Book excerpt: The aim of this study was to use the Single-Valued Neutrosophic Set (SVNS) to analyze 58 mutual funds, traded at the Istanbul Stock Exchange, under incomplete, indeterminate and inconsistent information. To this end, the performance of the funds was first evaluated using the most commonly preferred criteria like the Morningstar rating, Sharpe ratio, Treynor ratio, and Jensen ratio. Following these criteria, SVNS based entropy was used to rank the funds. The results of the entropy weights revealed Morningstar rating to be the most important evaluation criterion followed by Treynor, Sharpe and Jensen ratios respectively. Yapı Kredi Asset Management Foreign Technology Sector Equity Fund was found to be the most successful fund, while İş Asset Management BIST Technology Capped Index Share Fund (Equity Intensive) Fund was the least successful fund.

These problems are mostly uncertain, vague and incomplete and thus they require some more advanced tool for modelling. Neutrosophic logic becomes the solution of all these kind of uncertain problems as it describe the conditions of uncertainty which occurs during the process of modelling on the basis of grade of membership of truth values, indeterminacy values and falsity values, that means it consider all the uncertain parameters on the basis of these degrees. In this research paper, we have considered the ordinary differential equation of second order with neutrosophic numbers as initial conditions of spring mass system is solved using Sumudu transform method which has advantage of unit preserving property over the well established Laplace Transform method. The solution obtained at various computational points by this method is shown in the form of table. Furthermore, the results obtained at different (α, β, γ)-cut and time values are also depicted graphically and are verified analytically by de-fuzzifying the data.

Making an opportune diagnosis would improve the quality of life of patients. A set of factors intervene in the diagnostic process that significantly impact the evolution of the disease. However, there is uncertainty to determine which factors promote the development of lung disease. The present research aims to propose a method for prioritizing risk factors for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The method uses a multi-criteria approach where uncertainty is modeled using neutrosophic numbers. The proposed method is implemented in a case study at Alfredo Noboa Montenegro Hospital. The result is the prioritization of the factors whose mitigation would favor the reduction of lung disease.

Book excerpt: Neutrosophic (NS) set hypothesis gives another way to deal with the vulnerabilities of the shortest path problems (SPP). Several researchers have worked on fuzzy shortest path problem (FSPP) in a fuzzy graph with vulnerability data and completely different applications in real world eventualities. However, the uncertainty related to the inconsistent information and indeterminate information isn't properly expressed by fuzzy set. The neutrosophic set deals these forms of uncertainty. This paper presents a model for shortest path problem with various arrangements of integer-valued trapezoidal neutrosophic (INVTpNS) and integer-valued triangular neutrosophic (INVTrNS). We characterized this issue as Neutrosophic Shortest way problem (NSSPP). The established linear programming (LP) model solves the classical SPP that consists of crisp parameters. To the simplest of our data, there's no multi objective applied mathematics approach in literature for finding the Neutrosophic shortest path problem (NSSPP).

Book excerpt: In this paper, we first introduce single valued trapezoidal neutrosophic (SVTN) numbers with their properties. We then define some operations and distances of the SVTN-numbers. Based on these new operations, we also define some aggregation operators, including SVTN-ordered weighted geometric operator, SVTN-hybrid geometric operator, SVTN-ordered weighted arithmetic operator and SVTN-hybrid arithmetic operator. We then examine the properties of these SVTN-information aggregation operators. By using the SVTN-weighted geometric operator and SVTN-hybrid geometric operator, we also define a multi attribute group decision making method, called SVTN-group decision making method. We finally give an illustrative example and comparative analysis to verify the developed method and to demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness.

The complexity of personnel selection is to determine effciently the proper applicantion to fulffll enterprise requirements. The decision makers do their best to match enterprise requirements with the most suitable applicant. Unfortunately, the numerous criterions, alternatives, and goals make the process of choosing among several applicants is very complex and confusing to decision making. The environment of decision making is a multi-criteria decision making surrounded by inconsistency and uncertainty. This paper contributes to support personnel selection process by integrating neutrosophic analytical hierarchy process (AHP) with the technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) to illustrate an ideal solution amongst different alternatives. A case study on smart village Cairo Egypt is developed based on decision maker's judgments recommendations. The proposed study applies neutrosophic AHP and TOPSIS to enhance the traditional methods of personnel selection to achieve the ideal solutions. By reaching the ideal solutions, the smart village will enhance the resource management for attaining the goals to be a successful enterprise. The proposed method demonstrates a great impact on the personnel selection process rather than the traditional decision-making methods.

Particular attention is devoted to information aggregation operators—65% of papers dealt with this item. The topics of this Special Issue gained attention in Europe and Asia. A total of 48 authors from seven countries contributed to this Issue. The papers are mainly concentrated in three application areas: supplier selection and rational order allocation, the evaluation and selection of goods or facilities, and personnel selection/partner selection. A number of new approaches are proposed that are expected to attract great interest from the research community.
