Book Synopsis Handbook of DSM-5 Disorders in Children and Adolescents by : Sam Goldstein
Download or read book Handbook of DSM-5 Disorders in Children and Adolescents written by Sam Goldstein and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-05 with total page 659 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook synthesizes and integrates the science of internalizing and externalizing childhood disorders with the diagnostic structure of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual – 5th Edition (DSM-5) of the American Psychiatric Association. It offers a comprehensive overview of DSM-5 disorders in childhood, covering etiology, symptom presentation, assessment methods, diagnostic criteria, and psychotherapeutic and pharmacological approaches to treatment, prognosis, and outcomes. Clinical vignettes and empirical insights illustrate key concepts and diagnostic and treatment issues such as developmental, cultural, gender, and other considerations that may influence diagnosis and case formulation. In addition, chapters on psychosocial therapies offer robust guidelines for working with children and adolescents with DSM-5 disorders. The Handbook also addresses the shift from categorical to dimensional, diagnostic, and treatment systems, particularly focusing on the current shift in funded research in childhood disorders. Topics featured in this Handbook include: Intellectual disabilities and global developmental delay. Depressive disorders in youth. Posttraumatic and acute stress disorders in childhood and adolescence. Autism spectrum and social pragmatic language disorders. Alcohol-related disorders and other substance abuse disorders. Parent-child and sibling relationships. Cognitive-behavioral interventions and their role in improving social skills. The Handbook of DSM-5 Disorders in Children and Adolescents is a must-have resource for researchers, professors, and graduate students as well as clinicians, professionals, and scientist-practitioners in clinical child and school psychology, pediatrics, social work, and educational psychology.

Book Synopsis Atomic Defects in Metals / Atomare Fehlstellen in Metallen by : H. Ullmaier
Download or read book Atomic Defects in Metals / Atomare Fehlstellen in Metallen written by H. Ullmaier and published by Springer. This book was released on 1991-09-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Atomic or point defects are disturbances of the periodicity of the crystal lattice extending over only a few atomic distances. Many physical and mechanical properties of solids are sensitive to their presence. Furthermore other defects which are crucial to material behaviour are influenced by their interaction with atomic defects. A detailed knowledge of production mechanisms and properties of point defects is therefore essential for assessing and for understanding the atomistic as well as the macroscopic behaviour of materials. As a result of the use of new research methods in recent years, such information is now available for almost all pure metals, for many dilute alloys and for some concentrated alloys. However, a critical and comprehensive collection of these data has so far been missing. The aim of the present volume is to close this gap by sifting, evaluating and compiling data on vacancies and self-interstitial atoms in solid metals. A chapter on the element helium is included because of the exeptional position of He as an "alloying" element and its role in radiation damage phenomena.
Book Synopsis Mass Transport in Solids by : F. Bénière
Download or read book Mass Transport in Solids written by F. Bénière and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 602 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Atomic transport in solids is a field of growing importance in solid state physics and chemistry, and one which, moreover, has important implications in several areas of materials science. This growth is due first to an increase in the understanding of the fund amentals of transport processes in solids. Of equal importance, however, have been the improvements in the last decade in the experi mental techniques available for the investigation of transport phenomena. The advances in technique have stimulated studies of a wider range of materials; and expansion of the field has been strong ly encouraged by the increasing range of applied areas where transport processes play an essential role. For example, mass transport phenomena play a critical role in the technology of fabrication of components in the electronics industry. Transport processes are involved both during the fabrication and operation of devices and with the growing trend to miniaturisation there are increasing demands on accurate control of diffusion processes. The present book (which is based on a NATO sponsored Advanced Study Institute held in 1981 at Lannion, France) aims to present a general survey of the subject, highlighting those areas where work has been especially active in recent years.
Book Synopsis Diffusion in Solids by : A.S. Nowick
Download or read book Diffusion in Solids written by A.S. Nowick and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diffusion in Solids: Recent Developments provides an overview of diffusion in crystalline solids. This book discusses the various aspects of the theory of diffusion. Organized into nine chapters, this volume starts with a discussion on the process of diffusion in solids. This book then examines the tools that supplement the conventional diffusion measurements, including electromigration, ionic conductivity, isotope effects, and vacancy wind effects. This text explores the molecular dynamic calculation by which the interatomic forces must be assumed. Other chapters discuss the method of measurement of the isotope effect on diffusion, which is the most powerful method of determining relevant information about the correlation factor. This volume extensively discusses diffusion in organic and amorphous materials, as well as interstitial diffusion in solids. The final chapter deals with ionic motion and diffusion in various groups of materials called fast ionic conductors. Solid-state physicists, materials scientists, physical chemists, and electrochemists will find this book extremely useful.

Book Synopsis Atom movements - Diffusion and mass transport in solids by : Jean-Marc Philibert
Download or read book Atom movements - Diffusion and mass transport in solids written by Jean-Marc Philibert and published by EDP Sciences. This book was released on 2006-05-01T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 603 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book is the result of diverse courses on diffusion. It is intended to give as complete an overview as possible of diffusion in solid media, while relating the process of diffusion to both their physical bases and their applications. A series of a real situations is covered in this account, from self-diffusion of radiotracers to the more complex cases of mass flow under chemical or thermal gradients or under electric fields, or diffusion in structures of lower dimensionality (surfaces and interfaces). In all these analyses, no category of materials was favored; metals, ionic crystals, oxydes, and semiconductors all had their turn. Only polymers were not specifically touched. One chapter is specifically devoted to techniques for studying diffusion, including methods of numerical simulation, and a last and long chapter gives a number of metallurgical phenomena in which diffusion plays a fundamental role.
