Book excerpt: These poems represent a collection of my work dating back to my high school days, marking the beginning of my poetic journey. Over the years, I poured my heart and soul into crafting almost a thousand articles, and these poems are the remnants of that labor. Sadly, time and neglect have caused me to lose these precious notebooks, and now they feel like fragments of my very being that I can never retrieve. Within those pages are the encapsulated thoughts and cherished emotions of my younger years. While I humbly accept that my rhymes and phrases may not match the brilliance of esteemed poets of our era, I passionately believe that the authenticity and heartfelt sentiment infused into each verse offer a worthwhile compensation. Many of these poems hold a special place in my heart, as they are dedicated to those individuals who have touched my life in unique and significant ways.

He spent his career as a master in the Arts Faculty at the University of Paris, producing commentaries and independent treatises on logic, metaphysics, natural philosophy, and ethics. The commentary was widely read during the later Middle Ages and the Renaissance. This volume presents the first critical edition of books I & II of the final redaction of Buridan's Questions Commentary on the Physics. The critical edition of the Latin text is accompanied by a detailed guide to the contents of Buridan's questions.
Book Synopsis The Arabic, Hebrew and Latin Reception of Avicenna's Physics and Cosmology by : Dag Nikolaus Hasse
Download or read book The Arabic, Hebrew and Latin Reception of Avicenna's Physics and Cosmology written by Dag Nikolaus Hasse and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2018-10-22 with total page 597 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Avicenna (Ibn Sīnā) greatly influenced later medieval thinking about the earth and the cosmos, not only in his own civilization, but also in Hebrew and Latin cultures. The studies presented in this volume discuss the reception of prominent theories by Avicenna from the early 11th century onwards by thinkers like Averroes, Fahraddin ar-Razi, Samuel ibn Tibbon or Albertus Magnus. Among the topics which receive particular attention are the definition and existence of motion and time. Other important topics are covered too, such as Avicenna’s theories of vacuum, causality, elements, substantial change, minerals, floods and mountains. It emerges, among other things, that Avicenna inherited to the discussion an acute sense for the epistemological status of natural science and for the mental and concrete existence of its objects. The volume also addresses the philological and historical circumstances of the textual tradition and sheds light on the translators Dominicus Gundisalvi, Avendauth and Alfred of Sareshel in particular. The articles of this volume are presented by scholars who convened in 2013 to discuss their research on the influence of Avicenna’s physics and cosmology in the Villa Vigoni, Italy.
