Shakespeare does not much mention architecture, the reason being, that the architecture of his day, and of the old time before him, was so good. We do think and speak much of architecture, the reason being that, to us, it is an art of the past; the architecture of our own day being, mainly, very poor, and mean, and unlovely; while the buildings which remain to us, as relics of our ancestors, are picturesque, poetical, instinct with noble and with true ideas.
