a path to awakening; he instead presents an understanding of monks’ poetry grounded in the Song discourse of monks themselves. The work begins by examining how monks fashioned new genres, created their own books, and fueled a monastic audience for monks’ poetry. It traces the evolution of gāthā from hymns found in Buddhist scripture to an independent genre for poems associated with Chan masters as living buddhas. While Song monastic culture produced a prodigious amount of verse, at the same time it promoted prohibitions against monks’ participation in poetry as a worldly or Confucian art: This constructive tension was an animating force. The Poetry Demon highlights this and other intersections of Buddhist doctrine with literary sociality and charts productive pathways through numerous materials, including collections of Chan “recorded sayings,” monastic rulebooks, “eminent monk” and “flame record” hagiographies, manuscripts of poetry, Buddhist encyclopedia, primers, and sūtra commentary. Two chapter-length case studies illustrate how Song monks participated in two of the most prominent and conservative modes of poetry of the time, those of parting and mourning. Protass reveals how monks used Chan humor with reference to emptiness to transform acts of separation into Buddhist teachings. In another chapter, monks in mourning expressed their grief and dharma through poetry. The Poetry Demon impressively uncovers new and creative ways to study Chinese Buddhist monks’ poetry while contributing to the broader study of Chinese religion and literature.

Book excerpt: Poetry can be daunting and hard to understand, but it doesn't have to be. I feel a poet has an obligation to write in a way that everyone can understand. Poems should flow softly through a poet's words, their meanings gently caressing the heart and mind of its reader. If a poem comes from the heart, it will reach other hearts, and this is what I've tried to do with the poetry in "Anatomy of a Poet." CJ Heck "Like a rose with many petals and sharing its sweet aroma, this is how I see and feel about the love of my life, CJ Heck. She is my electric blue-eyed girl. She can be both a little girl, or a strong woman, whenever and wherever the situation calls for it. She is both sensuous and exciting, and soft and affectionate. Tragedy struck her life early with the death of her husband in Vietnam. This experience laid open the very core of her heart and soul and opened the channel to a well of compassion and sensitivity that waited deep within. Her pain was the fertilizer that helped her bloom as a writer. CJ's poetry is not a surface observation, but a soulful interpretation of the events and people that inspired her. She writes both eloquently and simply of things that touch her heart, things she wants to share. She is gifted at painting a picture with words on the heart and imagination of others, thereby communicating not just an image, but a life experience. I feel very honored to have been asked to write this introduction and share my feelings about CJ Heck. She is the water for my soil, the sunlight for my petals and the nurturer of my growth. Sit back, open your heart and enjoy the journey as revealed through her words, images and emotions. You are blessed by this opportunity to know her in words, as I know her in life." Robert S. Cosmar, Author "This is my kind of poetry. Direct, beautifully expressed and without a hint of pretension." Allison Cassidy "CJ is predominately viewed as a writer of works for children, but CJ now carries over her approach to more adult themes. In doing so, she presents a profound world that is deeply sad, incredibly humorous and sometimes very intimate." Joseph Daly "I love learning new words, especially when they are explained with such diaphanous clarity. Whether she talks of love, children, life, or any other subject, CJ's words are always clear and harmonious. She makes us forget that easy to read is hard to write." Marc Mimouni (London, United Kingdom) "CJ Heck is a very talented author. Her words are enlightening and charismatic to people of all ages. It is a privilege and honor to read her prolific pen." Janet Caldwell (Managing Editor, Inner Child Magazine
