Download or read book Polymer Rheology written by Jose Luis Rivera Armenta and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rheology is the science that studies the behavior of the flow of matter in a liquid state or soft solids under the application of stress or deformation to obtain a response to an applied force. In polymers, rheology is an important tool to understand behavior under processing conditions and to design equipment. Another application for rheology in the polymer field is to understand structure-property relationships by means of molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, stereochemistry, morphology, melt degradation, and performance under processing. This book covers the essential criteria for selecting the best test types for various applications and new developments, for accurately interpreting results, and for determining other areas where rheology and rheological phenomena may be useful in your work.

This book was released on 2009-07-06 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a detailed review of the modern theories dealing with the structure and properties of water. It also presents an analysis of the research on the effect of activated water on biological systems such as animals, microorganisms, and plants. The results of experiments on the influence of activated water on “pure” microbiological cultures and their natural associations are described, the studies being carried out under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. The results demonstrate a significant influence of activated water on higher plants (vegetable crops), sterile plants, and callus tissues. It is shown that the activation of water under definite conditions gives rise to the appearance of very strong bactericidal properties: activated water inhibits the development of pathogenic microbiological cultures by tens and hundreds of times more strongly, and can be used for sterilization. In addition, a potent positive effect of activated water on the prevention and treatment of cancer in mice has been observed, and its efficacy compared to that of chemotherapy is discussed in the book. The information provided in this book is supported by intensive experimental data and developed theories. The research programs were conducted at the authors' laboratories in Ukraine and Russia as well as at research facilities located in the USA.

This book discusses as well the organized structures of some synthetic macromolecules in gels and solutions. The final chapter deals with the technique for studying the effect of the excluded volume on the probability of cyclic chain conformations. This book is a valuable resource for chemists.
Book Synopsis Phase Transitions in Polymers: The Role of Metastable States by : Stephen Z.D. Cheng
Download or read book Phase Transitions in Polymers: The Role of Metastable States written by Stephen Z.D. Cheng and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2008-09-10 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A classical metastable state possesses a local free energy minimum at infinite sizes, but not a global one. This concept is phase size independent. We have studied a number of experimental results and proposed a new concept that there exists a wide range of metastable states in polymers on different length scales where their metastability is critically determined by the phase size and dimensionality. Metastable states are also observed in phase transformations that are kinetically impeded on the pathway to thermodynamic equilibrium. This was illustrated in structural and morphological investigations of crystallization and mesophase transitions, liquid-liquid phase separation, vitrification and gel formation, as well as combinations of these transformation processes. The phase behaviours in polymers are thus dominated by interlinks of metastable states on different length scales. This concept successfully explains many experimental observations and provides a new way to connect different aspects of polymer physics.* Written by a leading scholar and industry expert* Presents new and cutting edge material encouraging innovation and future research* Connects hot topics and leading research in one concise volume

Book Synopsis Understanding Soft Condensed Matter Via Modeling And Computation by : An-chang Shi
Download or read book Understanding Soft Condensed Matter Via Modeling And Computation written by An-chang Shi and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010-12-14 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All living organisms consist of soft matter. For this reason alone, it is important to be able to understand and predict the structural and dynamical properties of soft materials such as polymers, surfactants, colloids, granular matter and liquids crystals. To achieve a better understanding of soft matter, three different approaches have to be integrated: experiment, theory and simulation. This book focuses on the third approach — but always in the context of the other two.
