Azure Pipelines is one of the most popular services that you can utilize for CI/CD, and this book shows you how it works by taking you through the process of building and automating CI/CD systems using Azure Pipelines and YAML, simplifying integration with Azure resources and reducing human error. You’ll begin by getting an overview of Azure Pipelines and why you should use it. Next, the book helps you get to grips with build and release pipelines, and then builds upon this by introducing the extensive power of YAML syntax, which you can use to implement and configure any task you can think of. As you advance, you’ll discover how to integrate Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform, and perform code analysis with SonarQube. In the concluding chapters, you’ll delve into real-life scenarios and hands-on implementation tasks with Microsoft Azure services, AWS, and cross-mobile application with Flutter, Google Firebase, and more. By the end of this book, you’ll be able to design and build CI/CD systems using Azure Pipelines with consummate ease, write code using YAML, and configure any task that comes to mind. What you will learn Create multiple jobs, stages, and tasks on the Azure DevOps portal Use YAML syntax for Node.js, .NET, Docker, and SQL Server tasks Automate microservice applications on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters Deploy Docker applications on AWS container services Use SonarQube and Jenkins for security and artifacts Implement CI/CD on Flutter-based mobile applications Utilize Azure Key Vault secrets in Azure Pipelines Build a Node.js application in Azure Container Instances Who this book is for This book is for DevOps engineers, release engineers, SREs, application developers, and sysadmins looking to manage CI/CD using Azure Pipelines with the help of real-world use cases. Build Breakthrough Performance into Any SOA or Advanced Computing Application To meet unprecedented demand, IT organizations must improve application performance by an order of magnitude. Improving performance is even more crucial in SOA environments, which demand far more computing power than older architectures. Today’s multi-core servers can deliver the performance businesses require, but few applications take full advantage of them. Now, software innovator Cory Isaacson introduces an easier, more flexible approach to parallel processing—one that any IT organization can use to attain unprecedented levels of performance. Isaacson shows how Software Pipeline models can help you scale applications to any level required, maximize resources, deliver on challenging objectives, and achieve unprecedented ROI. He illuminates these techniques with real-life business scenarios and proven design patterns—everything architects, analysts, and developers need to start using them immediately. This book’s in-depth coverage includes How Software Pipelines work, what they can accomplish, and how you can apply them using the Software Pipelines Optimization Cycle (SPOC) Scaling applications via parallel processing while guaranteeing order of processing in mission-critical applications Solving performance problems in existing applications, and resolving bottlenecks in existing processes A complete, easy-to-adapt Pipelines Reference Framework Detailed code examples reflecting proven Pipelines Patterns Techniques that can be applied in any industry, with any programming language Specific architectural and design solutions for common business and technical challenges The future of Software Pipelines: emerging opportunities for “greenfield” development Tools, sample templates, and source code at www.informit.com/title/0137137974, Download

Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • LONGLISTED FOR THE NATIONAL BOOK AWARD • One of today’s most insightful and influential thinkers offers a powerful exploration of inequality and the lesson that generations of Americans have failed to learn: Racism has a cost for everyone—not just for people of color. WINNER OF THE PORCHLIGHT BUSINESS BOOK AWARD • ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: Time, The Washington Post, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Ms. magazine, BookRiot, Library Journal “This is the book I’ve been waiting for.”—Ibram X. Kendi, #1 New York Times bestselling author of How to Be an Antiracist Look for the author’s new podcast, The Sum of Us, based on this book! Heather McGhee’s specialty is the American economy—and the mystery of why it so often fails the American public. From the financial crisis of 2008 to rising student debt to collapsing public infrastructure, she found a root problem: racism in our politics and policymaking. But not just in the most obvious indignities for people of color. Racism has costs for white people, too. It is the common denominator of our most vexing public problems, the core dysfunction of our democracy and constitutive of the spiritual and moral crises that grip us all. But how did this happen? And is there a way out? McGhee embarks on a deeply personal journey across the country from Maine to Mississippi to California, tallying what we lose when we buy into the zero-sum paradigm—the idea that progress for some of us must come at the expense of others. Along the way, she meets white people who confide in her about losing their homes, their dreams, and their shot at better jobs to the toxic mix of American racism and greed. This is the story of how public goods in this country—from parks and pools to functioning schools—have become private luxuries; of how unions collapsed, wages stagnated, and inequality increased; and of how this country, unique among the world’s advanced economies, has thwarted universal healthcare. But in unlikely places of worship and work, McGhee finds proof of what she calls the Solidarity Dividend: the benefits we gain when people come together across race to accomplish what we simply can’t do on our own. The Sum of Us is not only a brilliant analysis of how we arrived here but also a heartfelt message, delivered with startling empathy, from a black woman to a multiracial America. It leaves us with a new vision for a future in which we finally realize that life can be more than a zero-sum game. LONGLISTED FOR THE ANDREW CARNEGIE MEDAL

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book starts with simple arithmetic inequalities and builds to sophisticated inequality results such as the Cauchy-Schwarz and Chebyshev inequalities. Nothing beyond high school algebra is required of the student. The exposition is lean. Most of the learning occurs as the student engages in the problems posed in each chapter. And the learning is not “linear”. The central topic of inequalities is linked to others in mathematics. Often these topics relate to much more than algebraic inequalities. There are also “secret” pathways through the book. Each chapter has a subtext, a theme which prepares the student for learning other mathematical topics, concepts, or habits of mind. For example, the early chapters on the arithmetic mean/geometric mean inequality show how very simple observations can be leveraged to yield useful and interesting results. Later chapters give examples of how one can generalize a mathematical statement. The chapter on the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality provides an introduction to vectors as mathematical objects. And there are many other secret pathways that the authors hope the reader will discover—and follow. In the interest of fostering a greater awareness and appreciation of mathematics and its connections to other disciplines and everyday life, MSRI and the AMS are publishing books in the Mathematical Circles Library series as a service to young people, their parents and teachers, and the mathematics profession.
