Book excerpt: Comprehensive Supramolecular Chemistry II, Second Edition, Nine Volume Set is a ‘one-stop shop’ that covers supramolecular chemistry, a field that originated from the work of researchers in organic, inorganic and physical chemistry, with some biological influence. The original edition was structured to reflect, in part, the origin of the field. However, in the past two decades, the field has changed a great deal as reflected in this new work that covers the general principles of supramolecular chemistry and molecular recognition, experimental and computational methods in supramolecular chemistry, supramolecular receptors, dynamic supramolecular chemistry, supramolecular engineering, crystallographic (engineered) assemblies, sensors, imaging agents, devices and the latest in nanotechnology. Each section begins with an introduction by an expert in the field, who offers an initial perspective on the development of the field. Each article begins with outlining basic concepts before moving on to more advanced material. Contains content that begins with the basics before moving on to more complex concepts, making it suitable for advanced undergraduates as well as academic researchers Focuses on application of the theory in practice, with particular focus on areas that have gained increasing importance in the 21st century, including nanomedicine, nanotechnology and medicinal chemistry Fully rewritten to make a completely up-to-date reference work that covers all the major advances that have taken place since the First Edition published in 1996

Book Synopsis Introduction to the Theory of Ferromagnetism by : Amikam Aharoni
Download or read book Introduction to the Theory of Ferromagnetism written by Amikam Aharoni and published by Clarendon Press. This book was released on 2000 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book is the second edition of Amikam Aharoni's Introduction to the Theory of Ferromagnetism, based on a popular lecture course. Like its predecessor, it serves a two-fold purpose: First, it is a textbook for first-year graduate and advanced undergraduate students in both physics and engineering. Second, it explains the basic theoretical principles on which the work is based for practising engineers and experimental physicists who work in the field of magnetism, thus also serving to a certain extent as a reference book. For both professionals and students the emphasis is on introducing the foundations of the different subfields, highlighting the direction and tendency of the most recent research. For this new edition, the author has thoroughly updated the material especially of chapters 9 ('The Nucleation Problem') and 11 ('Numerical Micromagnetics'), which now contain the state of the art required by students and professionals who work on advanced topics of ferromagnetism. From reviews on the 1/e: '... a much needed, thorough introduction and guide to the literature. It is full of wisdom and commentary. Even more, it is Amikam Aharoni at his best - telling a story... He is fun to read... The extensive references provide an advanced review of micromagnetics and supply sources for suitable exercises... there is much for the student to do with the guidance provided by Introduction to the Theory of Ferromagnetism.' Book Synopsis New Itinerant Electron Models of Magnetic Materials by : Gui-De Tang
Download or read book New Itinerant Electron Models of Magnetic Materials written by Gui-De Tang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-05-17 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights a series of new itinerant electron models proposed based on the experimental results of electron spectra obtained since 1970. Although conventional magnetic ordering models were established before 1960, many problems remain to be solved. The new models in this book include an O 2p itinerant electron model for magnetic oxides, a new itinerant electron model for magnetic metals, and a Weiss electron pair model for the origin of magnetic ordering energy of magnetic metals and oxides. With these models, the book explains typical magnetic ordering phenomena including those that cannot be explained using conventional models. These new models are easier to understand than the conventional magnetic ordering models.
Book Synopsis Hexaferrite Permanent Magnetic Materials by : Sami H. Mahmood
Download or read book Hexaferrite Permanent Magnetic Materials written by Sami H. Mahmood and published by Materials Research Forum LLC. This book was released on 2016-10-10 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This concise book presents the basic concepts of magnetism and magnetic properties pertinent to permanent magnetic materials. Emphasis is placed on hexaferrite materials for permanent magnet applications, with M-type ferrites as the focal point. The relatively high metallicity of magnetic materials for practical applications imposes limitations for their efficient use. Accordingly, magnetic oxides with ferromagnetic properties emerged as the most widely used magnetic materials for practical applications, owing to their characteristic high resistivity and low eddy current losses, chemical stability, simplicity of production in mass quantities, and other favorable characteristics. An important class of these oxides is the class of hexagonal ferrites developed in the early 1950’s, which dominated the world market of permanent magnet applications since the end of the 1980’s. Among these ferrites, the magnetoplumbite (M-type) hexaferrite, is produced nowadays in large quantities at very competitive low prices, thus providing the permanent magnet market with probably the most cost-effective magnetic material.

The peer-reviewed literature is already extensive, witnessing rapid progress in experimental and theoretical studies on fundamental properties as well as various advanced applications. Part 1 covers theory, modelling, and synthesis (growth and alloying mechanisms) of MHNAs. Formation mechanisms of magneto-electric multiferroic materials, magnetic carbon nanotube (CNTs), and perovskite materials, which are a novel class of next-generation multifunctional nanomaterials, are discussed. The second part focuses on characterization techniques for electrical and dielectrical, rheological, biocompatibility, and other properties, as well as applications in the industrial, agricultural, environmental, and biomedical sectors. Finally, life cycle assessment is considered as essential to the development of nanomaterials and nanoproducts from MHNAs. Advanced undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and other professionals in the fields of materials science and engineering, polymer science, surface science, bioengineering, and chemical engineering will find comprehensive and authoritative information for solving fundamental and applied problems in the characterization and use of these multifunctional nanomaterials.
