Book excerpt: Cette recherche s'origine dans un questionnement sur l'impact des difficultés psychoaffectives sur l'apprentissage. La méthodologie utilisée - entretiens, études de cas d'élèves et enquête quantitative dans une école disposant d'un Réseau d'Aides aux Elèves en Difficulté- a permis de mettre en évidence trois modèles d'approche des difficultés psychoaffectives, s'intégrant dans une approche plus générale des différences entre les élèves. Il apparaît qu'un premier modèle, centré sur les besoins et aspirations scolaires, considère les difficultés psychoaffectives comme un obstacle dans la réussite scolaire, conduisant à une intégration scolaire relative, essentiellement cognitive. Le second, centré sur les besoins et aspirations personnels, voit dans la résolution de ces mêmes difficultés la condition de la réussite des apprentissages scolaires. Les élèves ne bénéficiant pas d'une aide psychologique, se trouvent dans une situation doublement inégalitaire, les besoins et aspirations scolaires étant relativisés. Un troisième modèle, proposant une approche élargie des besoins et aspirations scolaires en ce qui concerne le rapport aux personnes et au savoir, voit les difficultés psychoaffectives comme ce qui marque les limites de l'acte pédagogique. Aucun cas d'échec scolaire n'est relevé même si la réussite scolaire subit des perturbations. Ceci remet en question certaines modalités de la pédagogie des besoins dont la pédagogie de détour et conduit à redéfinir les modalités de satisfaction de certains besoins relatifs au corps, à l'imaginaire et au symbolique comme des besoins premiers à l'école afin d'éviter une pathologisation ou une surpathologisation des difficultés scolaires
