Book Synopsis Physics of Quantum Rings by : Vladimir M. Fomin
Download or read book Physics of Quantum Rings written by Vladimir M. Fomin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-09-01 with total page 585 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, now in its second edition, introduces readers to quantum rings as a special class of modern high-tech material structures at the nanoscale. It deals, in particular, with their formation by means of molecular beam epitaxy and droplet epitaxy of semiconductors, and their topology-driven electronic, optical and magnetic properties. A highly complex theoretical model is developed to adequately represent the specific features of quantum rings. The results presented here are intended to facilitate the development of low-cost high-performance electronic, spintronic, optoelectronic and information processing devices based on quantum rings. This second edition includes both new and significantly revised chapters. It provides extensive information on recent advances in the physics of quantum rings related to the spin-orbit interaction and spin dynamics (spin interference in Rashba rings, tunable exciton topology on type II InAs/GaAsSb quantum nanostructures), the electron-phonon interaction in ring-like structures, quantum interference manifestations in novel materials (graphene nanoribbons, MoS2), and the effects of electrical field and THz radiation on the optical properties of quantum rings. The new edition also shares insights into the properties of various novel architectures, including coupled quantum ring-quantum dot chains and concentric quantum rings, topologic states of light in self-assembled ring-like cavities, and optical and plasmon m.odes in Möbius-shaped resonators.

Download or read book Physics of Quantum Rings written by Vladimir M. Fomin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-08-29 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with a new class of materials, quantum rings. Innovative recent advances in experimental and theoretical physics of quantum rings are based on the most advanced state-of-the-art fabrication and characterization techniques as well as theoretical methods. The experimental efforts allow to obtain a new class of semiconductor quantum rings formed by capping self-organized quantum dots grown by molecular beam epitaxy. Novel optical and magnetic properties of quantum rings are associated with non-trivial topologies at the nanoscale. An adequate characterization of quantum rings is possible on the basis of modern characterization methods of nanostructures, such as Scanning Tunneling Microscopy. A high level of complexity is demonstrated to be needed for a dedicated theoretical model to adequately represent the specific features of quantum rings. The findings presented in this book contribute to develop low-cost high-performance electronic, spintronic, optoelectronic and information processing devices based on quantum rings.
Book Synopsis Quantum Ring Theory by : Wladimir Guglinski
Download or read book Quantum Ring Theory written by Wladimir Guglinski and published by Bauu Inst. This book was released on 2006-08-01 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Quantum Ring Theory Wladimir Guglinski presents a radical new theory concerning the fundamental nature of physics. Hailed as a intriguing theorist by Dr. Eugene Mallove, president of the New Energy Foundation, Guglinski argues that the current understanding of physics does not put forth an accurate model of the world. Instead, Guglinski argues that we must once again consider the "aether," a notion originally put forth by Greek philosophers. By considering the nature of "aether" and its role in physical processes, Guglinski is able to put forth a theory that reconciles Quantum Physics with the Theory of Relativity. To date, no other physical theory is able to accord for the intraction between these two fundamental areas of physics. As part of Guglinski's new theory, the author presents a new model of the neutron. Guglinski's model of the neutron has been confirmed by contemporary physical experiments: The first one was made by Don Borghi and published in 1993 by the American Institute of Physics; the second experiment was made by Elio Conte and Maria Pieralice, subsequently published in the magazine Infinite Energy in 1999. Currently, other experiments around the world are being conducted to test the remainder of Guglinski's theoretical work. Quantum Ring Theory presents for the first time in a complete text the theoretical work of Wladimir Guglinski. In this volume cutting edge theoretical work in physics is presented; theoretical work which may ultimately change the very way we understand the world.
Book Synopsis Galois Fields and Galois Rings Made Easy by : Maurice Kibler
Download or read book Galois Fields and Galois Rings Made Easy written by Maurice Kibler and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-09-22 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book constitutes an elementary introduction to rings and fields, in particular Galois rings and Galois fields, with regard to their application to the theory of quantum information, a field at the crossroads of quantum physics, discrete mathematics and informatics. The existing literature on rings and fields is primarily mathematical. There are a great number of excellent books on the theory of rings and fields written by and for mathematicians, but these can be difficult for physicists and chemists to access. This book offers an introduction to rings and fields with numerous examples. It contains an application to the construction of mutually unbiased bases of pivotal importance in quantum information. It is intended for graduate and undergraduate students and researchers in physics, mathematical physics and quantum chemistry (especially in the domains of advanced quantum mechanics, quantum optics, quantum information theory, classical and quantum computing, and computer engineering). Although the book is not written for mathematicians, given the large number of examples discussed, it may also be of interest to undergraduate students in mathematics. Contains numerous examples that accompany the text Includes an important chapter on mutually unbiased bases Helps physicists and theoretical chemists understand this area of mathematics
Book Synopsis Physics on the Fringe by : Margaret Wertheim
Download or read book Physics on the Fringe written by Margaret Wertheim and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2011-11-01 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the past fifteen years, acclaimed science writer Margaret Wertheim has been collecting the works of "outsider physicists," many without formal training and all convinced that they have found true alternative theories of the universe. Jim Carter, the Einstein of outsiders, has developed his own complete theory of matter and energy and gravity that he demonstrates with experiments in his backyard,-with garbage cans and a disco fog machine he makes smoke rings to test his ideas about atoms. Captivated by the imaginative power of his theories and his resolutely DIY attitude, Wertheim has been following Carter's progress for the past decade. Centuries ago, natural philosophers puzzled out the laws of nature using the tools of observation and experimentation. Today, theoretical physics has become mathematically inscrutable, accessible only to an elite few. In rejecting this abstraction, outsider theorists insist that nature speaks a language we can all understand. Through a profoundly human profile of Jim Carter, Wertheim's exploration of the bizarre world of fringe physics challenges our conception of what science is, how it works, and who it is for.

Book Synopsis Quantum Physics in the Nanoworld by : Hans Lüth
Download or read book Quantum Physics in the Nanoworld written by Hans Lüth and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-10-23 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book deals with all essential aspects of non-relativistic quantum physics up to the quantization of fields. In contrast to common textbooks of quantum mechanics, modern experiments are described both for the purpose of foundation of the theory and in relation to recent applications. In this respect applications to nano-electronics as well as the realization of quantum-bits are presented and discussed. Furthermore, links are made to other important research fields and applications, such as elementary particle physics, solid state physics and nuclear magnetic resonance tomography in medicine. Even though the representation of the topics is largely performed in terms of Dirac ́s bra-ket notation and by use of commutator algebra, the concrete description of the physical basis and the corresponding theoretical concepts are emphasized. Because of little requirement of complex mathematics, the book is suitable as an introduction into quantum physics, not only for physicists but also for chemists, biologists, engineers, computer scientists and even for philosophers as far as they are interested in natural philosophy and epistomology.

Download or read book Galileo Unbound written by David D. Nolte and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-07-12 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Galileo Unbound traces the journey that brought us from Galileo's law of free fall to today's geneticists measuring evolutionary drift, entangled quantum particles moving among many worlds, and our lives as trajectories traversing a health space with thousands of dimensions. Remarkably, common themes persist that predict the evolution of species as readily as the orbits of planets or the collapse of stars into black holes. This book tells the history of spaces of expanding dimension and increasing abstraction and how they continue today to give new insight into the physics of complex systems. Galileo published the first modern law of motion, the Law of Fall, that was ideal and simple, laying the foundation upon which Newton built the first theory of dynamics. Early in the twentieth century, geometry became the cause of motion rather than the result when Einstein envisioned the fabric of space-time warped by mass and energy, forcing light rays to bend past the Sun. Possibly more radical was Feynman's dilemma of quantum particles taking all paths at once — setting the stage for the modern fields of quantum field theory and quantum computing. Yet as concepts of motion have evolved, one thing has remained constant, the need to track ever more complex changes and to capture their essence, to find patterns in the chaos as we try to predict and control our world.

Book Synopsis How many holes does a ring have? by : Gnomo Orzo
Download or read book How many holes does a ring have? written by Gnomo Orzo and published by Dhora Impresa Sociale - Editoria. This book was released on 2018-01-02 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if the universe weighed nothing and matter did not really exist? That which seems to be a legitimate doubt for a mystic scholar of the Indian Vedas is, instead, an embarrassing result of applying restricted Relativity to observations obtained from the group of astrophysics who have measured the background cosmic radiation of our universe. At the dawn of the new millennium, the WMAP satellite, in addition to providing us with measurements of the cosmos that have never been obtained before, also created many concerns about the conception of the universe, which we still obstinately believe today. Through the story of one hundred years of provocative discoveries in Physics, this book leads us to a new, astonishing vision of the cosmos. Curiously identical to that of a mystic.
